I am reviewing a copy of White Knight’s Guide on Writing Books through BooksGoSocial and Netgalley:

While Knight’s Guide on Writing Books is geared toward those newer to the writing profession, though even seasoned writers can find useful advice in the pages of this book.

The book deals with everything from literary subject, to which writing software to use, it also deals with how to format your novel. The book also deals with Book Titles. The importance of backing up files is also addressed.

The author reminds us too of the importance of not filling your book with unnecessary content, making the book harder to read, not drawing in your readers attention.

This book is a guide to help writers find advice they won’t be able to find elsewhere. It is not your traditional guide.

By revealing the mistakes of others, beginners and professionals alike, this book will guide you through the full writing process, from the beginning to beyond publication, in order to make your book a truly rewarding masterpiece.

I give White Knight’s Guide on Writing Books four out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

Whilst the book sets out the things to do when publishing a book and the considerations to make, be it traditional, self or vanity publishing, it actually comes across as a book that is telling you off! Throughout the book it says in capital letters DO NOT, DO NOT EVER, NEVER, or NOT which whilst it is useful to have this information there are better ways for the suggestions to come across.

Otherwise what it does provide it gives useful suggestions on which word processor is best, layouts, fonts, what works in an eBook and what is best kept in a paperback plus the difference between page counts and word counts. It provides details on what to include in the content of the book, such as the copyright, dedication, table of contents and much more.

It then covers working with professionals such as editors, typesetters and cover artists, the moves onto publishing and where to release if you decide to go the self publish route.

Finally it wraps up with some marketing and converting your book into a foreign language, along with three checklists for the different publishing routes.

I received this book from Netgalley in return for a honest review.

I’ve read many of these nonfiction books on writing novels. This one is clear, concise, and tells you exactly what it will give you up front. I feel it carves a unique niche in its genre with specific advice on formatting and page settings. Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for allowing me to read this book.
