I was a little sceptical about this book. I wondered whether all the hype about it was justified or whether it was yet another book being sold on the back of a celebrity author. I can say, having read it in three days, the hype is justified. The murder mystery was intriguing throughout, and as the suspects were eliminated I was left none the wiser as to who was guilty. The ending was plausible and satisfying. What I particularly loved about it was the description of the scenery and the ageing process. Both were treated with respect and affection. For me, this really elevated the book. I can’t wait to read the next one.

I struggled with this book. I felt that the scenarios were a bit too fictional. Yes fictional story, fictional people but you have to make it at least a bit believable, right? This was a bit too cozy for me. I'm sure the older generation would enjoy it though.

A cosy mystery that was genuinely entertaining. Loved the cast of characters. Looking forward to more from the author.

A multiple murder mystery, set in an old peoples purpose built community. The thursday Murder Club was set up by a ex police/Mi5 or similar lady with plenty of contacts still in situ. 3 other elders join the club and enjoy the case of a mastery. Then 2 murders happen very near to them and really envolving their community. Certainly this is a story that would be enjoyed by the over 60's, though I found it a little Miss Marple in style. It certainly wasn't frightening, just intriguing. A light read which has received a lot of attention due to Richard Osman's TV celebrity.
A little comedic in content at times, easy read, with the murders solved

I really wanted to read this and am so glad I did. I loved it. I loved the humour, but the characters were genius. While I know there are only 4 crime solvers it reminded me of reading the Famous Five as a child. I loved the twists and turns, and not knowing what to expect either. These crime solvers are fantastic, and I cannot wait to read more of Osman’s books. Loved this book.

This was Osman's debut novel, introducing us to members of the Thursday Murder Club who live in a rather deluxe retirement village in Kent. Of course, being mostly elderly characters, the residents also have their quirks and eccentricities, and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting all of them.

There is more than one mystery to solve, including plans to flatten the beloved and sacred cemetery. And they're not necessarily all contemporary mysteries either.

There's not a lot else that I can say without spoilers other than I really enjoyed this cosy mystery. It's silly, it's funny, Osman's wit shines through and, really, it needs to be read with all of this in mind and the tongue firmly planted in the cheek.

I don't know why other reviewers expected this to be so different. I could almost hear the author reading it out loud.

The presentation was a bit off in my Kindle version, with sections clearly running together so that it seemed as though there was a bit of head-hopping mid-paragraph. But otherwise, bravo, sir!

This took a while to get into it, but when I did it was really good, and I didn’t see any of the twists coming
The writing is a little unusual. There is the normal third party narration, but there is also one of the characters writing a diary/journal so you get parts for the First person perspective too! Once I got used to that it was really intriguing. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

The Thursday Murder Club is a fabulous cosy murder mystery that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end. The author’s voice came through clearly as I was reading but I felt that really worked for the kind of story it was. There are a lot of larger than life characters to get your head around, but once I settled into the flow of the story, the varied cast of characters worked incredibly well for me.

I love that this is a book with older people at its heart and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series soon. Although a little reluctant to pick this book up at first I’m so glad I did! Richard Osman is as talented an author as he is a TV presenter and I can’t wait to read whatever he comes up with next!

I loved this book. It's not super serious, it's amusing and I'd love to hear more about the members of The Thursday Murder Club! I hope this isn't the only novel featuring them as a sequel would be perfect. I would consider this a great holiday read and would recommend to friends and family.

This was a great book. It's a little different to what I usually read, I'm very much a Chick Lit girl, but I really enjoyed this. Although I don't usually read these types of books, I really enjoy Murder Mystery TV shows, so I got involved in this story really quickly. I loved getting to know the various members of the Retirement Community and particularly those of the Thursday Murder Club. It's good to see a story that shows that a person's life's work can still be seen as useful once retired and that they were able to do so, even if in a very unorthodox manner. I didn't guess the various twists and turns, so a well written and enjoyable read. I look forward to the next one.

If you read nothing else this year make sure to read this book. It is clever and witty, amusing and heartbreaking, all at the same time. The characters are well rounded. There are no cardboard cutouts or caricatures, everybody seems realistic. Visit a retirement village and I'm sure these characters would be found. I could not put down this book and it is one of the few read so far this year that I plan to re-read at some point.

What a wonderful book! I’m not normally a fan of crime writing but this was just so lovely. The main characters felt like my friends, the plot had lots of twists and everything was beautifully written. This book felt like a hug.

Had high hopes for this one but did not enjoy at all. Far too many POVs which made it overly complicated to follow. Disappointing.

Ok, so I'm a bit late to the party with this one as it came out in a flurry of excitement in September last year and I've no excuse for my tardiness other than using the saying too many books, too little time. So despite having an ecopy copy of the book lingering on my kindle, when I spotted the audio version narrated by Lesley Manville, well, I couldn't delay any longer.

Setting the story in a retirement village is such a great premise for a story, and to have four 'old folk' who have too much time on their hands, and who enjoy trying to outwit the local police detectives, well, it's a match made in heaven. I loved every minute of The Thursday Murder Club and am hard pushed to figure out amongst the four septuagenarians who my favourite character was, but I think, on reflection, Joyce is the one who I really looked forward to seeing on the page, her intuitive ponderings really brought the story to life, but equally, Elizabeth, Ron and Ibrahim brought such a sparkle to the story, they are, by a mile, some of the best fictional sleuths I've met in a long time.

The audio version is expertly narrated by Lesley Manville who brings each of the characters alive in such a lovely, meaningful way that I became so immersed in the story I didn't notice time passing. Also at the end of the narration is a wonderful interview/chat between Richard Osman and Marian Keyes, which is absolutely worth listening too for a glorious insight into Richard's inspiration for the book and the sheer joy of listening to Marion.

The Thursday Murder Club is witty and funny, tender and compassionate, and the most joyous, murder mystery I have read in a long time. All I can say is read it, and then bring on book #2 in September 2021.

Sensational. Given the hype my expectations are high and I was concerned I wouldn’t love it like everyone else but I should t have been worried. This was a big warm hug in book form. Superb writing, brilliant characters. Exactly what I needed.

I'm not sure what happened with my review of this book but I read it a long time ago but must not have posted my review. Anyway I thought this book was just wonderful. It's a cosy murder mystery and I was totally absorbed in this wonderful story. I highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading the second booking the series. Once again sincere apologies for my late review.

What a surprise!!! I loved this book. So easy to read and entertaining! It is the perfect summer afternoon read. The vibes of this book remind me of A Man Called Ove.. maybe because it centers around baby boomers going cra-cra!

Highly recommended! Can't wait to read the next one!

This was a fun whodunnit although it did take me time to get into it and I would read Richard's next - hopefully I'll be lucky!

I adored this book! It is an amazing mystery book with such brilliant comedy and heartwarming relationships, set in a retirement community.

Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron are the kind of investigators every village should have and their relationship with Donna and Chris is brilliant.

The comic timing makes some of the more sad storylines a little more bearable and I loved the relationships between each character.

I can't wait to pick up the sequel!
