Genre-wise this is a police procedural but with a heavy dash of family dynamics thrown into the mix.
I was a very easy read that instantly captured my attention and I read this in one sitting.
I was initially drawn towards reading this on account of enjoying Cara Hunter and as this was described as in a similar vein I was interested to see if it would live up to the label attached.
I can confirm that if you like that particular author this book will be right up your street.
Here we have Dove a D.C. starting a new job after some previous traumatic events have impacted her life.
This first job after the fact brings the past right to the forefront as Dove is faced with an apparent copycat to the glass doll killer who was eventually apprehended and later died in prison, her niece was also one of his victims.
Now someone is killing girls and using the exact same MO, picking and poking at old trauma and hidden wounds.
This focuses heavily on family dynamics exploring all the hidden issues and intricacies involved in dysfunctional relationships and normal everyday interactions.
What's on the surface isn't always apparent till you dig the claws in deep exposing the rotten underbelly.
This one contained some major shockers and knocked me for a loop.
It was well written and absorbing and utterly addictive and I enjoyed it much more than I initially thought I would.
In fact, it would have been a full house but I would have liked to have delved beyond the mask when we get to the final conclusion here.
There just wasn't enough reasoning and aftermath for me to give me that closure I was after.
The whys and whatnots were missing and that bothered me somewhat.
it was anti-climactic after shocking revelations, making me feel something was missing slightly.
Still, I enjoyed this a lot and it kept my attention right to the finish and bar the above everything else for me was grand.
My first experience with this author but certainly not my last this one gets a thumbs up from me.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Glass Dolls.

After a teenage girl is found murdered and inhumanly encased in a glass, Detective Dove Milson is called for to investigate the case. Dove suspects that the killer is a copycat of the Glass Doll murderer (Why Dove knows more about this Glass Doll murderer? Bcos her own niece was a victim and the original Glass Doll murderer is dead). Dove’s other niece goes missing when she begins to remove the knots in this case. Then follows a gripping and electrifying thriller that keeps you on the edge to know - will the history will repeat itself? - will Dove be the next Glass Doll? - who is this copycat freak?!! Clock is ticking...
DE White really makes the readers appreciate crime thrillers by giving unexpected twists and turns that leads to a sense of satisfaction, as if the reader is the one solving the crime!!
Thanks to Netgalley, DE White, Joeffe books for the ARC! This review is my own and is not influenced in any way!

A sincere thank you to the publisher, author and Netgalley for providing me with an ebook copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is not my usual genre, I’m more into romance stories and girlie books therefore am extremely pleased and grateful to them for opening up my mind to something totally different.

I enjoyed this very much. 4 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Detective story with psychopathic tendencies. Dove Milson is getting her life together after a traumatic injury during a case and the murder of her niece, Eden, by a psychopath now deceased. Another girl is found murdered in the same way as the niece and they seem to have a copy cat killer. Her family is still trying to come to terms with the loss of Eden now not helped by the newly murdered girl being employed at the glamour club belonging to Dove's other sister. She certainly has a rather bizarre family. Niece's sister goes missing to add to the trauma. Bring in paedophiles and the opportunity for plenty of twists and turns. For once the detective follows procedures rather than going it alone, even if that upsets the family, which makes a pleasant change. The murderer was a complete blind-side to me for once. The story ties together detecting and family in a somewhat harrowing but nonetheless realistic feeling way. Finding the victims enclosed in a glass case was certainly different but let down by the practicalities I felt - the one downside for me. Thanks to NetGalley and Joffe Books for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

Dove Milson is a detective with a past. Having successfully brought a serial killer to justice and been badly injured herself, she is seeking to lay ghosts with a new unit and to settle her relationship with her boyfriend Quinn.

Then it appears that the serial killer is back, despite being dead, as his unique modus operandi is repeated with another young woman.

Dove's family becomes involved in the events as the plot swirls around them, until the reader is unsure who to believe and who is hiding terrible secrets. Some of the links could be spotted, some came more out of left field.

A rollercoaster of a read, very entertaining and gripping.

Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for allowing me access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This has got to be one of the best books I have read over the past few months!

A truly addictive thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seat throughout. Fast paced from the very beginning this one sucked me straight in and spat me back out with a glazed look.

If you're after a storyline that will have you shocked continuously with its twists and turns then this is most definitely the one for you.

Once again this story is lead by a strong but vulnerable female character who has a fantastic back story and a family dynamic like no other.

The whole book is full of well written, adrenaline pumping and likeable characters, filler characters were 100% not needed in this storyline.

So many twists and turns, just when you think you've got it all figured out another twist in thrown into the mix. The last twist was the totally unexpected.

An outstanding, incredible novel that I highly recommend!

I'm downloading the authors previous work as I type.

Huge thanks to netgalley and Joffe Books for the ARC

This book is a police procedural type of family drama. It sounds confusing, but it is really an easy read and it can be read in a single sitting.
A body has been found encased in glass and Detective Dove Milson is on the case. The scene is a replica of the 'Glass Doll' murders by serial killer Peter Hayworth... who is now dead.
A thrilling story with a great twist that I never saw coming. It's entertaining. Loved it so much.
Highly recommend this to all thriller fans.
Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for my advanced copy!

'Glass Dolls' is the first book in the series featuring Detective Constable Dove Milson and it is written by D. E. White, who also writes under the name of Daisy White. I have been a fan of Daisy's work for quite a while now and when I heard that she was due to release a new book in a new series, I just knew that I had to read it as soon as I could. I had a gut feeling that I would love the book and guess what? I was correct. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Glass Dolls' but more about that in a bit.
What can I say about DC Dove Milson? For a start, you are not likely to forget her name in a hurry. She has to have one of the most unique and beautiful names I have ever come across. Dove is a young police officer, who has undergone significant trauma in her personal life on at least two counts. Her niece was abducted and killed. Dove herself was savagely attacked and the injuries that she sustained, has meant that she cannot have children, which is a massive thing to have to come to terms with at her age. Dove is tenacious, tough, determined, stubborn, supportive, compassionate, kind and feisty. She is one tough cookie but then she has had to be. Dove is eager to get back to normal work wise and keen to make a good impression but a spanner is thrown into the works when a series of murders happen which eerily echo the characteristics of murders, which were committed and solved in the past and for which the perpetrator is in prison. For Dove, this case is personal and she will do anything to solve it.
Oh my word, 'Glass Dolls' is another amazing read from Daisy White. As soon as I started to read, that was it, I just knew that I wasn't going to be able to put this book down. In fact I made the oft fatal mistake of starting to read this book shortly before I went to bed. Let's just say that I was reading into the wee small hours of the night and I had a 'lack of sleep' hangover the next morning. If I wasn't reading the book, I was thinking about the book and if I had to put the book down then I would immediately look forward to being able to pick the book back up again. I wasn't able to read the book solidly because awkward things like real life and the need to sleep got in the way. From the moment I picked the book up until the moment I read the last word on the last word, I was completely under this book's spell. The pages turned increasingly quickly as my desperation to find out how the story concluded grew and grew. I soon reached the end of the book, which I had mixed feelings about. Don't get me wrong, I was pleased to finish the book because it meant I knew how the story concluded, but I was enjoying the author's writing style, the storylines and the characters so much that I just didn't want the story to end.
'Glass Dolls' is superbly written but then I wouldn't expect anything else from D. E White/ Daisy White. She has a knack of grabbing your attention with an eye catching synopsis and then she draws you into the story. As I said further up this review, DC Dove Milson is a character that I will not forget in a hurry. The unusual circumstances in which the murderer leaves his victims ensures that 'Glass Dolls' will stay fresh in my mind for a long time to come. This author has one of hose writing styles that makes you feel as though you are part of the story yourself and that you are part of the investigating team. That's how I feel at any rate.
Reading 'Glass Dolls' was much like being on an unpredictable and scary rollercoaster ride with lots of twists and turns along the way. Just when you thought that the action had settled down and you could take a moment to catch your breath, then off the action would go again. 'Glass Dolls' is a gripping start to a new series and I was on the edge of my seat throughout.
In short, 'Glass Dolls' is another amazing book, which I would have no hesitation in recommending to other readers. I will definitely be reading more of D. E. White's work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

This one starts out a bit slow, but if you stick with it, you won't be disappointed. There are a lot of characters and it gets a bit confusing at times. There are also several subplots going at the same time. At first I thought I had missed a previous book but this is indeed the first in a series. Dove is a detective with a lot of balls in the air. Between her job, relationship, and family there is a lot of development.
Things with the cases are intense. There are so many twists that left me absolutely shocked. I never saw any of the reveals coming. While at times things feel a bit disjointed, things are all brought together and you see that there is indeed a reason for all. I definitely will read the next book. By the end I was completely invested in the story and characters.

What a ride. Three sisters one on the side of the law, one determined to stay on the right side of the law,and one devastated by the loss of her oldest daughter to a serial killer. Here is where the fun begins. Dove on the force and feeling unsure of her footing in a new precinct after years undercover is one of the first on the scene of what appears to be a copycat murder of the glass doll killer. Add to this a niece that goes missing ,who we find was working with a off book vigilante group singling out pedophiles and blasting them on the internet. The saving grace is how methodical Dove is unlike most female cops who are lead characters she lets the system work it all out without going rogue. A tendency which never works out for her before. The ending twist was complete in surprise and astonishing to believe. Happy reading

Love it when I read the first book in a new series.  Love it even more when I thoroughly enjoy the novel and find myself really excited for the next installment.

As this is the first in a series, there is lots of character development running alongside a totally gripping, page turning plot.  The main protagonist is Dove Milson who has recently joined the MCT after an horrific life event and a breakdown.  Dove's family have a complicated history and are woven throughout the narrative, making this detective novel more personal.  The addition of family makes Dove a much more three dimensional character and we learn more about her motivations and her relationships with others.  The plot itself is intensified by the involvement of family as it makes it so much more emotional too.   Seeing the effects the events have on Dove and her family give the plot depth and makes the reader invest in it more.

The plot itself is terrifying.  I've never read anything where a killer has had a similar MO and the case is not straight forward.  There are plenty of thrilling twists and turns in this novel and it certainly kept me guessing throughout.

A brilliant start to a new series and it's certainly got my attention.

I enjoyed the book, but there was a lot going on here. Dove's personal life with her boy friend and family, her professional life, old and new murders, her handling job, etc. I usually do well remembering characters but I had a hard time remembering who some of the people were. I enjoyed the story and it had some twists that I didn't expect, which was nice.

Kindly received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The female lead of this story is DC Dove Milson. Six years ago she was abducted and suffered a knife attack while out meeting an informer. Now back on duty working for Major Crimes, her first case is a young woman who has been murdered and left in a glass casing as if she were a human Doll on show. The victim is a young backpacker from Sweden who had told her parents she was going to Paris.
Dove finds out that she worked at the strip club her sister runs for Colin Creaver, and had been working there for the past three weeks.
The crime scene is all but identical to serial killer Peter Hayworth who was convicted and died in prison a few years previously, so it looks like there's a copy-cat on the loose.
Eden, Dove's niece, was the last victim of Hayworth, Eden's body is still missing as Hayworth did not tell the family where she was before his death. Failure to find her has haunted Dove, and she feels that she let her family down by not finding Eden.
Delta, Eden's sister, then goes missing and it suddenly feels like someone is targeting Doves family, primarily when a second girl from the strip club is found dead.
When the real killer and the reasons why they committed the murders are revealed, I was shocked—a great twist.

I thank NetGalley and Joffe books for a free copy of this book, and this is my honest, unbiased review.

I enjoyed reading this book, a great story with believable characters which had me gripped till the last page. It's the first book I have read by this author but it won't be the last

Detective Dove Milson is no stranger to horror. Four years ago, her niece was abducted and allegedly murdered; no body was every found. Peter Hayworth, who admitted to killing her, was also convicted of other murders. He was nicknamed the Glass Doll murderer. When Dove is called in for another glass doll murder, Hayworth would be the prime suspect... except he's dead. Now Dove's remaining niece disappears. Will she be the newest glass doll murder? Will they find whoever is responsible? And then a shocking revelation tears a hole through Dove and her family.

I really liked Dove, and the other characters. They were written in a very realistic way; this is somewhat unusual because authors are very focused on the plot and the twist. But in GLASS DOLLS, everything flows very smoothly. I was invested in Dove, and the case. I was appropriately shocked and disgusted, and then happy and sad. This wasn't a thriller as such, in my opinion, because in my experience thrillers leave a sort of bookish after-image in your very bones. You can feel the aftermath of the fear and terror that the book gave you while you were reading. In this respect, and also that the first 20% of the book wasn't that entertaining, is what made me give 4 stars instead of the 5 I would have liked to give.

Another thing I really liked - the twist. This is how you work a twist in successfully without compromising the characterization and plot. This was no deus ex machina, but an actual honest-to-god twist that you would not see coming. I'm not going to say more because then I risk spoilers, but this is one of the most awesome twists I've ever read.

Overall, a great read. An almost perfect novel that delivers all that it promises.
