Huge fan of this author so thrilled to receive it via Netgalley.
This book was an interesting journey through several places in France that are in my to visit list. The stories of the two characters evolved satisfactorily and the book passed an enjoyable lockdown afternoon!

'The Women Who Ran Away' by Sheila O'Flanagan is an enjoyable romp through France and into Spain as both Deira and Grace depart Ireland on their respective road trips. I particularly enjoyed the '
treasure hunt' aspect of the trip, as this provides the reader with a brief oversight into the region where Deira and Grace are travelling.
O'Flanagan delves into some rather heavy topics such as suicide, bereavement, abortion and infertility. As a result, this book is not quiet the light-hearted story that I had anticipated but I did appreciate the approach taken by the author as she allowed both characters to display their pain and grief. Showing their true feelings at their individual situations, rather than attempting to gloss over their troubles or provide the almost-perquisite happy ending.

I really enjoyed this book and was so pleased to get a great book to review during lockdown. This is about two women coming together, by chance, after difficult times in their own lives. They end up on a journey together whereby they comes to terms with life and get to know each other. I loved this book- it was such a good, absorbing read and exactly the type of book you can lose yourself in. I highly recommend!
Thanks Net Galley for allowing me to read this!

This is another uplifting, entertaining and engaging book by Sheila O’Flanagan.
I was quickly drawn into the two main characters and was intrigued by both of their stories.
Another great book by this author and a must read for anyone who has enjoyed her previous books.

A very enjoyable story about two very different women who are escaping their home life for two very different reasons, but in the end become good friends as they help each other through a difficult time in their lives.
I really liked this story. I did feel the ending for one of the women could have been handled a little differently. I didn't feel it gave the reader hope that she'd be happy, but perhaps that was the author's intention.
I enjoyed the drive through France and Spain, excellent descriptions.

I've read and enjoyed a lot of Sheila O'Flanagan books in the past. I have not enjoyed some of the more recent books as much as her older ones. I was drawn to this book though by the cover and description.
From the first few chapters I was drawn into the book, and I wanted to keep on reading it. This is the best book that I have read from Sheila O'Flanagan for a few years.
The characters of Deira and Grace are very different, but they find themselves on a road trip together driving through France and Spain.
I read this in Lockdown, and the locations in France and Spain were very appealing and fascinating. The locations were not the usual beach resorts, but towns and cities with historical or literary pasts, and I found it interesting to read about them. It makes it stand out from other books about holidays.
I enjoyed reading this a lot, I loved all of the classical literature references, as somebody who has studied literature.
It was also good to see the characters work together and help each other to decide which direction they wanted their lives to go in.
This is an easygoing read, perfect for relaxing with. I'm looking forward to reading more books by this author.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.

I really do enjoy a Sheila O'Flanaghan book. So uplifting and out of 3 books of hers that I've read, 2 are covering topics that appeal to me. I first read "Her Husband's Mistake" and it was about driving, then I read "The Missing Wife" which was good but wasn't hitting the topics close to me (thank goodness) and now I've read this one which is about a road trip. I soooo love road trips!! In fact I have done 3 on my own over the past few years but not to run away from anything.

I loved the descriptions of the journey. The story reminds me a little of "P.S. I Love You" by Cecilia Ahern with Grace coming across a treasure hunt designed by her late husband. On her journey to her flat in Spain she comes across Deira who has her own misfortunes on her own road trip but thanks to Grace goes along with her and helps her with the treasure hunt.

Both women have their own issues to deal with and it is beautifully written as always. They must come to understand their predicament and move on which the road trip helps them to do.

Enjoyable as always and my go to author. I need to read through her earlier works as they are such a comfort blanket. In these times when people are unable to travel, you can travel to France and Spain from Ireland in this novel. Feel the heat of the sun

Deira and Grace who meet whilst they are on separate road trips, decide to travel together.

Deira - has taken her ex’s spirts car on the holiday that they had booked to go together before he he left her for another woman.

Grace’s whose husband died, he’s booked this trip for her and left clues for a treasure hunt

What I loved was how the women are on their own personal journeys, but they bond together and support one another in trying to solve the clues to the treasure hunt.

I couldn’t wait to see what the treasure was at the end of the hunt and so wanted to read the ending to find out.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

I was excited to see this new offering from Sheila O’Flanagan as I have enjoyed many of her books.
This was an enjoyable, heart-warming story of two women who meet unexpectedly and go on a road trip following a treasure hunt of clues. On the journey they learn about themselves, each other and have time to reflect on their lives and the choices they have made.
A good book which I rated 4⭐️ and would recommend to those who enjoy a life-affirming read.

The Women Who Ran Away is the story of two strangers, Grace and Deira, as they travel together through France and Spain. Grace is on a treasure hunt set by her late husband and Deira is seeking someone to mend her broken heart. As their journey continues will they both find what they are looking for?

A highly entertaining story which was an easy enjoyable read.

The Women Who Ran Away:Will their secrets follow them? By Sheila Flanagan was a terrific read to enjoy one sunny, windy weekend in the early days of a World Pandemic crisis in April. The Coronavirus is affecting everyone’s lives in the year 2020. The Woman Who Ran Away is a light easy read telling us about the life and travels of Deira and Grace An unlikely partnership but a successful friendship,, who share their good times and bad and move forward into the future as single woman.
An enjoyable and entertaining read as always with the books of Sheila O’Flanagan.
Highly recommended.
