Reading this book was a great relief from the reality of the current affairs of today and is the perfect feel-good summer read. I was immersed by the ups and downs of family life, in the beautiful setting of countryside and coastal town and many times I visualised this book as a movie or series. Although a tad twee for me towards the end, it's also incredibly poignant at times, full of love, hope and positivity. The characters are warm, realistic and likeable and introduced at the right pace so not to ruin the flow of the story.
Highly recommended for a gentle, interesting and certainly satisfying read especially in these current challenging times, giving warmth and hope for the future.

I am a fan of Veronica Henry and was looking forward to another trip to the Beach Hut with some apprehension that it would not be as good as the previous ones but I need not have worried.

It tells the story of Robyn who has to deal with a pregnancy, arranging a short notice wedding, finishing off her new home and then decides to throw into the mix finding her birth mother. She has always known she was adopted and loves her parents but was given a box on her 18th birthday for her birth mother she had never done anything with it but now she is starting her own family she wants to know the story of how she came into this world.

Can we have another Beach Hut story please!

Robyn and Jake are newly engaged and are expecting their first child. Robyn has always known that she's adopted but it never kept her awake at night. However, as she's pregnant and about to get married, she starts to feel the need to know her true history, to find out who she really is. She's torn, as she really loves her adoptive parents and sister, and she doesn't want to hurt them, but the need to know is strong. Deciding not to tell them and confessing only to her friend Gwen, Robyn starts to search for her birth mother and her life is about to change. But not only her life - the future is going to bring challenges, second chances, new beginnings to all those around Robyn, as they are also hiding secrets.

Robyn was a lovely character, complex and really well developed, and the author has given her a truly distinctive voice. She knew what she wants and if she wasn't sure, she wasn't afraid to risk, but she never wanted to hurt other people, so this is why some of the decisions were so hard for her. She was also hard - working and caring, and her relationship with Jake was strong and certain. But there were things in her life that lately started to bother her. I adored what Veronica Henry has done here, with Robyn searching for the truth - there was no time wasted on searching here and searching there, there was no will she/won't she and it was so refreshing, guys, I really liked that instead we got things straight out - it simply worked brilliantly in this story. I also loved with how much empathy and gentleness the author has written those parts, taking all Robyn's feeling under consideration, and not only Robyn's but also other characters' involved, without judging them but giving them a chance to tell things how they really were.

There is also a great bunch of supporting characters in this story, though I'm not sure if we should call them "supporting" at all, as they truly felt like the main characters, with their stories as important as those of Robyn and Jake. They are stories with depth, full of ups and downs, the characters are facing so many challenges in their lives, they all struggle and have issues and that makes them feel so down - to - earth and realistic. I liked that, for a change, they were wise but not patronising, and they really wanted good things for each other, they were supportive and simply kind people.

There were many subplots running through the story, it was not only Robyn and her journey, but I have never felt overwhelmed, stuffed with too much information or confused. The author has taken her time introducing all the characters and their background stories to us, there was nothing rushed and this is why it was so seamless and so smooth to read.

The writing style is so very Veronica Henry - flows effortlessly, it's lyrical, almost poetic, it's beautiful but also chatty and engaging, and the descriptions are vivid, bringing the places and characters to life. And of course the setting is gorgeous, Everdene on the coast is so well and evocative described, the author has a real way with words.

"A Wedding at the Beach Hut" is a thought - provoking story filled with family dynamics, unconditional love, friendship and all the trials and tribulations that come with them. It is such a gentle, relaxed read, with enough twists and without too much drama, a truly perfect read for a nice, tranquil afternoon as it is so easy to lose yourself in this story, it captures your attention immediately and envelopes you, with every turned page taking you with on the characters' journey. I'd say that perhaps there were moments that it was too relaxed, too peaceful, too slow but somehow the pace simply corresponded with the plot. It is a great piece of contemporary fiction, emotionally engaging escapism, true to life and realistic and I highly recommend it!

This is one wedding you won’t want to miss.

A new book by Veronica Henry is always something to look forward to. Having loved so many of her books I couldn’t resist saying yes to reviewing A Wedding at the Beach Hut for the tour, and this was just the type of read I needed at the moment. Although this forms part of the Everdene Sands/Beach Hut series, it can easily be read as a standalone without any loss of enjoyment.

Robyn and Jake not only run a landscaping business together but are also planning their wedding. Neither want anything flashy or big so a casual, simple affair is planned with a celebration for a few family and friends at the ‘Shedquarters’, a beach hut owned by Jake’s father Rocky.

The book isn’t all about the wedding though. With huge changes about to be made to her life, Robyn has a big and very difficult decision to make and she doesn’t want to hurt anyone through her actions. One part of the story follows Robyn as she makes her decision and follows through.

One of the loveliest things about this book are the characters. Thirty years old, Robyn and Jake are both kind and genuine. Their love for each other has grown from working together and they are busy trying to make their business a success, as well as renovating the Linhay, an old farm shed, to be their home. Robyn’s parents Mick and Sheila are facing uncertain times as their beloved Hawksworthy Farm is eating the cash and Rocky, Jake’s dad, divorced and lonely now that his sons have left home, is deciding whether to dip a toe in the waters of online dating. His ex-wife Tina is having to face up to her own decisions.

Another character who forms a large part of the story is Emily. I was completely engrossed by her part in this and it made the book for me.

Veronica Henry certainly knows how to tug at the heartstrings – she excels at producing well developed and engaging characters, each with an interesting and sensitively written storyline with emotional depth and substance behind them. Love, the importance of family and the need to have a sense of belonging are some of the themes of the book.

I absolutely loved it and actually felt quite sad when it came to the end. And as for unofficial wedding planners – then Robyn’s fabulous friend Gwen with her homely harbourside flat full of collected artefacts must take some beating!

This book has all the ingredients for a perfect escapist read. There are complex and engaging characters who are easy to empathise, a delightful coastal setting with a quintessential English beach hut and a family drama that oozes with emotion, love and secrets.

Robyn's life is about the change in the best of ways she pregnant and getting married. A likeable quirky character she is one half of a successful landscaping team with her partner in life Jake Her only quandary is whether to search for her birth mother.

This story weaves storylines of loss and love with effortless ease. The wedding is the focal point but it's about so much more.

I received a copy of this book from Orion Books via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Veronica Henry has the ideal pacing right from the beginning particularly when it came to the introduction of the characters. The reader wasn't bombarded with information re facts or connections making it hard to remember who was who etc and this gentle, relaxed pace really set the tone for the overall book. A Wedding at the Beach Hut is truly a book to lose yourself in as you quickly become oblivious to everything that is going on in the world around you. It's a warm, inviting, relaxing and a big hug of a book with every turn of the page taking you deeper into the lives of the characters. As times are changing for Robyn she makes a life changing decision regarding the truth of her history. The steps she will take will change the course of her life forever but will all those that love her and surround her be happy with her choice or will it prove to be too much and cause heartache and pain?

The book opens with an intriguing letter, a woman is trying to explain what happened and how things aren't black and white in our lives. That the decisions we make in life aren't easy ones to make. There was no right or wrong in what people do and what is right for one person make be wrong for another. This letter really spiked my interest right from the get go. Later when when connections are made I thought how everything truly made sense and it was such a clever way of drawing the reader instantly into the story. We then get to meet Robyn Moss as she goes early one morning to meet her partner Jake at the beach hut owned by his father Rocky. The Shedquarters as it is fondly known has been a focal point for both Robyn and Jake's family for a long time as they meet at the end of each week to catch up and chat about their week over some food and drink.

The beach hut is a place to leave your troubles behind and will forever hold a special place in their hearts and in turn it provides a major focal point for the book. On this occasion as Robyn arrives to go for an early morning swim with Jake, she is harbouring something delightful close to her chest. She is pregnant and their relationship is about to take a major step forward. They are already working on renovating a cattle shed – now fondly known as the Linhay. It belongs to her parents who run Hawksworthy Farm although times aren't great for Sheila and Mick. Robyn and Jake have a business together as garden renovators and landscapers. They are happy and content and despite some anxiety on Robyn's part regarding her pregnancy they feel solid and secure. The icing on the cake is when Jake proposes and so the wedding of the title is born and exciting preparations begin.

But Robyn feels a sense of disquiet is creeping in and it's something that she just can't ignore if she wants to move forward and venture fully into this new and exciting phase in her life. There is an issue which she has been determined to forget about. There is a voice calling out to her which she usually silences but this time she feels that can't ignore it for much longer. It's time to be heard and for her to listen. Yet there is no guarantee that what she wants to do won't lead to distress or heartbreak and it's not just hers that she is factoring in. As Robyn literally open Pandora's box will it bring unrest and unease or will it finally quieten the voice which has been calling to her for so long?

I loved Robyn as a character, she showed all sides to her personality. She was hard-working, kind and caring and you knew that her relationship with Jake was solid, secure and that they were in it for the long term. There was no will they won't they get together at the end, no this wasn't that kind of book and I was thankful for it because I have read hundreds of books like that. Instead the author directed the focus on Robyn reconciling with the past and in the manner in which she did so was just superb. Robyn can't stop thinking about the truth of her background and she knows she is taking a risk but I admired her for taking this risk. It's as if she knew that if she didn't seek answers now she would never do it. This was the pivotal turning point in her life and if she kept silencing the voice that she couldn't truly be happy in her new life with Jake and her baby.

Robyn's journey was an interesting one but I loved that it wasn't the dominant force throughout the book. That in fact it had ebbs and flows like the tide on Everdene Sands. It wasn't all rushed and forced and instead other characters are allowed to share their stores with us. All the little sub plots fed wonderfully and naturally into the overall themes and issues being explored in the book and it all just felt so realistic. Yes there was a mystery element in Robyn uncovering the truth but I felt there wasn't this big search that was aimless and fruitless. Instead the way Veronica Henry weaved the past into the present was exceptional. She literally allowed the story to be told straight out and to flow by itself and in doing this I felt a real empathy with the situation regarding Robyn's background. That aspect of the book was like a story in itself and I was riveted as I turned every page. I loved how it popped up every now and again and just slotted in perfectly to the present day with all the preparations for the wedding. The story behind the truth was exceptionally written and you don't expect to read about something like this if you were to judge this book solely on its gorgeous cover. But I felt everything worked so well and you could just tell how much the author truly enjoyed writing every minute of this brilliant book.

There is an extremely strong set of supporting characters throughout this story and in turn you become deeply invested and engaged with each of them. Robyn's father Mick is grappling with an important decision, the effects of losing his herd several years ago still play heavy on his mind. He is keeping things close to his chest and you know he is doing this because he is really worried that if he jumps the gun and makes the wrong decision that his family won't be best pleased. Robyn's sister Clover was a fun and vibrant character whose outfits brought many a smile to my face. She seemed to bounce into every scene she was featured in but she too is unsure of her future. Will her hard work studying pay off in order to secure the place she so desperately wants at university?

Rocky, Jake's Dad, is stepping outside of his comfort zone and now that his two sons have grown up and fled the nest, is he ready to step into the dating zone? Rocky was a loveable almost bear of a man and you could see that the affects of his traumatic break up still lingered and were inhibiting him moving forward. I can't forget Gwen, such a warm and creative person and a support and strength to Robyn when she needs it the most. She is wise and inventive but she too has been hurt in the past. Will a new arrival allow her to break free from memories that have tainted her for many years?

I really can't recommend A Wedding at the beach Hut enough. It deserves to fly very high in the best seller charts over the coming weeks. Each character is battling with many internal struggles and issues but with the announcement of Robyn and Jake's wedding it's time for everyone to get things out in the open and find resolution and as you journey with them you will love every minute of this magnificent, amazing read.

Robyn and Jake live in Everdene and are planning on having their wedding at the rundown beach hut they've loved since they were kids. Robyn's got a box that she's had since she was 18 but never opened as she's worried about what she'll find out about her natural mother

This is a book for escapism, set in the countryside/seaside with a usual strong family theme. You are drawn into the story and it is almost as though you are there.
Robyn and Jake are planning their wedding and looking towards new beginnings. Robyn has a box that her mum gave to her on her 18th, to deal with and she feels that this is the right time. The story alternates well between now and thirty years previous, telling the story of the past. Will Robyn be happy with the secrets she uncovers, or will she upset those around her, damaging her relationships?
I would recommend this book as a feel-good summer read and I enjoyed the stories of the other characters linked to Robyn and Jake.
I would love to see a sequel to this story, as the storyline and the characters give the scope for this.
Many thanks to Veronica Henry, her publishers and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

I adore Veronica Henry’s charming, uplifting and feel-good tales of love, family and friendship and she is on sparkling form with her latest irresistible novel, A Wedding at the Beach Hut.

Everything seems to be coming together for Robyn and Jake. Their business is booming, their relationship is as strong as ever, they live in picturesque Everdene and to top it all off, they are expecting a baby. Robyn and Jake simply cannot wait to become parents and to share the good news with their friends and family. Working together and living together can put a strain on even the most solid of relationships, but luckily for Robyn and Jake, spending so much time together has helped to strengthen the bond between them and the baby is simply the cherry on the cake for the pair of them. When Jake proposes to the woman who has come to mean the world to him, Robyn says yes and begins wedding planning in earnest. However, she soon realises that it’s not all wedding cake and sparkling wine as secrets from the past might end up threatening their bright new future…

Robyn knows that she should feel elated and excited, but she cannot shake off this feeling of unsettlement as she finds herself constantly thinking about the box given to her by her parents on her eighteenth birthday that contains a shocking secret that could change not just her life, but those of the people she loves most in the world. Robyn is not the only one to feel unsettled. Her father Mick’s farm had suffered a terrible loss years ago from which it has never recovered. It breaks his heart to see his beloved wife Sheila working every single hour she can to keep the family farm a viable concern yet Mick knows that regardless of what they do, he might just end up having to do the unthinkable and sell up. Meanwhile, Jake’s father Rocky has decided to dip his toe in the dating pool after years spent bringing up his boys single-handedly. Rocky never minded being on his own, but he misses the companionship of having somebody to talk to. Will Rocky end up finding what he has been wanting and looking for for so long? Or is he merely setting himself up for disappointment?

With Robyn and Mick’s big day fast approaching, is a happy ending on the cards for all of them? Or will it be heartache all round?

I love Veronica Henry’s wonderful writing style that immediately draws you into the world she creates and makes you laugh and cry alongside her characters and A Wedding at the Beach Hut is certainly no different. A gloriously addictive, immensely emotional, wonderfully funny and engrossing tale of love and loyalty that kept me up all night, A Wedding at the Beach Hut is a hopeful and heartwarming tale from one of contemporary women’s fiction brightest and most talented stars: Veronica Henry.

Robyn is about to marry Jake but first she decides to go and meet her birth mother Emily. This book navigates backwards and forwards in time and reveals the intricate roles in family especially with mothers and daughters. A lovely summer read. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me review this book.

Weddings are happy events and everyone is delighted when Robyn and Jake announce their imminent wedding, just one month away. It will be a small ceremony and it will take place in the family beach hut. And while the preparations are going on, everyone has their own secrets to face. Robyn is busy with the wedding, her job, and finishing the works on her and Jake’s new home, but something else is occupying her mind. She knows that opening the box that was given to her when she turned eighteen years old will not only reveal the truth about her past, but also cause a lot of pain to the people she loves. What will she do? In the meantime, her parents, Sheila and Mick, want to protect Robyn, even if that means keeping a secret from her. Jake’s father, Rocky, is entering the dating world after fifteen years of being single. And lovely Gwen is happy to help Robyn organize her dream wedding, but she gets distracted by her handsome new neighbour.

I am ashamed to admit that this my first novel by Veronica Henry and, as soon as I started reading, I saw that I have been missing out a lot. I loved her writing style from the beginning. The different perspectives and the beautiful descriptions kept me completely captivated and she created a cast of fantastic and likable characters that felt authentic and relatable. I loved the story. It is heartwarming and moving (yes, I may have shed a few tears, especially at the ending) and full of unexpected surprises. Robyn’s struggle between discovering the truth about her past and protecting the people she loves was very-well written and, while I didn’t agree with some of her choices, I felt so involved in the story and I was really happy how it ended.

A Wedding at the Beach Hut is an enjoyable and refreshing story to enjoy and relax with on these warm and sunny days and I’d like to thank Anne Cater for inviting me to join the blog tour and introducing me to the beautiful world of Veronica Henry. I can’t wait to read more from this author, both old and new stories!

Thankyou Netgalley and Orion for my copy of this wonderful book to review and read before publication. I have just finished it this morning and had happy tears running down my cheeks,. This is such a wonderful feelgood and heart-warming family story. I enjoyed how Victoria joined the past and the present together with Robyn's story and how her birth mother Emily had to give her up for adoption. We are in Everdene with Robyn and her business partner - they run a gardening business- when she discovers she is pregnant and that starts to set in motion Robyn's need to see if she can find her birth mother. She has enjoyed a very happy life with her parents on the farm and is looking forward to a family friendly relaxed wedding at the beach hut which belongs to her partners husband. Lots of family relationships are happily sorted by the end of the book. I loved Gwen who helped as Robyn's wedding planner!!!

I really enjoyed this book and am happy to recommend it to our customers.

Salt, sea, and baby makes three. This was such a delightful story that I was bummed to see end, I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these fabulous characters. Veronica Henry infuse so much emotion and charm into this engaging story. Robyn and Jake are having a baby. They are so excited and in love, but they know this will bring changes to their carefree lifestyle. Robyn was adopted by amazing parents, but now about to have a baby of her own she is contemplating reaching out to her birth mother. Jake has never believed in marriage especially because his parents marriage didn’t work out that well. But now that he is about to be a father and their dream home is almost complete, he begins to see that marrying Robyn might be the way to go. Jake and Robyn have such amazing family and friends Who are all determined to give this couple the wedding of their dreams. The lead up to the wedding is full of emotion, heart, hope, second chances, and new beginnings.

Loved this book! I loved these characters and I loved every single minute I spent with them. Robyn was such a phenomenal character who I would love to be friends with. Her relationship with Jake was so sweet, the love between them really poured from the pages. The backstory of her birth mother Emily was heartbreaking I really felt for the girl. All the secondary characters in this book were spectacular and I have to give a special shout out to Gwen and Clover who I particularly loved. A lovely beach read with a whole lot of heart!

This is the fourth book I have read by Veronica Henry in the ‘Beach Hut’ series and I enjoyed this one every bit as much as the others! ⁣

Based yet again in the idyllic Devon coastal town of Everdene, this book follows the story of Robyn and her boyfriend Jake.⁣

Robyn has always known she was adopted but recent life events have prompted her to explore the story of where she came from and to know a bit more about her ‘birth’ mother. ⁣

I loved the dual time line of this book and how the characters all got to tell their different points of views in separate chapters, their stories all intertwining with one another. ⁣

I just adore Veronica Henry’s writing style and how she always gives such wonderful descriptions of her characters and their backgrounds, leaving you with that feeling that you know them so well. ⁣

A heartwarming, feel good read that I highly recommend. Although this is part of the ‘Beach Hut’ series, all books can easily be read as stand-alones!⁣

The only slight disappointment for me was the ending. I felt it ended too abruptly and was hoping for a bit of an Epilogue. I was just left wondering what happened...... which for me would have just finished it off perfectly and then possibly pushed it up to a five star read! ⁣

Thank you to Netgalley and Orion Books for an advance copy in exchange for a review. ⁣

I have read all the Beach Hut books and love them all. In these troubling times escaping to the beach and the beach hut community of Everdene is just what I needed. This was another engrossing story, very emotional in places and very life affirming. At the end of lockdown I think we will all be more appreciative of family and friends and this novel emphasises the importance of this too. As always the characters were well drawn and believable and carried you along so you don’t want to have to put the book down. I loved it!
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for letting me read an advance copy. Just what was needed. We might not be getting much in the way of holidays this year but I feel I have just got back from a little trip to Devon!

It’s lovely to be back at the beach hut once again, and with a totally different storyline.

Robyn has always known that she was adopted as a baby and has no problem with this. On her 18th birthday, her mum gives her a box that was left to her by her birth mother, but Robyn doesn’t feel the need to open it.

Fast forward a few years when Robyn and Jake are planning their wedding at the beach hut on Everdene Sands, and she is expecting their first baby. As an adoptee myself, I know how becoming a mother can make you start to think about your birth mother (and birth family), and your roots. Robyn decides that now might be the time to open the box.

I’ve read all of Veronica’s books and loved every one. They always have me hooked from the first few pages. This is a heartwarming read, and I didn’t want it to end.

Thank you to NetGalley and Orion for an advance copy in return for an honest review.

The book centres around Robyn and Jake, their families, and friends, all set in the Devonshire seaside town of Everdene.

Robyn is blissfully happy, every part of her life is perfect apart from one last piece of the jigsaw, something that becomes more important as her life moves forward. She shows great courage and takes a leap of faith, knowing that her actions could cause heartbreak for her loved ones. Robyn’s journey is emotional and beautifully written, a story that will really resonate with both mothers and daughters.

If I had a beach hut like the Shedquarters, I don’t think I would ever leave. It worked so well as a unique, boho style wedding venue lovingly arranged by Robyn’s friend Gwen. I loved all the quirky details and upcycling which went into making the perfect wedding day for a couple who just wanted to celebrate with close family and friends.

As always in Veronica Henry’s books, every one of the side characters has a story to tell. I adored Rocky who devoted himself to bringing up his sons without a thought for his own happiness. Robyn’s friend Gwen is a loyal confidante and true friend. She lives alone surrounded by wonderful artifacts she has collected over the years but underneath there is a loneliness that needs to be filled.

The book focuses on strong relationships both parental and romantic and serious issues are told with great sensitivity. If you are looking for a relaxing, uplifting read, A Wedding At The Beach Hut will completely sweep you away.

I’ve had my eye on this book for a very long time, I mean who doesn’t love a Veronica Henry book! This one looked particularly enticing with it’s blue skies and colourful beach huts. It follows on with the Beach Hut series, but it can most definitely be read as a standalone novel. It takes us back to Everdene on the North Devon coast, and we meet Robyn and Jake who are planning their future. After finding out she is pregnant, they decide to get married and what better place to do it than the family’s beach hut! Things aren’t so smooth along the way though when Robyn decides she wants to find her birth mother, and decides to open a box which was left to her all those years ago.

This was a fabulous read and once I started it, I couldn’t put it down. It isn’t your typical romance chick-lit type book though, it’s a powerful story of love, loss and forgiveness told from different characters’ viewpoints. Firstly, we have Robyn’s story – lovely Robyn who decides that she wants to know her birth right, particularly now that she is pregnant. We also hear from her birth mother, Emily whose story travels between 30 years previously and present day. There are also lots of side storylines from other characters who we meet along the way – Robyn’s friend, Gwen, Jake’s dad Rocky and Robyn’s parents Mick and Sheila. Each of them had their own little piece of magic to add to the story and they were all absolutely delightful. There certainly isn’t one who you couldn’t connect with or like!

The story flows along at a good pace, switching between the different characters, captivating you in every turn of the page. The stories, particularly the circumstances of Robyn’s adoption, are quite sad at times, but are also sensitively written. I love how the author doesn’t sugar-coat anything and tells it to you, just how you would expect it to happen. My heart broke so many times whilst reading this book and yet still by the end it had managed to repair itself and was left with such a heart-warming feeling and a smile on my face! With a perfect backdrop of the Devon Atlantic coastline, this book captured my heart, imagination and spirit in every way possible! If you’re looking for that little bit of escapism, lose yourself in wonder of this author’s writing! Highly recommend!

The story begins with returning to one of my favourite places Everdene this time we meet Robyn and her boyfriend Jake who have some exciting news to share. The story gradually draws in their friends and family as the author does so well and we get to know the characters in more detail. love this authors books and her character development is one of the reasons. They have a great depth and you really get to know them. My particular favourites in this book are Mick, Gwen and Rocky.

Robyn is adopted and has not wanted to find her birth mother until now and she is also aware how upset her adoptive parents Mick and Shelia maybe about this. Jake’s parents Rocky and Tina are divorced and they are also about the experience changes in their lives.

They all begin to organise the wedding which is taking place in just a few weeks. Robyn is not just organising the wedding but dealing with an even bigger issue which gives her mixed emotions on top of being pregnant.

The setting of Tawcombe seemed very familiar to me, being from Mid Devon and I loved the Devon idiosyncrasies. Mick reminded me of my Dad, who calls me and my sisters,’ his maids’ too ! The book has humour and warmth but also sadness and covers some really delicate subjects like adoption and miscarriage in a really sensitive way.

This book could not have come at a better time for me, in lock down when I was unable to visit my own favourite seaside haunts but I was able to be transported there with the assistance of this gorgeous book. Thank you Ronnie for another fabulous read.
