I am really lost for words.
Having read the other beach hut books this one really is so
Captivating full of love humour and above all hope. If we have no hope then life would be pretty bland this is such a poignant story it sometimes hurts to read it I cried big big fat tears I was an emotional wreck by the end but with such sheer I really can't praise this outstandingly BRILLIANT book enough
Thank you.

A perfect summer read that reminds us what is important in life and that is family and friends. People not things. I would love at this moment to visit the beach but as we can’t I will travel vicariously through this book. Another cracking read from Veronica Henry I have come to expect this from such an exceptional author.

This was such a lovely, refreshing read. I was completely swept away to lovely Devon and could almost taste the salt in the air and feel the breeze on my face. Veronica is obviously an old-hand at writing these novels but I can honestly say that I felt like I was watching old friends as the story took me in and held me close.

All the characters are fabulous. Warm, real and relatable and each with their own problems, hopes and dreams – I really cared about them and wanted a happy ending for each and every one of them. I think my favourite was Gwen. She was such an engaging character and oh how I envied her gorgeous flat and independent lifestyle… yet as with each of the characters she carried a sadness of her own. Sometimes you need to know there is a happy ending ahead and I think novels such as this fill an important and much needed dose of that these days.

I loved the beach hut or ‘Shedquarters’ as it is known. It is place of hope, love and where all things come together. It was the perfect setting for this story and had as much impact as the greatest of mansions.

This is a book that sweeps you up into the lives of each of the characters. As with real life there are regrets, difficult and at times life-changing decisions to be made but ultimately it is a happy tale filled with love, hope and relationships that you know will stand the test of times. I finished it feeling as warm as sunshine and it was a delightful piece of pure escapism. A perfect read come rain or shine.

I've read all Veronica Henry's Beach Hut books and enjoyed them.

This was a little bit special. We meet Robyn and Jake and get to share something of their story. I love how Veronica doesn't give us endless nitty gritty of everyday life events but takes us into the meaningful bits instead.

Loved this book, the people, the stories and the hope. I'd like to see Gwen's story next!

I just love settling down with a Veronica Henry novel and I adore The Beach Hut series.  When I was little I used to go to Devon with my grandparents and the hired a beach hut sometimes.  I have the best memories of this and The Beach Hut series always takes me back to that happy place with them.

Veronica Henry takes delicate threads and weaves them into the most beautiful tapestries you can imagine.  A Wedding at the Beach Hut Is a wonderful and delicately told story of different types of love that can exist in a person's world and the impact of these loves.  Told over two timelines and from multiple perspectives, the reader is treat to romance, family drama, loss and heartbreak.  All told with heart and soul.

In the present we follow Robyn's journey to find her birth parents as she prepares for her wedding to Jake and the arrival of their first child.  Jake and Robyn are surrounded by wonderful friends and family, who also are pulled into sub-plots that are equally as entertaining.  I especially loved Gwen, Robyn's eccentric and flamboyant but wise best friend.  It's difficult not to fall in love with the inhabitants of Everdene and I really hoped that every single one of them achieved their goals throughout the book.

For me personally, the highlight of the novel as reading about Emily whose story is told in the past timeline.  She was such a strong character and her story was heartbreaking.  These chapters changed the tone of the narrative a little to a more serious tone and I found myself riveted by her story.

The setting of Everdene is just perfection.  The little beach huts, the waves, the whole picturesque perfection of the place just stole my heart and I used my childhood memories to bring it to life alongside the vivid description.

All the characters, setting and threads are woven together to create such a  wonderful story and I cannot recommend this enough.

Having not read any of the other books in the Beach Hut series, I was worried I would be at a disadvantage, but I am happy to report that at no point did I feel like this when I was reading.
This book was the perfect sunny summer day read, following Robyn and Jake as they embark on their life together. When the book starts so happily, I did feel on edge for most of my reading wondering at what point the author was going to throw in something bad, am I just a cynic?
Despite this, I really enjoyed my first foray into life at the beach hut and I shall keep an eye out for others in the series. The characters were likeable and the family units and extended family were lovely to read about. Especially liked Gwen as a character - could we have a spin off?
This book touched on some deeper subjects of miscarriage and adoption so just be aware if you are sensitive to either, in my inexpert opinion, both were dealt with in a sensitive way, but were still heart wrenching nonetheless.
Thank you to the publisher for my gifted copy as part of the blog tour.

I love Veronica Henry and especially the Beach Hut series so I was thrilled to get an e-copy ARC of this for review. Veronica's books are always a delight and this one was no different.

Since we can't go on holiday at the moment during the Covid-19 pandemic, reading this was the very next best thing. I feel like I've been to Everdene and seen the sparkling sea, breathed the salty air, and made a bunch of new friends who I'm so sorry to have to leave behind now that it's over.

I love the focus on family in this book, and the different things that can mean to people. It was beautiful and moving in places, I wept several times, but filled with love and joy and a deep sense of peace and security.

Another fantastic read from Veronica Henry.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review this book.

Lovely story, great characters and so, so delightful

This book was so lovely. I love Veronica Henry although the books are very different to her very earlier ones. When Robyn and Jake find out they are expecting a baby they decide to get married. Robyn who has always known she was adopted decides she wants to find her birth mother. The story is one of love, hope and forgiveness. It was like having a warm hug each time I started reading. Lovely!

This has to be Veronica's best yet! I loved every second that I spent in the beautiful seaside resort of Everdene in Devon along with a gorgeous set of characters who I'd dearly love to have as my friends. I've read other books in the Beach Hut series but this is my favourite. Robyn and Jake are planning their wedding on the beach and Robyn is expecting a baby. The only thing marring her excitement is a huge revelation that she encounters when opening up a box on her 30th birthday that she has held onto since her 18th which could tear her family apart. She embarks on a journey to find the giver of the box and the secrets behind it. There a quite a lot of characters in the story - some present day and others whose stories are set in the 1980's - which made very interesting reading as there were a lot of memories and nostalgia for that era. Multiple characters usually bother me but these were introduced gradually and never at any time did they overwhelm the story. It was such an easy and straightforward read but with so much emotion, anticipation and intrigue along the way that kept me reading far into the early hours. It was lovely to hear about two separate families - in-laws who all got along well and each had their own back story which I loved reading about. I loved Robyn's friend, Gwen, and would love to attend any wedding organised by her! The descriptions of the wedding decorations, food and scenery were so vividly portrayed that I could almost see, hear, feel and smell the whole beautiful and magical experience. I love Veronica's style. I could have continued reading this for twice the amount of time the book lasted - it was so lovely. I wonder how she is going to top this but I wait with eager anticipation for her next book. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

This is a nice light read perfect for a summer's day. The location of this story and it's description, whisks you away and makes you believe you are on the beach with Robyn and Jake.

Robyn and Jake are a perfect match. They are both so laid back and easy to get on with. Reading about their relationship made me feel so happy and good about the world. This book follows the story of Robyn. She's in a perfect point in her life. She is about to get married, expecting a baby and building the house of her dreams. Life is good 😊

But, on her eighteenth birthday her mother gave her a box. A box that hasn't been opened until now. What secrets are within the box? Will what's inside turn Robyn's world upside down?

I enjoyed this story and how it developed. We get a narrative from the past that helps us unlock the mystery of the box. And, I enjoyed this as it gave us more of an understanding as to the reasons behind the decisions.

We also follow the stories of the secondary characters in this tale. And, I really enjoyed discovering new things and going on a journey with each one. Learning about the people in Robyn's life made her character more rounded and relatable.

A Wedding At the Beach Hut is a heartwarming tale of dealing with the past to make a brighter future.

4-5 stars.

If you’re searching for a book for right now to escape into then look no further, as I happily immersed myself in this one for a few hours of reading for sheer pleasure. The location is Everdene in gorgeous Devon, the beach hut is the somewhat dilapidated ‘Shedquarters’ owned by Rocky Young who along with sons Jake and Ethan use it as their surfing base. Jake’s girlfriend Robyn is the adopted daughter of Sheila and Mick and she has a sister, Clover. Robyn decides to trace her birth mother Emily and ill say no more!!!

This is a well written, feel good, emotional story which leaves you a teary mess in places but smiling with joy at others. The story goes from the present day and back to Emily’s story from 1988 and this flows really well. It’s the characters that makes this book such a pleasure to read as they are all so likeable and clearly depicted so you can visualise them, and some are a visually colourful joy! It’s hard to select any for especial ’likeability’ but I think I’d like to channel my inner Gwen who is the most wonderful and true friend to Robyn and Emily for her resilience. There’s more to this than the usual contemporary fiction romance as it sheds particular light on family dynamics and issues such as adoption in Robyn’s case though her adoption is truly wonderful and divorce in the case of Rocky and his lovely boys. Emily’s story growing up is a tough one and you feel so much empathy for what she goes through. Clover and Robyn’s relationship is lovely too as is the mother/daughter dynamic between Sheila and Robyn and Sheila’s emotions are so easy to understand. The setting is wonderful, a sea side setting? Yes please. With the added bonus of a beach hut? Oh definitely sign me up!!

Overall, a well written, good quality emotional easy read, it’s entertaining and absolutely perfect for Covid avoidance or at any time you just want to feel good.

With thanks to NetGalley and Orion Books for the ARC

A perfect read to whisk you away and immerse you in the lives of Robyn and her soon to be husband Jake. Robyn is in the midst of planning her wedding whilst dealing with lots of emotions and debating whether now is the time to reach out to her birth mother.

Set in a wonderful location, I loved the mix of the fields of bluebells on the family farm and the beach hut where they spend so much time surfing and having family BBQ's. Both families were full of wonderful characters, I loved the vibrance of Clover and how she seemed to light up every room she enters and Gwen always there to lend an ear and wisdom. The relationships were wonderfully detailed and the characters easy to visualise which just made the book even more appealing to immerse myself in.

A story that unfolds and draws you in as emotions are laid on the table, the wording makes moments throughout this book really poignant and I was taken on an emotional journey that made me laugh, cry and smile as the story unravelled.

A truly brilliant book that I loved and where I could easily have kept reading about these wonderful characters and what would come next for them.

The Beach Hut at Everdene is being up-cycled for a wedding in the family by its owner Rocky. Robyn and Jake, Rocky’s son want a simple Family & Friends-wedding, stylish, casual but low-key and are delighted to accept Rocky’s offer of the family hut for their ‘do’ after the Registry Office wedding. It seems ideal for them as they live nearby so no-one will have far to travel and can be waiting at the beach hut for the family and the happy newly-marrieds to arrive. The icing on the cake is that Robyn’s trusted friend has offered to do the catering for them as a wedding gift.
Robyn and Jake are newly engaged and expecting their first baby. Robyn’s sister and adoptive mother take her out to buy their wedding outfits so that there will not be too much hassle now that everything about the wedding is arranged. Hopefully they’ll also be already settled in to their new house before their much loved baby arrives as well. Jake is going to have a Stag party but Robyn is dead set against a Hen party for her. They are busy trying to get their new house completed and add the little touches that will give their house a real feel of a home.
Niggling at Robyn is the maternal need to know her family history and to find out who she is, so she has secretly initiated a search to find her birth mother. When she receives a letter in reply she doesn’t know what to do. She loves her adoptive mother and father, Sheila and Mick, so much and she hasn’t told Jake either. She has had a wonderful life on their farm by the sea. She doesn’t want to hurt them, especially just before the wedding, but never-the-less she travels to Bath to a café where she and her birth mother have agreed to meet. Her birthmother Emily must have got cold feet and decided to leave well enough alone, because she is a ‘no-show’ despite Robyn having a long wait. Perhaps it is for the best she thinks, and so gets up to go, feeling she must look at it positively.
Matters are taken out of her hands though and soon Robyn finds out that other people in her family have been keeping secrets themselves, and now me too, because there are no spoilers to be let out by me either. Suffice it to say, if you have liked the route my review has taken, you’ve not got long to wait for this heart-warming family story to be released, as it is out in just a matter of days.
I enjoyed this novel in so many ways, from the absorbing and multifaceted storyline to the beautifully lyrical writing and also the skilled creation and development of the cast of lovely characters. Just what more could anybody wish for in a novel? It is impossible me to decide who my favourite character is because there were so many characters that I admired, but I really liked the warmth of both bride and groom’s family and friends. Anyone would love to have such generous, supportive and caring friends. I liked and felt empathy for them all with their many points of view, their love, compassion and empathy. I loved the tender romance and the way the author brought the story to an end with not only the newly-marrieds but the entire family having their own new beginnings. I also loved the family issues that were embedded deeply in this story.
I received this book through my membership of NetGalley and from publisher Orion in return for an honest review. Thank you most sincerely for my copy. I have always been an avid fan of Veronica Henry, a truly talented author who strives to write a beautiful story for others to enjoy time after time. It’s a well-deserved 4.5* review from me.

A Wedding at the Beach Hut by Veronica Henry

How nice to be back in the little Devon seaside town of Everdene, with its line of beach huts down by the shore. Veronica Henry has charmed me with many books centred on these little home from homes and I feel full of anticipation at the thought of beginning another such story. Add to that the promise of a wedding in such an idyllic setting, and I couldn’t wait to get started.

The story centres primarily on Robyn, who is preparing for motherhood and her marriage to Jake. Plans are going ahead for the small wedding to be celebrated at Jake’s family’s beach hut; it promises to be a happy and informal day. However, Robyn has other things on her mind as well. There are some secrets about her past, clues to which are contained in a box she has been keeping unopened for most of her adult life. It suddenly seems important to her to open the box and discover those clues, but she is uncertain of the consequences for herself and others if she does.

I have read and loved all of Veronica Henry’s beach hut stories, but this is undoubtedly the most emotional one so far. Robyn’s story is so moving that it had me in tears several times. The book is really well written, dealing as it does not only with the wedding aspect, but also with the history of other marriages and with relationships past and present. It is filled with strong, lifelike characters and with totally believable situations. As you can probably tell, I loved this book and would highly recommend it to other readers; fans of Veronica Henry will of course be drawn to it, and those new to this author will undoubtedly look for more of her work afterwards.

I love Veronica Henry's books and I was delighted to receive an early preview copy from Netgalley and the Publisher.
This book is set in the fictional Dorset village of Everdene, which is the setting for the Beach Hut series. This book can easily be read as a standalone novel though.
There is not a single character in this book who I do not like, which is very unusual for me. The characters are well developed and have a depth of character.
The storyline revolves around Robyn and her upcoming wedding. She has always known that she is adopted, but know feels the need to find her birth Mother before she is married.
It is difficult to review this book without giving away any spoilers. The delicate topic of adoption, is dealt with sympathetically, although it is still thoughtful and poignant in places. It still manages to be heartwarming and enjoyable.
The plot moves between Robyn and her relationship with her parents and Husband to be, and the events leading up to her adoption as a baby. It flows effortlessly between the two, and it is very well written.
I absolutely love the setting of the beach huts, and each book in the series makes me dream about owning a beach hut. It would be the perfect relaxing getaway at the moment. The book provides a wonderful escapism to Lockdown.

I was so happy when Netgalley accepted my request to read this ARC, so a big thank you to you.

Its really hard to write this review without giving too much away and spoiling it for future readers, but the story focuses on Emily and Robyn.
Robyn is about to marry the love of her life but certain issues need to be dealt with first before she can focus on the future. How much do these issues stand in the way of the wedding?

I loved all of the characters in this story, especially Emily. Her story was very moving and beautifully delivered in the book. I also had a very big soft spot for Gwen who also features a lot in the book. Glamour oozes from her and i would ver much like to be Gwen when i am that age.

Its was lovely to be back in Everdene, a place I have fallen in love with during “The Beach Hut” series.

Reading books by Veronica Henry are always bitter sweet as i get so sad when i finish the books. I invest everything in them and i really am transported into that world along with her characters. I say it after every book, and she really is my favourite other.

An absolutely beautiful book. Everyone must read books by Veronica Henry!!

Robyn Moss had always known she was adopted. Her mum Sheila gave her a box her birth mother had given her on her 18th birthday but Robyn's never felt the need to know.....until now

She's 30th and works as a Landscape Gardener, a job which brings her so much joy. It's here she meets boyfriend Jake who is the love of her life. Steady, dependable, kind and loyal Jake. It's all about family - they meet up with his Dad, Rocky and brother Ethan every Friday for a catch up with her folks and sister to chit chat about their week at Shedquarters, Rocky's lovely beach hut at Everdene Bay. Life is idyllic.

When Robyn finds out she's pregnant the need to connect with her birth mother becomes real and behind their backs she makes tentative steps to meet her. Emily has never forgotten her baby or the love she has for Jonathan, Robyn's birth dad. Robyn decides to opens the box which came with her to Hawksworthy Farm when she was three months old and as she does so finds there's no going back...

When Jake proposes she's the happiest she's ever been and is delighted when old friend and neighbour Gwen steps in the organise the wedding. Gwen's got a new neighbour the dashing Boyd, whom she's grown to depend on in a very short space of time.

Tina, Jake and Ethan's mum is back on the scene hoping for forgiveness and friendship and Rocky is embarking on new love after all this time. Emily's story and letter made me cry. I was so happy she found Jonathan again. It's a story of family, friendship, love, heartache, sadness, happiness and new beginnings. I absolutely adored the storylines and characters (and would love a second book to see what happens next!)

This is the perfect read for our troubling times, Veronica Henry writes so beautifully and fluently, providing a wonderful background location in Everdene on the coast for us to immerse ourselves in the family dramas, the trials and tribulations, the challenges, and the love and friendships of Robyn Moss. I was unaware quite how anxious, tense and worried I was until I started reading this and felt myself relaxing and escaping into the perfectly pitched myriad of emotive storylines that revolve around 30 year old landscape gardener Robyn, the loved and adopted daughter of her parents, raised on the idyllic Hawksworthy Farm. Robyn has been in a long term with her beloved Jake with whom she is in business, running The Moss Partnership, which after much hard won success, is a source of pride and accomplishment. Robyn is pregnant, Jake has proposed, and the wedding, reflecting Robyn's down to earth, casual and carefree nature, is to take place at Shedquarters, a beach hut owned by Rocky, Jake's father.

Robyn and Jake are finishing the work on their new home, The Linhay, which they hope to move in soon and completing their biggest contract to date, the Ibiza themed Mariscombe Hotel. Whilst everything appears perfect, Robyn feels blessed by life, and happy with the friends and family that are integral to her, she now has a desperate need to know more about her birth mother, Emily. Up until now she has been less than curious about Emily, even though on her 18th birthday she had been presented with a box from her, the contents of which Robyn has never been tempted to explore. Robyn now seeks more information about the circumstances of her birth and with the exception of her friend Gwen, tells no-one in her family, not even Jake, not wanting to hurt or worry anyone. In a narrative where Robyn's family and friends pull together to ensure Robyn and Jake have a wonderful wedding, we learn more about the various characters, including Emily and Jonathan, their backstories, the traumas and challenges, and their hopes and fears.

Henry is a excellent author when it comes to writing feel good contemporary fiction, if you have yet to encounter her books, this is a great example of the kind of novels she writes. I adored the characters, particularly the haunted and traumatised Emily and Robyn's friend, Gwen, who acquires a promising new neighbour in the bereaved Boyd. Gwen is Robyn's wedding planner, a project she undertakes with great enthusiasm, gusto, love and flair. This is a beautiful, emotionally engaging and lovely entertaining read, although heartbreak portrayed had me in tears at times. If you are looking for a novel for our worrying times, I have no hesitation in recommending this as the perfect antidote. Many thanks to Orion for an ARC.

A book that made me smile and cry.

Firstly, I would like to thank Net Gallery for an advanced copy of this book.

I have read a few of Veronica Henry's books from this series and loved the feel of them. At first I was worried that the book would link to others from the series I hadn't read, but it was a stand alone novel.

This book itself is a beautiful heartfelt piece of writing which was lovely from start to finish.
The characters felt real and I related to all in someway; each have their own stories to tell. Robyn and Jake, Shelia an Mick, Rocky ,Tina and of course Gwen. The story mainly revolves around Robyn and Jake and their journey into their new lives getting married and becoming parents but then turns quite suddenly into Robyn's story of getting in touch with her adoptive parents.

These stories were all touched upon by the author. Yet, I feel I wanted to know more about each of them: Mick and his journey losing his herd; Shelia and her inability to carry a child until having Clover; Tina and her work at the refuge, Gwen and being stood up at her wedding and Rocky.... Yeah just more about him. We, as readers are given snippets but I wanted more information, more meat on the bones.

I loved the story of Emily and Jonathan. As a new, first time mum I cried for Emily when giving up her daughter. The words Vanessa uses to describe their last night together broke me... " I was in a complex tangle of joy and fear, committing every little bit of you to memory so I would never forget so much as an eyelash; a fingernail. My love – our love– was so pure and fierce, but it was tangled up with terror and anxiety." And then when I wasn't a total mess thinking of the heartbreak she must be going through, I was finished by the author simply syaing, "You held my finger throughout that last night. I don’t know how I managed to sleep, but you didn’t let it go."

I held on to my little girl a little tighter.

Despite this orrific incident and others which I won't mention, the book manages to make everything better and happy.

Thank you for the pleasure of reading this book of happy families.
