Mythopedia is a collection of myths focused on the animals and creatures of many cultures.
The book is split into sections of continents which makes it easier if you want to read a more specific culture.

This book has to be the most beautiful books I have ever seen, as it is full of colour and the art is amazing!

The stories are interesting and precise which will definitely help the younger readers, and as each story is roughly around one to three pages long, it doesn't all have to be read like a novel- it can be picked up pretty much anywhere and read in any order.

This book is aimed at children but it can be read by any age group.

I definitely recommend this to parents who want to educate their children about different culture's beliefs.

This book was so nice to look at! The cover alone already took my attention and I was for sure not dissapointed by the inside of this book! The illustrations are stunning and I loved reading about all the mythological creatures, since it is something that I am very interested in!

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Mythopedia is the encyclopedia that I wish I could have had growing up. The range of cultures that the authors of this book have pulled the mythology from is so refreshing as it gives introductions to mythical creatures from West Africa to Green to Japanese, in the most accessible way, and not just exclusively for children. Adults too will find some much to treasure in this book.

The accompanying illustrations are breathtaking and there will be some you’ll want to have as prints on your walls. It is the most stunningly created book, and is one that I recommend on a daily basis to customers in the bookshop I work at.

This book was beautifully written with absolutely stunning illustrations. I really enjoyed reading and seeing the different mythical creatures all over the world and loved how the book was ordered into different continents. Whilst this is an encyclopaedia, it feels like a storybook which I think is a great way for children especially to take in this information

This was a wonderful collection of myths and monsters with beautiful illustrations. The encyclopedia illustrations are paired with their respective tales from around the world. More engaging than your typical encyclopedia!

A beautifully illustrated, accessible encyclopaedia of mythical creatures from myths and legends around the world, this truly is the perfect gift for children, young adults and adults alike. It was so fascinating seeing these myths collected into one compendium and to learn about all of the different cultures they originate from. I can’t wait to buy this for my cousins baby when she gets older!

A wonderful collection of myths from all over the world, both popular ones and those that are lesser known. I really thought it was a great variety of myths.

This is absolutely gorgeous from the writing to the illustrations. It’s a must for any classroom reading corner and would be equally at home in a young person’s bedroom. An ideal gift for anyone interested in mythology.

Beautifully illustrated and perfect for my son & I to enjoy reading & learning together. The stories for each creature are a perfect length for a short bedtime story. Gorgeous book which would make an ideal gift for both children and adults alike!

We currently have too many mythology books in our collection, but I will absolutely be adding this to book list suggestions for parents whose kids are ALL IN for the subject.

I was lucky to receive an arc of Mythopedia An Encyclopedia of Mythical Beasts And Their Magical Tales by Good Wives and Warriors via Netgalley. Unfortunately I was unable to read it on my phone as the writing for me was impossible to read so I made up my mind to purchase the book physically and oh my am I glad I made this decision. I have to admit I am not really into mythology but this wonderful book with it's different beasts from different parts of the world, the most stunning artwork I have ever seen and then stories featuring some of these beasts my mind was blown and I want to read more books about mythology my appetite has been wetted. Even though this book is meant for children I belief that anyone will enjoy it and for this reason I give it 4 stars

This was a delightful book! It looks at mythic beasties from around the world, giving information on the creature, and presenting a myth or folkstory featuring it. The art is d@mn gorgeous. I want a hardcopy for my mythology bookshelf! Highly recommended for those who enjoy mythology and fantastic beasties.

"Mythopedia" is a beautifully illustrated collection of tales and myths from all over the world.

The illustrations are colorful and absolutely stunning and the legends about mythical beasts are wonderfully curated.

I wish this collection had included even more stories.

This is a little book about mythical creatures and some short stories involving them. For such a short book, it is very informative and it made me want to read more about these creatures. The descriptions were kept short and interesting, while the short stories were fun and entertaining. I have discovered some new mythological creatures I never knew about.

My favourite aspect of this book were the illustrations. They are part of the description and the story. Every creature has its own illustration and it is wonderful.

I cannot recommend this book enough. It is beautiful, interesting and very informative. :)

A really beautiful book, I could delve into this for hours. I love mythology and folklore and this book is fascinating with information from mythology from all over the world. Lots of stuff I hadn’t heard of before.
