I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book, however I wasn’t disappointed this is a well written and gripping thriller that keeps you in suspense. Very enjoyable

This certainly wasn’t what I was expecting.
I read this authors last book and loved it.
I was asked if I’d like to read her latest.

I didn’t bother reading the blurb. I just went straight in.
Going by the title I thought oh, maybe she’s written a chic lit or contemporary book this time and not a thriller.
It didn’t matter to me as I loved her style in her first book.

Oh it’s a suspense/thriller. Fact.

Based around a Baby Group, this sure opened my eyes to some facts in life I’ve taken on board.

When your past life comes back to haunt you, not good if it’s something you try to forget.

But this is so much more.

No spoilers from me.
Just take from my review and thoughts that this book although fiction really does make you think.

We’ve had books that make us think how free we are with people on the Internet who we’ve never met. It’s surprising how much we give away of our personal life and details.

But what about real life?

This so made think.
The characters in this you will find some not so nice, some who get on your nerves and others you like.
The main character is flawed, has a past and you may just see past that and like her.

I would recommend this book to readers who like stalkers, past misdeeds, thrillers that keep you guessing and those who live a bit of family life thrown in.

I really liked it.

Great book! Couldn’t wait to read it, and it didn’t disappoint! Grabbed my attention within the first two chapters, and then I didn’t want to put it down. Excellent character development - I think that every reader will find a character to whom they relate. I enjoy books where there is character development, and then also a surprise, and this book provided both! Looking forward to reading more from this author!

In Caroline Corcoran's the Baby Group, this thriller is so twisted and creepy that it'll leave you at the edge of your seat. Scarlett Salloway thought she had the perfect life in Sowerton, England. Married to a great guy, had an adorable baby girl named Poppy, working in a posh job, managed a CheshireMama blog. But it all shattered when someone leaked a video of her having sex with two guys to everyone including from family, friends, and her coworkers. Not everyone knew about that hidden secret including her three friends from her NCT group. That shock slammed her hard since it reminded her of her past, when she made a lot of horrible mistakes before she changed her life. It was up to her to figure out who exploited her dirty little secret real fast. It already caused a strain in her marriage and forced her to quit her job. When she sought her NCT friends for help as her world fell apart, it made her question everything and everyone around her, even when she shut down her blog and pulled the plug. If that wasn't enough, someone's been texting her husband dirty lies about her and throwing her perfect life into a tailspin, while he's been seeing someone from the gym. In the end, it's up to Scarlett to salvage everything if she could and put an end to this madness before it consumes her with a shocking explosive twist in the end.

I enjoyed this book. It was a progressive tale full of twists and turns. Gripped me from the start and kept me guessing until the very end. Would recommend.

The Baby Group by Caroline Corcoran was a great book with twists and turns throughout. I was hooked from the first few pages and read it in one sitting as I could not put it down. I was gripped reading about the group of women who were thrown together after joining antenatal classes and how they spend so much time together which ends up with jealousy, hatred and a whole lot more.

I didn’t really enjoy this book. Although I liked the concept and the mystery/thriller element, I didn’t really care about any of the characters, and I also didn’t enjoy the writing very much. 1/5 stars, this book was just not for me.

I didn’t know what to expect with this book as it lead you to believe it was a physiological thriller but when I started to read it in places it was quite funny. I did get rather frustrated as it was quite a lengthy read and the storyline could’ve been told in half the time. I found it to be very repetitive in parts but on the whole it was a good read with a twist that I didn’t see coming

This was a fantastic little number that had me hooked from the very first page, This is the first book i've read from Caroline Corcoran and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

' Her life was perfect. Until the video.' - If this isn't enough to draw you in then you are missing out on a truly gripping thriller!

Scarlett seems to have it all- A handsome husband, a lovely home, a good job she enjoys, a beautiful daughter and she is also an influencer with a broad following base on social media- This would be enough to make a few people green eyed over her perfect life and want to send shock waves in Scarlett's perfect world - and that is just what happens when Scarlett returns to work after maternity leave, On her first day back which is emotional and hard enough for her leaving her young daughter with a childminder a sex tape from Scarlett's past is circulating on the internet and everyone much to Scarlett's horror has seen this footage that has been posted online, Her friends have seen it, her colleagues have seen it, her husband has seen it along with his colleagues, her followers on social media have seen it, even her parents and childminder!.... Horrified and deeply embarrassed Scarlett has to embark on a journey into her past to find out who has uploaded this video and more importantly why after all of these years? The only friends who claim they haven't seen the video is Scarlett's small group of friends from her antenatal class they meet up each week with their children, Are these friends telling the truth? Why would everyone else in Scarlett's life be sent the video but not this small group of friends?

These are the questions that will keep you engrossed until the very last page, I could not put it down and read it from cover to cover in one day it is most definitely the definition of a 'page turner' with a fantastic twist at the end that you will never see coming!

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy of this wonderful book in exchange for my honest review.

Rating: 3 1/2 🍷 🍷 🍷
Book: The Baby Group
Release Date: Available Now (September 17, 2020)
Author: Caroline Corcoran
Genre: Mystery & Thrillers/General Adult Fiction

Sipping Synopsis: Scarlett is a successful businesswoman whose life is turned upside down when someone releases an old sex tape to all her friends, family, and coworkers. Well from that point on, Scarlett tries to find out who sent the tape-was it the man in the video, a friend, or someone from the new baby group? She wallows in pity, has anxiety attacks, drinks, wonders who sent the tape…rinse…repeat…😵

Final sipping thoughts: Well as you can see, I thought the book was very repetitive. Luckily, that was until around 75% in. Yeah, I know that is like pretty much the whole book. However, I am glad I kept reading because the last 25% was very juicy and twisted and earned the book an extra star and a half. If you want a book that will suck, you in and keep you there from the start then I would say skip this book for now. If you have some time and can be patient, then I think ultimately you will like this book…after experiencing a little groundhog’s dayishness 😆.

Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley, @Avon and @AvonBooksUK for an advanced copy of @TheBabyGroup

Scarlett seems to have the perfect life with the husband and beautiful baby girl and running a blog post that is gaining popularity, and even has a mommy group who have become her closest friends.

On the day Scarlett is due to return to work after the birth of her baby a video of scarletts past has been sent out to everyone she knows, a video that has been set to destroy Scarlets ‘perfect’ life and the perpetrator may be close to home.

Wasn’t a huge fan of this book so rating it a 2, I didn’t really find anything wrong with this book it’s more I’ve just grown out of this trope of pettiness and jealousy amongst mother groups.
So this one wasn’t for me but who knows maybe this one would be for you!

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer? That's what this mom needs to consider as it seems her group of "friends" may not be what they seem. Intense and entertaining read!

Very interesting premise. Unfortunately, I just couldn't get into this one. A little too slow for me.

I absolutely flew through The Baby Group thanks to its gripping story. The author built up the intensity by including chapters from the culprit’s point of view, while also divulging tidbits of information as the book progresses, showing us that this person is closer to Scarlett than she originally thought. But who exactly that person is is something you are kept guessing about until the very end.

While The Baby Group was totally my kind of book, it was not the story itself that won me over; it was its reflection on society. Through Scarlett, the author deals with the very real topics of slut-shaming and revenge porn. As much as we believe ourselves to be a modern society, the woman still comes out worse in these situations, with men often seen as a “hero” when it comes to their sex life. And what is saddest of all is the fact that women are each other's enemies rather than a support system, more often than not.

There are times when Scarlett doesn’t really stand a chance against the opinion of others – and that’s beside her sex tape. As the reader, we learn that many of the other characters in the book find Scarlett to be selfish, vain, self-absorbed, at fault in this entire scenario. What I found interesting is that the reader doesn’t really get the chance to formulate their own opinion of her. There are no obvious outliers that present Scarlett in this way; we are simply coming to a conclusion based on what other characters are telling us. This tactic made me feel more empathy towards Scarlett and had me really rooting for her as she fights not only to unearth the culprit but hold herself together as well.

I love domestic suspense involving moms and babies, so reading this book was a no brainer for me! It took a bit for me to get into this one, but it did get pretty good towards the middle. The clues and hints left me guessing till the end. This was a good book to pass the time!

Scarlett, a successful business woman is just about to return to work. She is living a idyllic new life. A new home in a charming village with her equally successful husband and gorgeous baby girl. A new set of Mum friends get her through the new life with baby. Then a truly shocking event happens that brings her crashing down. A good read with lots of twists and turns. As Scarlett backs away from her old life her new friends are there for her. However, are they as innocent as they seem. Does everyone have the perfect lives they portray. Do they really know each other as they think they do. A really gripping read with lots of red herrings and an unexpected ending.

I gave this book three stars because it was middle of the road for me. I loved the premise and the characters are distinct and somewhat interesting. It just took awhile for things to get interesting which made it hard to finish. I liked the ending, so I'm happy I kept reading. I'll definitely read more from this author in the future.

Interesting and horrifying!!

The mystery behind the plot was interesting and it was extremely horrifying to know that an old threesome sex tape of Scarlett had been deliberately circulated to her husband, father, immediate and extended family, work colleagues, and clients. Basically to everyone on her contact list except her ante-natal group of friends, the mum group.

A debut thriller by author Caroline Corcoran, I read it with dread for Scarlett as she traversed the painful path of embarrassment and anger toward someone who was stepwise destroying her.

With virtually no support from her straight-laced husband, Ed, I hoped she would get a break soon. Her father on the other hand was very supportive, but he didn’t have much of a role. She did try to solve the mystery all on her own, and I hoped that she would succeed soon.

A mistake by the perp, and I too came to the same conclusion as her down the pages and waited for her to take that person down. Taking down the video after it became viral was perhaps quite impossible.

The story was gripping in its barebones, but my main grouse was Scarlett had too many introspective thoughts which became pages of narration where my attention got diverted.

Overall, it was still an interesting tale, and I was sure Ms. Corcoran’s next book would be brilliant.
