Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

I can’t really review this book to its full potential as I haven’t read the others and I presumed this was book 1. I am going to read the others though as they do sound interesting

Beautifully written conclusion to a wonderful series. Mafi draws you in with incredible character dynamics and development throughout the series. This was a fitting conclusion.

A very hyped series that I haven’t had the chance to start before but with this copy, I understand why people are looking forward to read it.
I am not a big fan of fantasy books and sometimes I got confused by what’s actually happening in here but overall I enjoyed it quite a bit and will definitely read more in the future.

Absolutely loved this addition to the series, some have said that they did not enjoy it so much but I really feel like this book extended on the wonderful world that Tahereh Mafi has built through this series.

This was only a sample of the book but I have read the first trilogy in this series.
The writing is very lyrical with some beautiful turns of phrase but after a while it gets exhausting because you are trying to just figure out what is actually happening.
I am sure that fans of the series will enjoy this but it requires more investment than the average series because of how much is going on.

Sadly I fell out of love with this series as quickly as I fell in love with it. The first 2 were so good. It started to unravel a bit in book 3 but I never finished book 4 and probably won't continue with the series anymore as it just seemed to lose momentum.

*This is my review of the whole book*

Wow, this book was such a disappointment. An absolute mess is what it was. This is the last book in a series that I was so obsessed with because it was so different and now the last book sucks 😭

Writing style: Mafi has a very particular writing style throughout the Shatter Me series but somehow she managed to write this book completely differently... The writing that I fell in love with was cruelly ripped away from me by this mess of a book...

Characters: Everyone was so flat in this book, omg, what a disappointment. Even Kenji was boring... KENJI. BORING. I would have laughed at anyone who said I'd someday consider that dude boring.
Warner and Kenji are my faves in this series and Imagine Me includes mostly them as the main attraction, which would have made me so excited if this book was not such a disaster.

Story: What. A. Mess. This doesn't even deserve to be called a poorly written fanfiction, it's worse than that. Nothing is explained. NOTHING. Mafi makes one big plot twist in Defy Me, but barely gives us information on what exactly happened. Then she makes us wait for waaaay too long for Imagine Me, only to not explain anything and call it an end... AAAAAAAAAH I'm so frustrated and sad 😩

I just want to forget all about this book. Too bad I can't stand having unfinished series on my shelves so I'll still keep the physical copy next to the rest of the series (at least the cover is pretty) but boy oh boy I hate this book. It's getting 1,5 stars. Why not just 1 star? I save the 1 star for my DNFed books.

Good teaser for readers who have read the series. complex plot and good character development. Excited to read the whole book.

Ok i’ll be honest, I’ve only read till Ignite Me so I was hella confused throughout these 3 chapters. With that said I really can’t judge how the 2nd half of this series adds on to the first half just based on 3 chapters.

I really just need more of Tahereh's writing! I have loved the Shatter Me series, and this little chapter sampler of the final book reminded me how much! I can't wait until my copy of Imagine Me arrives so I can finish reading it!

I absolutely love every single of Tahereh Mafi's books and this time it's not any different, so I'm really glad I could've read the sampler and right now all I can say is I need to read the whole book!

I feel like it's going to be really emotional and adorable adventure.

If you haven't read the series yet, I don't know what you're doing here - just go and get it!

One of my favourite series and authors, definitely. <3

This sampler did not make me excited to read the full book, it actually makes me dread picking it up. So far it was weird and wasn't making a lot of sense and by the reviews I've read, it looks like the rest of the book is the same and doesn't seem to get any better. I'll still read it for Warner but I'm not looking forward to it.

I really enjoyed reading this sampler. So much so that I have ordered the box set of the series! Very well written and can't wait to continue the story

This is just the first chapter or so of the wider story, but it really drew me in! I enjoyed seeing where the story was going to go, and it definitely made me want to pick up the actual book! I'm excited to finally continue the story!

Rating: 4.5/5 stars

My heart is sad that this series is over *cries*

This book was a freaking WHIRLWIND OH MY GOSH!!! I had many emotions.

To be honest, I had no idea what this book was going to be about. I just went in for a fun time and to see how this series would end. Which was actually probably the best way to read it.

The plot is all over the place, which I find is the common issue I have with the Shatter Me series. I don't mind it too much because I'm a character reader. It was a tad slow in the beginning and I kinda didn't know what was supposed to be happening. And even though the middle part was weird, I still found it very fascinating and I didn't hate it.

But omg I truly love Tahereh's writing. I sometimes have no idea what she's saying but I think that's the point fml.

But what I REALLY love is of course: WARNETTE. I just,,, I have nothing to say for myself. I'm trash. I just want to protect my dear baby Aaron Warner with everything in me. And by extension, we have to protect Juliette. Yes, I give you full permission to slap me across the face. I can't help who I am. Can Warner take me in his arms now PLEASE!!

Speaking of, I do feel betrayed that WE DIDN'T GET MORE OF WARNER'S POV! Like, excuse me?? I don't hate Kenji but eh I would have preferred to be in Warner's head instead. I just don't really care for his POV you know, I love him don't get me wrong. Can I just see Kenji through Warner and Juliette? AHHH

And then THAT ENDING!! OMG!! It was really great. There are still a ton of loose ends and I wanted more but I enjoyed it none the less.

my heart is not ready to say goodbye ahhhhh

I'm a fan of this series, although the last book was too short for me, the chapter sample proved to be interesting enough for me to buy the book soon.
I can't wait to read the rest of this book! Tahereh Mafi created an amazing universe.

Sample chapter generously provided via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Okay, this was just a little taster to the conclusion of a series that I have loved for years! I cannot believe it is ending already, I feel like Tahereh just announced Restore me the other day :(
But despite the bittersweet feeling of finishing this series, I am so excited to read the full conclusion, because I know it will not disappoint, Tahereh has expanded this world to means I never would have imagined!

A little teaser to wet the appetite of fans, and while I think fans might enjoy this sampler and where this series is going and I'm intrigued to read the original trilogy, I'm not sure if I would read the latter 3 books. The first trilogy had interesting ideas with how the story was written, complex characters and complex character development but there's something about the latter books in the series that feel a little add-on.
