This was an excellent procedural thriller that kept me literally entranced. The character depiction was on point and the story was fascinating and well developed.

This is the sixth book in the series featuring DI Gina Harte. I've read one or two of the others, although I don't think this is essential as it does work as a standalone pretty well.

The police are called to a wedding reception where one of the bridesmaids has been killed. DI Gina Harte picks up the investigation and learns that the murdered young woman had secrets which, if revealed, would cause shockwaves within the group of friends, family and locals involved in the party. As Harte struggles to unravel the truth, the stakes keep rising and she is in a race against time to uncover a very dangerous killer.

This is a well written and pacy police procedural novel and one I enjoyed very much. It keeps you guessing to the end and has twists that it's impossible to foresee. My only problem, which I think was something I felt about previous books too, is that I didn't really get a sense of the various police officers on Gina's team - a lot are just names and I got them confused because they didn't seem like real characters. However, this is a minor niggle in an otherwise engaging book.

I'd recommend this to any lovers of crime fiction. Its exciting and tense and will keep you turning the pages long into the night.

Holly Long is beautiful, poised, desired…and hated . Hours after performing her duties as a bridesmaid, Holly is found murdered. As police investigate, they discover that Holly was a very different woman in private than she appeared to be in public. It would appear that Holly had a secret, one she planned to reveal, one that would ruin the life of more than one person at the wedding

I absolutely loved this domestic thriller! I was hooked from the very first page to the crazy twisty ending. Perfectly developed characters that spin a tale of friendship, love, and passion. How much can we trust those we love? Every boundary pushed and every relationship taxed to the max. So many twists and turns that caught me completely by surprise.
Carla Kovach delivers again! She hits this one out of the park.
Highly recommend this thriller.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This was engaging mystery thriller and the best one yet.

DI Gina is called upon when the victim Holly is murder at her friends Kerry and Ed wedding. We learn that Holly has been seeing someone she shouldn’t and got pregnant because of it and decide to keep the baby but she also decide she was done with the person she was seeing. As Gina dive into finding out who Holly was seeing she learns that Holly was battled depression for years and her close friends felt something was wrong but didn’t really try hard enough to find out.

There are different POV because at one point you hearing a character inter dialogue but don’t know if it’s the killer or someone who wants to be heard. I love this series because Gina is flawed but is determined as she does her job all the while trying to rebuild her relationship with her daughter Hannah even though in my opinion she a bit of a brat and you’ll think she grow out of that consider she a mother too.

Did not expect that outcome... addictive reading

Whilst this is part of an ongoing Detective series, I've not read any previous books in it, and it does not effect your reading of this book.

It's written from different perspectives; DI Gina Harte senior investigating officer in this case, who is going through her own personal issues with her personal life, difficulties with her daughter. The Victim, events leading up to their untimely demise. The Killer, the predatory thoughts, hiding in plain site and the final moment. And finally Cass, who just wants to be liked.

Kerry and Ed have just got married, on the evening of their wedding reception Holly Long is murdered, and so it begins.... Many people, all with their own secrets.

Great read from the first page, just keeps getting better the more you read. I've not read any books by this author before, but definitely would do again.

This was yet another great read in the series . I love the Gina Harte series and was excited to read this .
Gina gets the call after a body is found at a wedding , Holly one of the bridesmaids has been found in her room , as usual the search is on for a murderer with loads of suspects and red herrings . Throw into the mix Gina's complicated relationship with her daughter and her boss and it was a fast paced , excellent read .

I HIGHLY recommend this to all readers who love a good detective procedural with strong characters and great storylines. Well-written! Great character development! Strong writing from beginning to end.

It's not often I stay up to this time of night to finish a book. But Gina Harte is an exception. There is something about Carla Kovach writing style that pulls you in from the get go and just will not let you stop until you have read every last word.

The dedications of her books are brilliant and always pull you in as you know it will relate to the story somewhere a long the line. But her brilliant talent of writing one breath taker of a prologue really hits the nail on the head.

What I absolutely love about this series is that there is such a web of suspicion woven throughout. There are little clues that make you think you could give any detective a run for their money. But how wrong are you by the time you get to the end?!

DI Gina Harte and her team are fast becoming some of my favourite book characters and I cant wait for the next installment. I NEED MORE!

Just finished Her Last Mistake by Carla Kovach and Wow Wow Wow!!! This was absolutely non stop from start to finish!!
I started this book this morning and have not been able to put it down at all!!
I absolutely adore this series and the more time I spend with D.I Harte the more I love her!
Carla forms all her characters so brilliantly that you feel you know them totally inside and out which makes living the story with them even more engrossing! Absolutely fantastic creator of characters!
The storyline that is covered grabbed me straight away and just completely draws you in. This book also has you guessing all the way through as there are so many possibilities as to who the killer is, and so many reasons as to “why” too. I really didn’t want this book to end. Absolutely brilliant!

Yet another book of Carla’s that I have thoroughly enjoyed and will highly recommend

I want to first mention how much I love reading Carla’s dedications. They are always so lovely and always targeted to the theme of the book.

Great opening as always which takes your breath away. The storyline was full of suspicious characters that were well formed. This is one of the things I love about Carla Kovach novels. Characters that you route for, some you can’t help but hate and then the reoccurring characters and settings that bring a familiarity to her series. Her novels are always full of many threads of suspicion, the antagonist is never who you expect and there is always that little twist that you never even thought of. This book was fantastic and if you haven’t already read any of these books in the series you need to add them to your to be read list! You won’t be disappointed!
