Sixth book in the Gina Harte series. A woman is murdered at her friend's wedding, and Harte has to find her killer. I liked most of this book, but I did not care for the ending. It was kind of out there. I also can't stand Hannah, as I have mentioned before, and she plays more of a role in this book than usual. Three stars.

Her Last Mistake is another brilliant addition to the DI Gina Harte series but can be read as a stand alone novel too.

Holly Long is a bridesmaid at her friend Kerry's wedding along with her other friends Francesca and Lilly but for Holly what should have been a happy occasion turned out to be her last when she is brutally murdered in her hotel room.

DI Gina Harte is made the lead detective on the case and as the pressure mounts to find the perpetrator, Gina and her team must race against time to find the culprit and bring them to justice before more lives are put in danger or lost.

Love the team dynamics between Gina, Briggs, Jacob and Wyre and also seeing how Gina's personal life and her professional one often collide as she tries to juggle both and keep everyone happy.

The author does a great job balancing action, storyline and characters to make this a compulsive and gripping read and the unexpected and nail-biting twist at the end will certainly keep readers guessing to the very last page.

Brilliant novel- I loved it and comes highly recommended.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for an ARC for my honest review.

Holly and her other two friends are bridesmaids for their fourth friend, the awesome foursome, as they were known growing up. Holly is happy on the outside but inside she is torn and on the evening of the reception she is murdered. Soon it would seem someone Gina Harte could have more than one dead bridesmaid on her hands.
Gina is back for the 6th instalment in one of my favourite crime series. I have loved everyone of these books and this was no exception. Gina is strong willed and moving to happier times with her love interest, Briggs.
Carla has done a wonderful job with making Gina a tortured woman recovering from her past and how it moulds Gina into the person and police officer she is today. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Love Gina Harte and love this series! A murdered bridesmaid gets Gina and her team working together again and we get to see more of her fractured relationship with her daughter and the tentative relationship with Biggs is still bubbling in the background! Can’t wait for the next one!

Another fantastic read from Carla, I just love her books and Detective Gina Harte and her problems. This book held my interest throughout with so many twists and turns and such interesting characters I couldn't decide who the killer was, would never have guessed. A very worthy five stars from me.

I can thoroughly recommend this book and I look forward to number 7 in this series, I just hope Gina can settle down and find what she is looking for.

Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this brilliant book, well done Carla I look forward to number 7.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Her Last Mistake, the sixth novel to feature DI Gina Harte set in the fictional Warwickshire town of Cleevesford.

Holly Long has secrets so when she is murdered at her best friend’s wedding it is up to Gina and the team to uncover them and find a killer.

I thoroughly enjoyed Her Last Mistake which is a compulsive read with plenty of twists and turns that I finished in one sitting. The novel is told from various points of view, mostly Gina with Holly having her say before her death and the obsessive, unhappy Cass whose role in the proceedings is cloudy until all is revealed. The plot is engrossing with several characters having a motive or whose actions draw suspicion. I found myself constantly puzzling over various permutations, motive v opportunity etc. and while I guessed a small part of it the final twist left me surprised. It is well done.

The investigation is only part of the novel as it also has a fair amount to say about Gina’s personal life. As ever, her relationship with her daughter, Hannah, is brittle and hurtful. I find Hannah extremely tedious and wish she would grow up and act like the mother she is rather than a deeply unpleasant, stroppy teenager. It’s always all about her. I dislike every page she is in. On the upside Gina is starting to become friends with her boss and former lover DCI Briggs. This brings the warmth she needs into her life and adds a spark to the novel.

Her Last Mistake is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

Carla Kovach's Her Last Mistake features fan-favorite Detective Gina Harte - still struggling with relationships both with a potential significant other, as well as (and more importantly), her daughter. One thing Gina doesn't struggle with is her job... she's a deep and thoughtful detective. Her new case involves the murder of a wedding guest, and neatly overlaps with one of Gina's recently solved case. It's interesting how she navigates the overlap, especially when it starts to involve her family. It's a great addition to the Series! Thank you!

Wow what a bloody fantastic book! I couldnt put this down I was so engrossed in it. I love this series and this book didn’t disappoint it was excellent. The characters are great, it was like meeting up with old friends, I enjoyed the storyline and the punches kept coming. Held my interest right from the first page and didn’t let me go until the end. A very well deserved 5 stars!

this serious is just amazing. The deceit and intertwined lives. I was engulfed in the characters as always and did not want this adventure to end

The saying to never judge a book by it's cover comes into play in this thriller in multiple ways. First, the cover of this book is gorgeous! Second, Holly (the bridesmaid found dead) is a party girl that everyone loves to talk about... when in reality, she's nothing like what they seem to think...

BUT, like all good thrillers, she's got secrets. Detective Gina Harte has plenty of her own turmoil going on, but when called to solve the murder, she's on the case.

I found I couldn't put this down - which says a lot considering my attention span lately - and I loved the twists and turns to the finish line!

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this great book. This is the first Carla Kovach book I have read and although this is Book 6 in the GIna Harte series I did not feel like I was lost reading it. Holly Long is one of the bridesmaids at her best friend Kerry's wedding. Holly has a secret but won't get the opportunity to tell anyone as she is murdered the night of the wedding. This book had so many twists and turns I never knew what to expect next. Every time I thought I knew who killed Holly another twist came along. I really liked the character of Gina Harte and will continue to read other books in this series.
Definitely not a book to miss!

Holly Long has a secret, knows it won't stay that way for long but is excited about how it will change her life for the better. First though she is enjoying the wedding reception of one of her best friends, Kerry, who, along with the other two bridesmaids, Francesca and Lillly, were known as the awesome foursome and been inseparable since junior school.

By the time the evening got into full swing Holly had retired to her room and shortly after that is dead. DI Gina Harte, called back from leave to try to put the clues together and find the culprit, isn't good with weddings and bad memories keep fighting for freedom, catching her unawares and leaving her vulnerable. Adding to her problems are her daughter, home for a rare visit but making waves, and her boss who knows her secrets and wants to protect her at all costs.

This is a brilliant series of books and I thoroughly enjoyed this latest installment. Gina is written in a sympathetic manner by Carla Kovach, and has a compelling backstory which keeps the tension at a high level while she and her team work to solve Holly's murder. The storyline has enough strands to keep the clues coming but not overload the plot with red herrings. I had no idea who the killer could be, not even an inkling, until it became more obvious towards the end, but even then there were a few more twists in the tail!

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for an unbiased review and would recommend it to anyone who has enjoyed the series so far or who likes good British crime fiction. There are a couple of spoilers but nothing to lessen the enjoyment of this first class read.

I love, love, love Carla Kovach's Detective Gina Harte series. This is book #6 in the series and they just keep getting better and better. DI Gina Harte is supposed to be spending the week with her daughter Hannah and her granddaughter, Gracie, but her ex-lover DCI Chris Briggs calls her in to work on a murder case where bridesmaid Holly Long is murdered at the wedding reception of golden couple Ed and Kerry Powell. The story is full of twists and turns and just when I thought I had it figured out, I was wrong. Author Kovach does an excellent job writing police procedural books. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this thrilling book in exchange for an honest review. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Really enjoyed this book. Have not read any books in he series so all the characters were new to me but I will now be going back to read some of the authors previous books featuring Gina Harte.
Great book, had thought I had guessed the murderer only to find I was totally wrong. Bridesmaids dying are not what you expect at all. Well worth reading and you know a couple of the characters will be featured in further books which I can't wait to read.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the chance to read this.

6th in the series, this is as tightly paced and as thrilling as the earlier books. This story is easily readable as a stand-alone.

Holly is a bridesmaid at her best friend’s wedding. When she is found dead by another bridesmaid It is soon discovered she was murdered. Holly was popular, well liked - who would have had a motive to kill her?

When a post-mortem reveals Holly was pregnant and another bridesmaid is murdered, the race is on to find the murderer and to stop the killer before he gets to the third bridesmaid.

On top of dealing with this murder case, Gina is having a hard time dealing with her daughter who is having issues with her marriage and trying to make sense of her friendship with her boss who knows a terrible secret about her.

This is another great read from Carla Kovach and I would recommend this to readers of crime fiction.

I would like to thank Bookouture and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this story in exchange for my review.

Another fantastic five star read featuring Detective Gina Hart. I have been with this lady from the beginning. A real crime thriller that really had me scratching my head. I really had to use my grey matter with this one and yes I got it wrong. A really clever plot and full of surprises and shocks. I devoured this book in one sitting, lots of misdirection. I just had to keep on reading I HAD TO KNOW THE TRUTH!!!!!. In my opinion this is her best in the series so far. A well deserved five stars and so Highly Recommended.
Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for the ARC.

Her Last Mistake is the 6th book in the Detective Gina Harte and it is coming one of my favourites.
Once again, Gina is trying to juggle her life between investigating the murder of Holly Long who was murdered dressed in a bridesmaid dress at her friend’s wedding. Stressing about her daughter Hannah involved with someone who is a suspect in the murder and basically doing the normal things in life just eating and sleeping and keeping herself healthy.
Holly Long who is popular and a lot of people in her town want to be like her was found strangled. Who would want to kill her? As Gina investigates, she founds at that Holly was pregnant. Was it the father that killed her? Also, several shady characters come out the woodwork during the investigation that does not show the life that Holly portrays.
This is another brilliant episode in this series which I loved. A bit darker than the others in the story, which draws you in from the first page. I like how the author gives us the personal life of Gina even though she has so much on her plate, with her determination she tries to keep everyone happy. But it doesn’t always end well. It makes the character and the story more believable in what challenges the police have today. There was a lot of twists and turns that keep you guessing throughout. And WOW I didn’t see the ending coming. Five stars from me.
