I had yet to read this author and I was thoroughly engaged in the writing style and premise behind the story. At times I felt the pacing could have been better, but overall I just kept guessing at what Janey’s big secret was and if it was worth keeping quiet about what happened with this other family.

Little Whispers was a favorite. I loved the well thought out characters. It takes place in a beautiful neighborhood. But are the people as nice and beautiful as they seem. Don’t get comfortable! People are not who they appear to be. A true psychological thriller

I am a big fan of this author and when K.L. Slater had a new book out I had to find some me time to sit and open my kindle and become apart of the story. Oh Boy her latest Little Whispers by K.L. Slater did not disappoint. It was a brilliant read. Kim's latest book is a great standalone book and I was hooked form the very first few pages and its full of great twists and turns throughout.

I can highly recommend this book and all of Kim's books and she has now become one of my favourite authors. Kim's books just get better and better......Looking forward till her next one....No pressure!!!

I've found it difficult to rate this book. I didn't think I liked it at first; it's written in the first-person present tense, which I really dislike. I also found I didn't really warm to Janey Markham and found her quite childish. But then I realised that the chapters flew by really quickly and I was very engaged in the story, eager to find out what happened in the end.

This wasn't fabulous. But it wasn't terrible, either. I felt the story was quite convoluted, there were too many coincidences, and Janey spent far to much of the story explaining things. I prefer stories where actions speak louder than words. If you need your main character to explain all the back story, then maybe the plot's too complicated or you need to find a better way to cover that aspect. But there was a good level of suspense, so it held my interest.

All in all it was a good story, let down by the writing style. 4 stars.

(Lots of mistakes in my copy, too. I hope they let a copy editor give it a good going over before the final version was published.)

This is the second time I've stumbled across a book from this author, and I can't believe I was duped into reading another. Literally the first 75% of this was painful, unrealistic, extraneous detail. Some things happened at that point, but it was way too little far too late.

Another suspenseful, thrilling read by the masterful story teller Ms. K.L. Slater.

This time it's all about "mommy time"... (Watch yourself girl, if you know what's good for you). We all know those ambitious, somewhat over-the-top (psycho) helicopter moms. The type of mom who would think nothing of attacking anyone or anything that disparages their precious child.

This story is explosive with twists and turns... it's a cautionary tale: be careful who you share your secrets with.

Unfortunately, I was slow in downloading this story and it was archived before I had the chance. I'm sure it is a wonderful read.

When she first moves to Buckingham Crescent Janey Markham feels a little out of her depth but she is soon taken under the wing of queen of the school gate mummies, Tanya. Suddenly Janey and her family are included in all the local events but some of their new friends aren't what they seem.
This is another fantastic story by this very clever author. Alongside the main plot the reader is given tantalising glimpses into the abduction and murder of several young women. Believe me when I say that you will be picking your jaw up off the floor when you discover the perpetatrator. I loved this book and have already recommended it to several friends.

Janey Markham is thrilled to be moving with her family to Buckingham Crescent, the smartest address in a desirable suburban town. Worried she’ll be excluded by the glossy local mothers, Janey is thrilled when she meets Tanya, the kind of woman she has always looked up to. Tanya takes Janey under her wing, and her teenage daughter Angel is amazing with Janey’s little boy. As Janey and Tanya grow closer, Janey feels she can finally leave her troubled past behind. In a weak moment over a bottle of wine, Janey finds herself telling Tanya her most shocking secret. Why wouldn’t she trust her new friend? The following day, Janey sees Angel, with a man old enough to be her father, pushing someone into a car. The next day a body is found and police appeal for witnesses – and share a picture of the same car.

I simply adored the atmosphere of this read. Immediately, I was hooked, wanting to know more about Janey and her secret, desperate to know about her family set up and eager to follow her as she meets new people in their new address. As the book progresses, the intrigue deepens and I was immersed in this swish but secretive lifestyle, wanting to learn about the secrets that lie beneath the surface.

Slater makes the reader wait for answers regarding Janey's secret, a tactic that usually irritates me and ensures the secret loses impact. However, I was delighted when I found the reveal shocking. I saw parts of it coming but the overall secret was a surprise.

If I am honest I preferred the suspicion around Janey's secret over the storyline with Tanya and Angel. Janey offers more emotion and is a likeable character whereas the others are not particularly likeable and I did not warm to them. This other, yet more central, plot thread was the most obvious of the two and therefore had the least impact for me.

'Little Whispers' is a close-knit, intoxicating read. I simply adored the atmosphere and the secrets that Slater slowly teases out.

Wow I loved this! Just finished it about 10 mins ago and I'm still tense from the roller-coaster of emotions I've been feeling. Brilliant ending, I got very involved and am in shock. Can't recommend this enough.

A brilliant story line, perfectly paced and believable characters... this book was brilliant. The way in which the author portrayed the characters was marvellous. A page turner from beginning to end.

Janey Markham, and her husband and son, move to a posh new house in an affluent suburban town. Janey isn't quite so sure that she fits in. They struggled financially and it seems overnight with a new job, and a bigger salary, that their lives have improved for the better. Janey soon meets one of her neighbors, Tanya, and they hit if off. Janey gets quite comfortable around Tanya, and soon reveals a huge secret. The very next day Janey sees Tanya's daughter with an older man and sees them pushing a man inside of a car. The very next day a body is found, and it appears to see the man Janey briefly saw.

Janey feels it is imperative to be responsible and to tell the police what she saw, despite the fact that her new friend's daughter might very well be involved in a murder. Tanya isn't having that. She plainly tells Janey that if she should tell the police anything, she will reveal Janey's secret. Meanwhile, something is going on with Janey's husband. Before they moved, he was working all of the time and family time spent together just didn't happen. He promised Janey when they moved that he would be around more. However, his actions prove otherwise, and it soon seems that he has something to hide as well.

Coincidentally, right AFTER I read this book, I read Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. Both books have some similar elements. This is because both books dealt with school moms, and those relationships were not always very nice. Janey continues to feel out of place, especially when she walks her son to school. That is pretty much where the similarities between the two books end (at least for me). What I found in this story by K.L. Slater is that envy, secrets and domestic drama all played a huge role.

Little Whispers is a terrific psychological thriller and it captured my attention from beginning to end, especially when considering the twists in the story. I have another of Slater's books in my immediate TBR so I look forward to that, and anything else she will be writing.

I really enjoyed this book and will give it a huge thumbs up. With a great story line and excellent main characters - I would highly recommend this book.

I had a really tough time getting into this book. The premise of the book sounded great, and I couldn't wait to request it. However, I found that I was almost waiting for the book to end. The characters were difficult to get into and did not seem well-developed.

Thank you Netgalley for the digital copy of this book, KL Slater is one of my favourite authors and the will always pick them up without knowing anything about them. This one did not disappoint! There is absolutely no way the ending could be guessed and you find that you are kept guessing until the very last moment. It’s a real page turner with short chapters which keeps you thinking. As with all of her others I would recommend this one!

This was a fun read. Well written. Held my interest. Just an enjoyable read overall.

I enjoyed this one, it was a really good read. There were interesting characters and lots of secrets, which be the end, proved for an interesting ending. Would recommend.

Took quite some to get into, i liked all the mommy drama, the secrets, the suspense and the lies. This is a light read but with a god twist to it. Overall, it was a good book
