This seemed like a really simplistic concept but was deliciously twisty. Janey moves with her husband and son to a new neighbourhood when her husband gets the dream job. Janey is thrilled to meet and become friends with Tanya who is part of the in crowd. After a few too many glasses Janey reveals her darkest secret to Tanya but surely she’ll keep it? When Janey sees Tanya’s daughter Angel in a compromising position her morals are called into question. Tanya will do anything to protect her daughter even if that means burning Janey.
This was a fantastic read and I loved all the characters. Each character made you question whose side they were on. I have read all of K.L. Slater’s previous novels and I can’t wait for the next one.

I always look forward to reading K L Slater’s books and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. Janey is still recovering from the death of her mother, from the secret that she revealed on her death bed and the box she gave to her with all the details in it. Janey and her husband Isaac have been struggling financially so when he comes home and tells her that he has got this dream job, they take this as an opportunity tom make a fresh start for them and their young son Rowan. They move into a fabulous house in a quiet, exclusive crescent and near to where Isaac will be working. The crescent has even larger houses and Janey soon becomes friendly with this clique of mums. Everything seems to be going well and she secures a teaching assistant post at Rowan’s school. But Janey soon realises that Isaac’s new job isn’t what she thought as, instead of all the free hours he said he would have to spend with her and Rowan with him working at home, soon starts leaving early in a morning and coming home late at night and seems tense and worried. Janey has made a good friend in Tanya and one day, after a few too many drinks, reveals her terrible secret to her. She later regretted telling her and just hopes that she won’t reveal it to anyone else. Janey sees Tanya’s teenage daughter in an altercation with an older man and when a body is found she has to inform the police so Tanya threatens to reveal the secret. This is when this dark and devious story grips you even more. The story is told by Janey, with some intriguing chapters from a young girl who has been kidnapped and kept in captivity. How can they be connected? This is a book full of secrets and lies with a totally unpredictable ending. One book not to be missed.

K. L. Slater is one of my auto-request/purchase authors. I don’t even have to read the blurbs, I just grab each of her books that I come across. Little Whispers is her latest title. Whilst not one of my favorites, it was still a good read.

This suburbian mystery centers around Janey, a new resident in an affluent neighborhood. As soon as Janey moved into the neighborhood, I knew something was bound to go wrong although I couldn’t guess exactly what. I was wary of the cliquey mom group that she joined and silently screamed at her not to trust them but of course, she didn’t listen to me.

The secrets held my attention from the first to the last page. I couldn’t guess what Janey was hiding from her past. Italicized chapters mixed in with the main story had me scratching my head. In the end, the revealed secrets didn’t really wow me and actually had me puzzled about why it was such a huge deal for the MC. Maybe it is just me though. I might have been expecting something more especially after the buildup thus the reason I was underwhelmed.

Would I recommend this one? Most definitely! I didn’t love it like I thought I would but I certainly liked it. I can’t wait to see what else the author comes up with.

She is quickly taken into the posh mothers' clique and even secures a job as a teaching assistant at her son's new school. Things finally seem to be working out for Janey. However, secrets are lurking behind the lovely facades on Buckingham Crescent and Janey runs the risk of losing all that she cares about. I really enjoy the build up of tension in the story, though found the conclusion a little rushed. Everything seemed to be revealed very quickly. Overall, an enjoyable, thrilling read.

In order to fit in with the so called cool moms Janey quickly does whatever she has to to become a bit more like them -/ I did not like that !!! She quickly becomes BFF’s with Tania and an afternoon of bubbly - turns into secrets being revealed!!!
Doesn’t take long for Janey to realize that the reason for their move ( husband’s work) may not be legit ! After a bit of digging she uncovers the truth !!
This is where I started to disconnect — I wanted more of the relationship between the wives and Janey’s transformation to be the plot - not the husband’s job !! It is a good read and I was really hooked from the start but I found the twist if you will - boring! That’s just me — she’s an amazing author and I will definitely read more from her but the ending for this one fell flat for me !

Janey is on the move. Used to living a strapped for cash life, her husband lands a lucrative job. This new found fortune means that moving to a bigger home is possible. How fortunate that a house on Buckingham Cresent should be available. Janeys life is changing for the better. She has a secret. she must not share it. The twists and turns were much meatier in this book. I love KL Slater books and have read most of them. I am pleased that the twists and turns are less predictable. Overall it is a great book. It was fun and dark and twisty. The characters were also fun and dark and twisty at times.
Well done KL Slater this is so much more believable as I can all relate to the school run mothers.

Little Whispers is a book that I had no clue whatsoever as to how this was going to pan out.
Janey Markham has just discovered a terrible secret her mother has been hiding from her all her life. Her mother told her in her last breaths and that there is a box that supports what she is saying. This secret is devastating and is something you don’t get to know about until the end of the book. On the brighter side her hubby has bagged himself a new job but it means moving areas and uprooting her eight year old son to a different school but it’s going to be worth it as the house is twice the size they are currently in.
Janey is an outcast at first after moving onto Buckingham Crescent as they are all designer clad mums but after a good deed she finds herself firmly in the centre which is a good thing as her husband is working long hours and she hardly sees him. Things start to turn sour when her husband tells her he doesn’t like her getting friendly with the neighbours and during an evening out she finds him very close to one of the women. Things go from bad to worse and the ending is not one I could have predicted.

Well what can I say a 24 hour read for me, dragged me in at the beginning and spat me out at the end totally spent, a twisty turny story, told well and wrapped up great, brilliant

have been reading a few mystery thrillers recently and I have to say that many of them left me disappointed - this one did not! I have to say that I really liked this book!

This is a lighter type of thrillers, but one that still manages to pull you in. To me, this book was very vivid. It reads like a good episode on a television show, and I could really imagine this being adapted to the screen someday.

One of the main disappointments I have with the book is that once you’ve read the blurb, you’ve basically read the book. I wish the blurb had left a bit more to the imagination - other than the big reveal at the end and a few plot twists, there wasn’t much surprise in it for me as the blurb just revealed everything. Thankfully, the book’s twists and turns kept everything interesting, and you just have to read more and more to finally find out what the narrator has been hiding all along.

This book has just freshly been released so it’s time for you to grab a copy! I’d like to thank Bookouture for the free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Unfortunately this book just didn't do it for me. If you read the reviews with Synopsis you can skip right to 60%. Nothing happens until that point. Then things start to happen but not until 80% do you start to know what is going on and get invested in this book. I don't know what it was but it just never worked for me and if it wasn't a netgalley book, I wouldn't have finished. It was not terrible just too slow and no real grab you moments in my opinion.

This book is described as unputdownable and I certainly found that to be the case as I raced through it in one sitting and at break neck speed.

It is a tense novel with lots of twists and turns that has you guessing all the way through to the end.

Recommended reading for domestic thriller readers.

Great story of events that flavor a persons life. Everyone has secrets and how they mold a persons life was interesting to follow.The story line was very engaging. Totally enjoyed this read!

This is the second book that felt a little familiar and missed a few marks for me. I needed more from the story line and the characters, which I just didn't get. I will probably continue to read Slater's work, but I won't be racing to it.

Janey’s mother passed away four months earlier. Just before she died, she told Janey a secret she’d been keeping for many years. She also gave Janey a box and told her that the contents would explain everything. So far, Janey hasn’t felt strong enough to open it.

Janey's eight-year-old son, Rowan is nervous about being the new kid at his new school. Janey is also worried that she won't fit in with the local mothers. Then Janey meets Tanya. Tanya really helps Janey settle in. Janey's husband, Isaac worked late almost every night at his previous job. He tells her this time their family will be his priority. Unfortunately, so far nothing has changed. Janey can tell something is bothering Isaac and he keeps warning her not to get to close to their new neighbors.

Janey and Tanya's friendship grows. Janey feels she can trust Tanya. But then one night after a few drinks, Janey shares something very personal. Immediately she regrets it, but Tanya promises she won’t say a word to anyone. But something happens that has Janey terrified her secret past is going to come out.

Janey will soon realize she’s not the only one keeping secrets. Around here, EVERYONE has a skeleton or two.

This was a fast-paced and easy read. There were some good twists and an intriguing story-line that held my interest from start to finish. Most of the novel is told from Janey’s perspective. We learn about Janey’s past and her life with her mother. I was curious about the big deathbed secret. I made plenty of guesses, but I wasn’t even close. I couldn’t wait to read how everything would come together in the end.

Another engrossing and entertaining read from K.L Slater!

Little Whispers is a real slow burner, building gradually to a thrilling ending. There are teasing clues which hint at the past and we also see an abduction but it is not clear until the end if this relates to the past or present. The tension definitely ramps ups in the second half as Janey's life begins to unravel and the psychological thriller element of the book comes into its own.
The character of Janey is a great one for eliciting sympathy and empathy from the reader. She is 'down to earth' is contrast to the status-seeking women she becomes friends with. Her insecurities about her body and her marriage felt very realistic, as well as her frequent unfavourable comparisons with her peers.
I also identified with her more personally, always feeling like an outsider and wanting approval from the popular crowd as a child, the social awkwardness on the school playground now as a parent. Plus her new job as a teaching assistant is one that I have done in the past.
The actual explanation at the end seemed a little far fetched to me but then I am not a criminal mastermind and technological genius! The epilogue brought a lump to my throat as Janey finally confronts her secret past...
Overall, Little Whispers was an enjoyable slow-burning family drama and psychological thriller.

This book was a fast reading and I couldn’t put it down. The characters are intriguing enough and all the lies and secrets surrounding them kept me hooked to know what was going to happen next. This was definitely an exciting and unpredictable domestic suspense and I’d recommend this book.

This is a great read. The author does a good job of planting the seeds of doubt in your mind as you read, you know something is very wrong.

The book follows Janey who fears her marriage is getting stale, her husband works too much and she craves more family time. So when her husband gets a promotion, with a house move she views it as a new start.

Their new house is miles away and their son has to start a new school, Janey knows nobody. Added to this her husband is still working long hours, nothing seems to have changed.

Initially she is shunned by the elite mums at the school gate but when she does one of them a favour she is taken into their world. Soon she is enjoying her social life, however she has a dark secret that she has been struggling with, surely her new friend can be trusted with it?

Janey soon realises she has made a big mistake, and her life will never be the same.
