A good story and well flushed out characters, but my feelings are much the same as the previous K L Slater book I read recently, and that's it took waaaayyyy to long to get to where it was going. Nothing really happens until 70% in, and I did find myself skimming to get to the point, there is an awful lot of waffling on. Saying that I did enjoy reading it and the ending. Thanks netgalley for sending me the ARC in exchange for my honest review

I received an ARC copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I really enjoyed this book until the last third of it and it just fell flat. I felt like this was what we were waiting to find out? Janet and her husband Isaac move into an upper class neighborhood with their son Rowan when Isaac gets a job that is just too good to be true. Janey becomes friends with all the people in the neighbourhood click and while drunk tells her horrible secret from her past to her friend Tanya who later uses it against her.

This is one of my most anticipated books of the year and I loved it. It was a great read that kept me on the edge of my seat and wanting to know more. I liked the storyline and K.L. Slater's writing style. It was well-paced and a great thriller. We follow Janey Markham and the secrets of her past. Go in blind for this one. This had some great twists that I did not see coming. I highly recommend this one!!
*Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an arc copy*

My third time reading one of KL Slater's books and such a great read filled with twists and hints bringing the reader to several different before an unexpected conclusion. I have several more books to read by this author and am so looking forward to reading them. I would like to thank the publishers and netgalley for letting me have the book to review and the opinions expressed are entirely my own views and are completely unbiased

Whilst I have always enjoyed KL Slater's previous novels that I have read, and to some extent I did enjoy this I just did not feel it was her strongest and found the ending a bit 'clunky' and a bit unrealistic. I am all for artistic licence but for me it just didn't work. However, I still look forward to reading her next one!

I have read all of K L Slater’s previous novels and have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. Her ability to tell a chilling tale is exceptional and ‘Little Whispers is no different.

The story is told mainly from Janey’s viewpoint as her husband gets a new, better paid job, they move house to somewhere lovely and Janey wants to be accepted by those who live in the same prestigious street. There is an underlying problem in that Janey remembers her mother always saying not to trust people and, from the beginning of the novel, we learn that her mother told Janey something awful before she died.

Her life seems to be changing and as she becomes close to the women from Buckingham Crescent, she lets her guard down and tells her deep secrets to one of the new friends.

The plot twists and turns throughout and there are times when I wondered what was coming next.

A brilliant read and highly recommended. Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and KL Slater for the ARC in return for my honest review.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this Arc.
I absolutely love all of KL Slater's books. But I'm afraid this one was just a little too slow for me! I felt it didn't really take off untill three quarters through.
I really enjoyed it when it did get going though.

I absolutely loved this book. There were so many twists and turns and I really didn't know where it was all going to end up. I don't think the book description does it justice as there was so much more to the story than that.

*Spoilers to follow*

The reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because there is quite a big plot hole, but I'm not sure if this is just because this is an advance copy and the mistakes will be ironed out before publication. The newspaper article at the end said that Aunt Pat was 20 when she died, but earlier in the book there are interactions between Pat and 14 year old Janey, so unless Pat gave birth aged six, there is no way she could be Janey's biological mother.

Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy of Little Whispers!

Let me start off this review by saying I love KL Slater and this is like the 5th or 6th book of hers that I’ve read. However, this one was not my favorite. Janey and her husband Isaac move to a new house in a posh, richy part of town. She meets Edie, Tanya and Ky and becomes a part of their clique. Janey starts to notice changes in her husband’s demeanor, acting rude to people, working more hours than before. Janey also has a big secret that she discloses to Tanya one drunken afternoon that is soon used against her. For me this book just took a little too long to really become interesting. I also think the description of the book is a little deceiving as the events described don’t even happen until about 60% in. I thought the reveal of Janey’s secret would be much more significant but it was told as if it was as ordinary as taking a shower. This just wasn’t one of my favorites!

I have to admit I haven't read many of K.L.Slaters books so wasn't really sure what to expect. Its a domestic thriller with a great storyline that keeps the reader engaged the whole way through. It just goes to show you can never really know or trust a person 100% even if they are your best friend. A great read and will definitely look to read more by this author.

This was a really great read , after not enjoying KL Slaters previous book I’m pleased to say that this is the KL Slater I know and love . Janey relocates with her husband Isaac and her son Rowan after Isaac gets a new job , after struggling financially for the last few years Janey feels their life is only going to get better with a lovely new house and school . She meets the other mothers in the close and makes some really good friends , something she hasn’t really done in the past .Of course if something’s or somebody seems too good to be true there is often a reason . With Isaac working increasingly long hours and becoming more and more distant , Janey starts to rely more and more on her new friends with unforeseen circumstances .
A brilliant , twisty read 5 stars

Little Whispers by K.L. Slater is a bit of a slow burn in comparison to the author's previous novels, but it delivers in spades by the end. This is another gripping read from an author who just does not disappoint.

Janey Markham arrives at Buckingham Crescent with her husband, Isaac, and son, Rowan, with an optimistic view that things are finally turning a corner. Isaac has secured a job which will allow the family to live in the toney new neighbourhood, and Janey will be able to indulge in a life that is not dictated by a lack of funds, allowing the Markhams to finally enjoy some of the finer things in life. But Janey has arrived at the new address carrying the burden of a terrible secret, one that could destroy everything if it is discovered within the insular fold of her posh new friends.

This is an engaging read that had me desperate to unravel the secrets and lies that permeate and inform the narrative. As per usual, Ms Slater holds the reader rapt with the promise of a reveal so explosive that you are completely under her masterful spell, and loving every minute of the journey.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

Before Janey's mum died, she unburdened herself of a terrible family secret, leaving Janey to carry it.
So when a few months later, Janey's husband gets a new job and their family move to a beautiful new house on Buckingham Crescent, she is excited for a fresh start.
Janey quickly befriends a few local mothers, even though these wealthy women are a few rungs further up the social ladder, and soon she finds herself sharing her secret with one of them without realising what a big mistake it was.

The story, told by Janey, is interspersed with a mysterious girl's account of her kidnapping and subsequent captivity.
This was one of those books that had me conflicted about the rating. It was a slow-burning story that kept my attention only with the promise of revealing the mysterious secret. However, about halfway through some more twists were thrown into the mix, and I was actually racing through the rest of the book to find out what would happen.
The ending was so twisty that I was left open-mouthed.
In conclusion, as the first half of the book deserved 3 stars while the second was worthy of 4 stars, I was hesitating about the rating.
Normally, for a book to get above 3 stars, it needs to have me on the edge of my seat right from the start, but I decided that in this case the revelations warranted the higher rating and I settled on 4 stars.
It was my second book by K.L Slater, and she is definitely an author I'm happy to reach for again.

Very good book and list proves the old saying be mindful who you share things with. You can not always trust your best friend

Janey Markham is thrilled to be moving with her family to Buckingham Crescent, the smartest address in a desirable suburban town.
Worried she’ll be excluded by the glossy local mothers, Janey is thrilled when she meets Tanya, the kind of woman she has always looked up to. Tanya takes Janey under her wing, and her teenage daughter Angel is amazing with Janey’s little boy. As Janey and Tanya grow closer, Janey feels she can finally leave her troubled past behind.

But then everything changes…

In a weak moment over a bottle of wine, Janey finds herself telling Tanya her most shocking secret. Why wouldn’t she trust her new friend?
The following day, Janey sees Angel, with a man old enough to be her father, pushing someone into a car. The next day a body is found and police appeal for witnesses – and share a picture of the same car…
When Janey tells Tanya she is going to the police, Tanya turns threatening. She’ll stop at nothing to defend Angel, even if her daughter is guilty. If Janey says anything, Tanya will make sure that her dark secret gets out.
Janey faces an impossible choice. Stay quiet about what she saw that terrible day. Or speak up, and destroy the family she has worked so hard to protect.

WOW! The synopsis does not give this book justice. It had me hooked for the beginning, I was suspicious of everyone in this book but had no idea it would end the way it did. I have read a few books by this author that I loved and was pleasantly surprised when this book exceeded my expectations!

When Janey's husband gets a new job and they are able to move to a nicer, bigger home on the beautiful Buckingham Crescent, she is delighted and hopes that this could be the start of a brighter future for them and their son. At first Janey doesn't know if she will fit in with the other local and very posh mothers, however she quickly strikes up a friendship with a small group of the most elite group of women in the area. Life is going well until, during a weak moment after drinking too much, Janey tells her new friend Tanya her deepest darkest secret. Then, when she sees Tanya's daughter Angel possibly being part of a crime, she knows she has to let the police know what she saw, but could this mean that her secret gets out...?

I'm a huge fan of K. L. Slater's books and this latest book did not disappoint. There is so much more to the story than I've written above but I don't want to spoil anything. The plot is fantastic with twists and turns, and I loved how it ended. The characters are well developed and interesting, and I couldn't stop reading the book to see what happened next. I can't recommend this book enough! Another brilliant thriller from K. L. Slater.

Thanks so much to the publisher, author and NetGalley for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest review.
