I am really glad I requested an ARC of this because my little girl turns 8 this year and it's perfect for her. She loves to sit on an evening and fill in a writing book she has which is similar to this (although nowhere near as good). So I thought an ARC copy was a good chance to check this out as a possible birthday present.
Well I can say for certain, I will be buying this for her birthday and think I'll be buying a copy for all of her friends too. What a great activity book and keepsake to mark her eighth year this will be.
It is filled with an array of activities, from baking ideas, to a geocaching log, from book review pages to fun family challenges. There's a '7 things I loved about being 7' page, and a '9 things I'd like to do before I'm 9' page. There's space to write about friendships, and school days and holidays and outdoor fun, and pages with tips on recycling and how to look after our planet.
It has so much in there - i was sold by page 42 and there are 120 pages! Plenty to keep you busy through the whole year. It has a really bright and simple design and the font is pleasing with lots of variety in how the pages can be engaged with (boxes to fill in, questions to answer, recipes to try, prompts to inspire, things to colour in, drawing pages, and also tips and information).
I highly recommend this 'Awesome' Activity book! I see the publisher also has it available for other ages and may have to have a browse.

This is such a great book. It gets kids in the habit of writing/drawing and really expressing themselves. 8 is such a brilliant age, where they are better at expressing themselves and really enjoy sharing their own story with you! They can use their imagination and their descriptive skills to either create something or tell some of their own story. It is a great way to practise so many skills, as well as get them to create a memory book, which both of you will love in the future.

A lovely book capturing what it's like to be an 8 year old in what has turned out to be rather a strange year!

Thank you for approving this book for my soon to be 8 year old son!

Full of lots of helpful and useful insights and ideas especially great use in the current world situation being in lockdown now it's hard to find great things to consume to time and keep 8 year olds busy

My awesome year being 8, was actually loved by my 10 year old daughter also.

This is a fun little book. It is full of great ideas which will keep children occupied for quite some time. The terminology is easy to follow and it’s very age appropriate. My son really enjoyed it and I know my colleagues will love using it with their classes too.
