This book surprised me, I was not expecting to like it this much. I did tho, I loved it in fact. Usually while reading about missed chances, with characters that cannot acknowledge their own worth and on top are very superstitious? That´s not really my cup of tea, it drives me crazy if its written wrong. However this was written so well, I´m still not over it. I adored the main characters and even though they had some negative flaws they worked through it in their own way. I cannot stress enough how much I enjoyed their character development.

I´m not really an anxious person and I don´t really get stressed, to an annoying degree, it was one of the first times someone wrote it in a relatable way.

This Time Next Year is obviously a love story however its not only romantic love, this is a book about friendship, family and most importantly loving yourself. As someone who loves herself to a scary, almost narcissistic degree, it was so amazing to read a little "throwback" to how I got here. Not to mention the fact that the B/C/D plots were equally interesting to read as the main plot if not more so.

It took me less than one day to read this book! I cannot recommend this one enough. Minnie and Quinn had my heart racing in a way that only Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy have before. From the first word you will be hooked into their stories and find their worlds intertwine but never quite meet, and its beautiful when it does.

This Time Next Year is for the readers who loved Me Before You but want a fresh story that delves into mental health and how perception impacts a person's judgement. The novel tells the story of Minnie, a baker and business owner, who runs into Quinn, a man who shares her birthday and was born just a few minutes before her at the same hospital, which allowed his family to claim a prize for being the first baby born in the 90s. The joke in Minnie's family is that all the bad stuff that happens to her is because she wasn't born a few minutes earlier. Once she meets Quinn, she can't stop running into him by accident and through her interactions with Quinn, Minnie experiences so much growth as a character. Unfortunately, this novel missed the mark for me a little bit because I struggled to relate to the main character as she blamed every setback she experienced on anything but herself throughout the first half of the novel. I also would have appreciated more character development on the main characters working with Minnie to better explain why Minnie loved them despite their eccentricities and draw the reader further into the novel's story.

I found this book to be a lovely, heartwarming tale of two lost souls - born within minutes of each other to completely different families. Some of the book was a bit cheesy but overall the characters were larger than life and told a lovely story.

Love the premise of this book! A cute, fun romance set in London that brings together themes of fate and missed connections, featuring a relationship that seems destined from the start…but then, as it always does, life gets in the way. The ending was full of feel goods, and I was so happy with how things concluded!

Super cute cover and the premise seemed interesting.

However, the story didn’t flow very well and it was difficult to keep the characters straight.

It took so long for any kind of love story to happen. Taking more than halfway through the book to have either character show an Inkling of interest in each other is far too long for a romance novel.

I had a really hard time with this book. There were times it would pick up for me, then it would fall right back down. The characters were really all jumbled up and I couldn’t keep track of any form of character development. I would think the author was going in one direction, then we would take a chart turn in a completely different direction I wasn't expecting and it would leave me in the dust struggling to catch up. I wanted to like these characters, but I had a hard time relating to them or finding any common ground. The third person point of view made this a bit dry. There would be times I had a hard time connecting with the characters on a personal level. I felt more like an outsider looking in than apart of the story

The story didn’t flow very well for me. I did find the time jump and alternative points of view very refreshing. That brought a lot of uniqueness to the story I wasn’t expecting, but it took so long for any kind of love story to happen. I didn’t like that it took more than ½ way through the book to have either character show an Inkling of interest in each other.

The journey getting to the end I felt was a mess too. I found myself getting irritated at the situations these characters were in. I also didn’t think that certain situations were portrayed properly. I wanted this book to be something it wasn’t and I kept reading hoping I would get there eventually.

I fell in love with all the characters, especially Minnie. I thought each of them had their own little quirks, but Minnie especially is who I felt closest too. She made me laugh, and she reminded me of myself in the way that she panics about everything. When even the slightest thing goes wrong, I can often find myself thinking that the whole world is against me, much like Minnie.
What I enjoyed most about This Time Next Year was that it isn’t just a love story. It explores other important topics such as controlling relationships, anxiety, environmental issues, and also soul-searching. However, this book is VERY cheesy in some parts, so if you love a good cheesy rom-com, this is the book for you!

This is a wonderful read. Imagine a favourite romcom film of the last twenty years in book form and you have this novel.. It tells the tale of Minnie, born on New Years Day 1990 and flits back and forth in time (a nod to Sliding Doors) and her chance meetings with her love twin, Quinn, born on the same day. I found it an easy read, that kept my interest and I could have curled up and read it in a day.
It’s a very satisfying novel and I didn’t want it to end. The author has created a great story, not run of the mill, but nevertheless romantic and endearing. I would highly recommend this for an enjoyable and life affirming pleasure. I let out a big satisfied sigh at the end, always a good sign.

I love this story of fate. I am a superstitious person and felt this story speak to my heart. It was touching and beautiful.

A fun romance with a host of charming and lovable characters. Minnie and Quinn come to life in this book and watching them grow and flourish along with their host of friends and family made this a truly enjoyable read!

I really, really, really, loved this book. I loved every single part of it. It had some small details that were subtle but really resonate me, like Bev and her activism.. I also really loved the complexity of every character. Each had a backstory which really showed how they had become themselves. I enjoyed how their backstories were connected, and how the narrator wasn't in first person. The backstories made this story even more special, knowing they had met each other before without even knowing it. This has some hard hitting topics in it, and it's definitely the heaviness I like my books. It had some aspects to it which were deep and many of us struggle with, making it relatable, but it also had some fairy tale aspects to it which made the story fun and entertaining.

This is a pretty good story. This is the story about Minnie and Quinn both of whose mother was in a competition to see who who have the first New Years baby and then how they meet later on New Years Eve..Will they end up together after meeting., will Minnie get her act together. You must read to see.

This is an honest review in exchange for an e-ARC from NetGalley.

Where do I start with this book? It gets better and better with each page, it left me feeling so content. The protagonists are so likeable, and I think it speaks to what a great love story they have when I can say that I would've been content even without the ending we got. Don't get me wrong, I love love and happy endings, but it made me so happy to read about 2 people in love who learn how to be content within themselves first, who work on themselves first and then choose love. Author, im endlessly grateful to you for writing such a story. More people need to read it ASAP because I need to gush and squeal ESPECIALLY ABOUT THAT EASTER EGG IN THE END. I KNEW IT. I KNEW IT.

I really loved this. I was desperate to know what happened between the two of them. The ending was a bit of a curve ball actually!
The only thing for me was the flipping between characters. I much preferred reading from her perspective rather than his and would skip ahead a little to get back to her.

What I liked about the Book —

Its ony favourite list now , so it will be kinda hard to jott down only SOME points! I can write a complete essay on why I love that book 😆. But here are a few reasons why… (Do I sound like 13reasons why?😂) —–

1. This is a book which you read and feel that the book has been written AFTER the MOVIE is released. Like really. Why? Because the author, Sophie Cousens, has so perfectly described each and every detail of each person’s life that you just can’t get that book down and it feels like you are watching a movie , having a peep into everyone’s life!

2. Did you like “DaVinci Code” By Dan Brown? You did? Then what are you waiting for?! Go and buy this book NOW! This book makes you travel back in time. Like, now you are in 2020….and then bbom! Welcome to 1993. Then again-2015. By this way, the author by this way has given a clear view of what the life if each character was and how they met.

3. The story has been described in such a way that you can’t out it down. I love the way the characters have been linked. You won’t even realise it’s just a story unless you complete it. It like, you are that invisible creature having a peep into everyone’s life!

But it was the opposite with this book. My mouth was hanging open all the time 😆😮
What I didn’t like about the book —

This will be hard….. I have brain-stormed about this for over an hour and I still don’t find anything that I didn’t lien about the book. Every page, every chapter, every character has some uniqueness which just binds you into the story!

Final Thoughts —

I personally LOVED the book! It’s really rare for a person like me who judges a book a thousand times before writing a review but I must admit that it’s just AWESOME! 🥳 You HAVE to read it man! I am eagerly waiting when it will release so I can buy it’s physical copy!

I can't even express how much I loved this book.

Quinn and Minnie are born on New Year’s Eve in the same hospital; one minute apart. Their similarities seem to end there for thirty years until they are in the same place at the same time again. On the surface, Quinn and Minnie are from different worlds but there is an undeniable connection between the two of them. Was this a chance meeting or is there more to their story?

From page one I knew I was going to love Minnie Cooper (yes - her name is Minnie Cooper) as we had a shared hatred of New Years Eve. I loved the style of writing, as I felt you could really get to know the characters. I felt as if Minnie was my friend by the end, and I also was a little bit in love with Quinn Hamilton ( I mean, if you don't also love the love interest whats even the point?!). In fact, I enjoyed all the characters included - nobody felt forced and there for the sake of it.

I enjoyed the time jumps, as it added depth to the characters and their backstory which made me feel even more invested in the "will they won't they" element of the book and gave me a wistful feeling as you saw how fate seemed to be willing them to find each other. I laughed out loud at Minnie and Quinn's easy banter, and cried and felt characters pain in other parts which is always a sign of a good book. It also gave me a good idea for a post break up revenge too!

I am a sucker for a romance novel anyway, and I definitely felt this was a similar vibe to some of my other favourite authors: Mhari McFarlane, Laura Jane Williams, Lindsey Kelk etc and would definitely be a book I would buy and recommend to anyone but particularly those who love a love story. Sophie is definitely an author I will be looking out for in future.

This novel was like the first taste of a hot sugary cup of tea after a long day; comforting and the minute you finish it you want another!

This was a cute story that progressed through two individual lives both in the past and present. The story had the feel of a typical rom-com, but with an unique plot that kept me wanting more! It was fun to see how each New Year’s tied into both of the main character’s story. Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC!
