i really enjoyed this mystery, i liked going on this journey to figure out who did it. I really enjoyed the Hollywood setting and would enjoy reading a second book in the series.

Deception: A Hollywood Mystery by Britt Lind was a good read. The main characters included Josh, a young man who drinks too much, and has a habit of trying to save those who he believes needs saving. There is only one word to describe Lila...bitch. And trust me, the author wrote the role so well, I can’t imagine one person rooting for her. Rosemarie a smart cop with a good heart. The secondary characters all worked in propelling the story forward.

The plot was a typical murder with lots of secrets behind the scenes. There was some quirkiness with a black panther named Noor, who could express his thoughts to the reader. I enjoyed how the author gave us Josh’s backstory and how she used Los Angeles as another character, ie; the story wouldn’t have worked as well set in any other town.

The book did start slow, but halfway through the author really hooked you. I would say my only complaint, other than the slow start, was the relationship between Josh and Rosemarie; it didn’t work for me. Over all, a good mystery.

Thank you to NetGalley and Britt Lind for the opportunity to read and review this ⭐️⭐️⭐️ book.

A murder mystery set in Hollywood with some fascinating characters (I liked Rosemaria Baker a local detective for one), plus Josh Sibley, a talented singer-song writer and Lila Levy, beautiful wife of successful movie director Stan Levy. There is a murder with undertones of drugs, Josh like a drink and animals plus various (brief) references to the movie industry.

This seems to be the plot and whilst there are a few twists, the ending could have been better. Perhaps I was wanting more of the Hollywood movie 'scene (good and bad)' with the author's knowledge?

Why oh why do we always have an abusive father in the backstory? Surely, there are normal parents in this world?

Thanks to Net Galley and BooksGoSocial for the chance to read and review.

Hollywood – the heart of the movie industry. Who hasn’t dreamed of making it in Tinseltown? Envied the movie stars and the glamour surrounding them. Behind the polished façade, however, is a world of struggling actresses, alcoholism, drug addiction and murder…

Josh Sibley, a talented singer-song writer with a dark past, lands a job teaching Lila Levy, beautiful wife of successful movie director Stan Levy, to sing for a role in a new movie. Josh quickly gets infatuated with the alluring Lila and tries to control his feelings. A murder occurs and Lila is a suspect.

Rosemaria Baker, Sergeant at the Beverly Hills Police Department, and her colleagues are assigned to the murder case. The investigation raises a lot of questions regarding Lila, and reveals a side of her which is dark, very dark…

Britt Lind brilliantly interweaves past and present in her new ingenious mystery novel. With a long career as an actress in movies and TV-series, she has a lot of behind-the-scenes experiences from the Hollywood movie industry. Experiences which she uses to weave a compelling plot of murder and mayhem among the Hollywood glitterati.

If you like well-written mystery novels and are curious to know what happens behind the polished façade of the Hollywood movie industry, this book is for you. I’m sure Britt Lind has plenty of real-life experiences to use in more mystery novels about Rosemaria Baker, the Beverly Hills Police Department and Josh Sibley. I can hardly wait for the next.
