Olive is an identical twin although they couldn't be more opposite. So when her sister Amy gets married Olive is given a flamboyant dress that Amy had won as a comper. Then it goes downhill when everyone gets food poisoning other than Olive and the best man of the wedding (Grooms brother) and they are offered to take the honeymoon. The only downside it was a competition win and the entry criteria is that it cannot be given away and the couple must be married.

The title was the thing that drew me into this book. Although I do think the cover is a bit dark and gloomy as opposed to being bright.

Ok book but very repetitive book throughout which makes it hard going.

Also extremely slow going even though events are very quick as an example the honeymoon is 7 days and they've gone from hating each other to falling in love in about 5 days.

The characters are OK but it is a shame that you don't get to know them more or have more interactions with others in the hotel, wedding or even nearly get caught. Instead the book is mainly Olive and Ethan thinking about why they hate each other but really love each other.

Sadly this book didn't do it for me although it had great potential and plot line is there.

It is common knowledge in Olive's family that she is has all the bad luck whereas her twin Amy has all the good. However both their luck changes on Amy's wedding day when disaster strikes and the bride is unable to make her honeymoon. Olive gets to go an all expenses paid trip to Maui but there is one catch she has to go with her sworn enemy, Ethan.

I am still packing in those summery reads before the end of August and when I asked for recommendations The Unhoneymooners came up time and time again. This is only the second of their books that I have read, the first one being In a Holidaze last December (can you tell I love a seasonal read) This year I have read a lot more romance than usual and one thing that I notice about Christina Lauren books is that the humour is quite dry and sarcastic compared to other romance authors I have read. Olive is the complete opposite of her lucky, bubbly sister and as such is used to people making snap judgements about her. Case in point is Ethan who Olive met years ago and never liked her so sharing a honeymoon suite in Maui is both of their ideas of hell. The story that ensues follows the usual enemies to lovers formula but it was the periphery of the potential romance that kept my interest. As lovely as Maui was to vicariously visit I was keen to get back home with the couple to find out more about Olive's new job and the aftermath of the wedding vomit fest! I enjoyed this book but there was not enough originality for me to love it.

My first book from the duo, but since then added 5 more books to my list!!

Absolutely adorable book, frenemies turn to lovers story but in the best way and beautiful scenery (hello, Hawaii!?) . Loved all the characters and misunderstandings / miscommunication and the banter between the main characters.

Read it!!!

Thank you NetGalley and Christina Lauren for my advanced copy!

Thank you to the publisher for my eARC copy of this book. Unfortunately I didn’t love this book and therefore didn’t finish, I just didn’t connect with this one. Not for me, sorry.

While it wasn't my favourite romance read of August, The Unhoneymooners still gets a solid 4 stars from me.

Oliver's identical twin sister and her new brother-in-law get food poisoning on the day of their wedding, allowing Olive to use their honeymoon as an escape from all the bad luck she's been having. The only catch is, she has to share it with a man she despises - the groom's best friend. In a plot reminiscent of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, the duo arrive in Hawaii and immediately bump into respective acquaintances, forcing them to pretend they are newly married.

Although this story sometimes felt a little too rom-com cliché, it is still an enjoyable, funny and very heartfelt tale. The chemistry and banter supporting an enemies-to-lover trope was entertaining and felt realistic, and the characters themselves were well-realised. If you are a fan of romantic comedies or the writing duo behind this novel, you might just love it.

Enemies to lovers is one of my favourite tropes but it's a delicate balancing act - you want to go feel the hate without anyone coming across as so unpleasant it can't be walked back later on. This one just didn't pull it off for me. I can see why it's been so popular but it just left me cold.

This is an enemy to lover’s trope, which will have you laughing throughout. When Olive and Ethan are thrown together to go on Olive’s identical twin sisters honeymoon that she won and was not transferable, due to all but them getting food poisoning at Ami’s wedding it was like a disaster waiting to happen, they hated each other. Spending 10 days of “wedded bliss” in the honeymoon suite, But they had to play newlyweds.
This is definitely a will they, won’t they get together book, when you think it is going to happen something will throw a spanner in the works.

I am not normally a fan of romances, there is not much guess work involved in them, However, with the humour and the fast pace of this I was totally engaged and found myself getting annoyed at Ethan for not believing Olive, after cheering them on for so long.

It’s first book by Christina Lauren I’ve read but if the others are as good as this I will be reading them all!

This was such a fun read!! Loved following the non-honeymooners honeymoon as they walk into disaster after disaster. The bathroom on the boat scene made me cringe laugh and the banter between the two main characters was brilliant. A really welcome fun and feisty read.

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

Olive is the accident prone twin. Ethan is the brother of the groom and they absolutely loathe each other. At the the wedding all the guests get food poisoning except olive because she has food allergies and has not eaten at the buffets. The all expense paid honeymoon has to be used as it is non refundable or transferable so they both go on the honeymoon together. Then all the fun begins in more ways than one.

Humour , hate to love stories and a bit of a twist thrown in for good measure. The interference from family is all there. Great beach read quick, quirky, can’t put down page turner even if some of the situations are far fetched. Really enjoyed it.

This was such a sweet, genuinely funny story! I was laughing out loud at Olive and Ethan's dialogue, yet it had the perfect balance of hilarity and emotional, heart-felt conversation to make it a memorable one for me! I mean, hate-to-love and fake dating all in one? This had to be a winner right from the get go.

This was my first book by Christina Lauren and I'm incredibly excited to read more from them in the future!

Massive thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the review copy!

Ok so as you know we are both massive fans of @christinalauren. I’ve read and reread the books in both their Beautiful and Wild Seasons series. When it comes to their standalone releases this is probably one of my favourites if not my favourite. I read it when it was first released and have recently listened to it on @audible to experience it again!

The story is all about Olive and Ethan. They find themselves going on the honeymoon that was supposed to be their sister and brother’s respectively. After the entire wedding is struck by food poisoning, with the exception of Olive and Ethan, Olive’s twin Amy insists that they go in her place.

To Hawaii. So of course why wouldn’t they go! Only Olive and Ethan do not get on, they rub each other up the wrong way, both of them on the defensive as soon as they are around each other.

I cannot stress how much I enjoy the writing of both of these authors. And I love that you wouldn’t know it was written by two people! The enemies to lovers trope is one of our favourites and this is definitely up there with the best. As well as impeccable writing there’s an interesting subplot involving Ethan’s brother that really rounds out the story - not just a holiday romance!

If you’ve not read anything by these two then what are you waiting for!

I received with thanks an ARC copy of The Unhoneymooners from Little Brown Book Group UK and Netgalley.

This is my review of Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren. This was published on 14th May 2020.
Okay, I have tried other Christina Lauren books and I was not overly impressed. But this book blew me away. I could not stop reading this book. This was everything I could want in a romance book. It had drama, steamy romance, enemies to lovers and laughter. This has made we want to pick up more books by the author duo in the future.

Would recommend if you love a Romance

This was such an enjoyable read! Despite it revolving an unbelievable premise, I really enjoyed each of the main characters and their dynamics, and found the conflicts between them to be believable. I think the book would have benefitted off more meaningful conversation between the main couple.

A nice easy read. A little bit predictable but still an enjoyable read. Would recommend this book to friends for a light read

5 OUT OF 5 STARS

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.

The 'honeymoon period' now got a whole new meaning.

For me, who doesn't really like romance books or cannot connect or believe in the love interests, I loved this!

I can't lie and say that some of the situations weren't a bit too ridiculous and convenient but with a connection like Olive and Ethan I'm glad it forced them together.

The pacing of their romance blossoming was perfect and felt so genuine.

I also have to give it to this author duo for not making everything perfect and making everything go as planned.

I'm obsessed with them as a couple and this book. Ethan can happily join the fictional crush list that is hard to get on as he is the second entry in over 5 years of me reading.

If it's not obvious yet I completely recommed this book!

I am a big fan of Christina Lauren's books and I love the enemies-to-lovers trope so I was excited to read this book. The premise of the story is a bit silly but I really enjoyed the characters as they uncovered their misunderstandings as they learned each others true characters.
Another fab romance from Christina Lauren!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a free e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Considering that this book was waaaaaay out of my usual comfort zone, I actually really enjoyed it!

When everyone, apart from the sister of the bridge and brother of the groom, gets severe food poisoning at the wedding, the two lucky ones get to go on the honeymoon. However, there a few catches. The honeymoon was won in a competition, so the two people will have to pretend to be married, and it just so happens that they hate each other!

Now, this didn't sound like my sort of thing, but I had seen how popular it had been across bookstagram, so I thought I should at least give it a shot. It turned out to be a super cute and funny read!
I do quite enjoy the enemies-to-lovers trope, which is probably why the story worked well for me. The romance dynamics ended up being quite believable and I liked the banter between the two. It was lovely to have a female character who worked in a STEM role - loved that representation!
As always with these sort of books, there were a few parts of the story that rely on misunderstandings. These are things that I generally get quite annoyed by as the majority of the time they are entirely avoidable! In this particular book, I thought the whole miscommunication to be a tad illogical, but it did rectify itself eventually.

Romance fans will love this book and it has encouraged me to explore the genre a little more.
A perfect summer read!!

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for sending me a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

TOTALLY WORTH THE HYPE!!

When everyone at Olive's sisters wedding comes down with food poisoning (apart from Olive who has a seafood allergy and the grooms brother Ethan who refuses to ear buffets) it falls to Olive to Ethan to go on the honeymoon as it's non refundable and Olive's sister can't bare losing out on it, one problem though Olive and Ethan HATE each other...this is going to be fun.

I loved this book! it's so much fun, I laughed out loud so many times and just totally fell in love with Olive, I enjoyed watching them trying to navigate the honeymoon while having a sizzling dislike for each other which slowly turns into passion. I was shipping these two so hard!! the banter between both of them was just perfect and had my sides splitting constantly. This was a perfect book for me, there was all sorts of emotions through this book and they all balanced out perfectly. Olive comes from a big family and I loved their dynamics and seeing their relationship and how much they all cared for each other.

I would really recommend this book to everyone.
