This was brilliant., It was great to be back in the world of Jack McEvoy. The Poet is one of my favourite books and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is the third book in the Jack McEvoy series from Michael Connelly, with the previous books being The Poet and The Scarecrow. Jack McEvoy is a hard bitten journalist, working for FairWarning, a small consumer rights magazine in Los Angeles.

He gets drawn into a story when the police come to question him following the death of a woman that he was briefly acquainted with. He is set on the track of a mysterious, sophisticated serial killer who is determined to cover his tracks and stay under the radar - at any cost. From there, the story accelerates through a rollercoaster of action, with some very relevant themes including the relatively new industry of DNA analysis and the far-reaching ramifications it can have.

I really enjoyed this story. Michael Connolly is always a safe bet for a fast-paced, interesting story and this is no different. I really enjoyed the story, I thought it had a lot of interesting themes and raised some important questions about surrendering your own genetic information and the unpredictable,far-reaching consequences it may have. I feel that this is very timely, in a world where it is becoming increasingly common for people to willingly send away their DNA in the hopes of tracing their family history, with no guarantees about what that information may be used for in the future.

A solid instalment in the Bosch universe - but about Jack McEvoy this time. It is his third book, I think, and it is about the murky world of DNA analytics and the very dodgey circle of people using it for not so moral means. There's a murderer using the technology to pick his victims and Jack's interest is piqued.

As I say, a solid book, written as well as any other Connelly novel. I've read pretty much all of them and this one is as expected.

Another amazing book by Michael Connelly - fast paced, addictive and keeps you guessing. I really do love Michael's books and have now read all apart from 1 or 2. I need more.

I was slightly confused when I started this - I had assumed that as it was part of the Harry Bosch 'universe' that Harry would be the main character.... however its actually journalist Jack McEvoy who was last featured in his own book years ago!

This was a really interesting and timely concept - genetics, murder and journalism combine to make a realy page turner.

I love Michael Connelly's books I am never disappointed, this one was no exception. All the elements, well-written, great plot fab characters. Recommended

Adore Michael Connelly and the Bosch universe. I have read all his books - Bosch, Mickey Haller and Jack McEvoy.

This is up to the usual standard and was a quick and satisfying read.

I enjoyed this right down to the last page.

The concept makes this stand out as it is so futuristic and quite terrifying.

The book hooks you right in and doesn’t disappoint.

I do enjoy Michael Connelly books. This is a new book about the partnership between journalist Jack McEvoy and Rachel Walling chasing a killer who, until now, has escaped detection.
This book changed pace from long explanations of DNA processing to fast paced action.
Although I mostly enjoyed the concept and storyline of the novel, I just could not like the main character. McEvoy's assertion that he has to publish and save lives is just so far fetched and arrogant, that I couldn't empathize with him.

Move over Bosch and Ballard, this is a brilliant book welcoming the return of Jack McEvoy and Rachel Walling in fast paced thriller after a serial killer (The Shrike) targeting unsuspecting women through their DNA.

Michael Connelly's writing is so good even with slightly difficult explanations about the science surrounding DNA.

Loved it!

Highly recommended.

I always look forward to the next Michael Connelly book but unfortunately, I found Fair Warning to be rather disappointing. For me,It was a book of two halves - the first part was exciting and really held my attention whereas the second half was overlong and seemed to drag on. I did not understand why we needed to have the whole story reiterated in the newspaper articles at the end.
I will continue to read Michael Connelly but can only give this 3 stars.

In any book by Michael Connelly the storyline always sounds as if it could be true, rather than a work of fiction. In Fair Warning by Michael Connelly, James McEvoy is the main character in the third book of this series. This time it is a complicated storyline about DNA and what unethical companies and their employees can use the results of DNA profiling for. Woman are being murdered and Jack and the other main reporter at Fair Warning investigate and uncover some serious crimes.

Fair Warning is the long overdue continuation of Michael Connelly's Jack McEvoy series after a gap of 11 years.
Now working for a consumer protection website McEvoy is questioned the murder of a woman he once spent a night with. Seemingly more interested in the story than the trouble he's in journalist Jack decides to investigate the case with the aid of ex-FBI agent,and ex-partner,Rachel Walling , who readers of previous McEvoy books will think should know by now to keep well away from him.
Seeing more to the case than the police appear to McEvoy discovers that the murder case he's become involved in appears to be part of a serial killer's spree and in usual style crashes through his investigation like the proverbial bull in a china shop.
The tale highlights a number of important current social issues, the worrying rise of the Incel groups, disaffected males who blame women for their lack of social skills, the potential perils of sending your DNA to companies to discover your ancestry and the way journalism has changed over the years.

This is a typical Michael Connelly book,the action never lets up,there are plenty of twists and turns and some interesting social comment thrown in for good measure.
Hopefully it won't be another 11 years before we catch up with McEvoy again, he's a deeply flawed character but an entertaining one.

Definitely one of his best books. Fascinating story, real people and, of course, some nasty ones too.

Jack McEvoy returns in Fair Warning which is the latest excellent book from Michael Connelly.

The book is very well written and kept this reader fully hooked from the first to the last page. All the main characters are well described and clearly identifiable

There are a number of twists and turns throughout the book which keep the underlying storyline moving along at a great pace

Overall an excellent read and definitely recommended

This book was a really good read. It had believable plots and actions and I'm so glad there was a great ending.
