This is a fascinating futuristic story about a female president who must contend with secessionist and cyberspace forces who threaten her administration. Journalist Chandler Scott is called upon for help and must go undercover to save the administration and the country. Not an easy task. Chandler must work through the dark side of the internet to find the one person who can help him, though that poses new questions. Just who can he trust, not to mention how does he go about making decisions to accomplish the mission.

This is part of a series of books, but it is not necessary to have read the others to understand and follow this one (though you might after reading this one!). The book provides a good look at what the US may well face sometime in the not too distant future, building upon the current situation and history. It is easy to see its plausibility. As I said, the book blends current history and state of the country with projections into the future, and can help the reader focus on what is going on while not losing sight of what is coming down the pike. I liked the way the book, its plot, the characters and the author provided a great way to view what is currently going on in the world along with what that might bring in the future, using those techniques and methods currently available or under advisement/development. Jordan Chandler is definitely a character to know, as knowing him will show one just what a solid professional and citizen is made of today and what that citizen and professional may face along the way to working a problem. As the book demonstrates, the author definitely understands and can apply the principles of finance, politics, and journalism. The book is well done and is definitely different from many of the suspense/thriller types out there—but a welcome difference. I think it is well worth a try, especially if the reader is a thoughtful, involved reader who enjoys using a myriad of these qualities and insights he/she has. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.

This novel is about politics and issues that could come up, might happen, and are not all that unbelievable in the future. Readers who enjoy futuristic stories, politics, and a bit of mystery will enjoy reading this story. The characters are believable; the events more so. That being said, this is not a genre I like reading. However, the author is gifted with words.
