I very much enjoyed this book. It has a good story and excellent main characters. I would definately recommend this book.

What a charming read! Delightful beach reading. I really enjoyed the slice of small-town life.

I couldn't get my head around this book sadly it just wasn't for me. The story didn't seem to hold my attention as i thought it would from the description. I just couldn't make out who was who. Such a shame as it read really exciting, which it wasn't.

The Trinket Wife by Brenda H Sedgwick

The book tells the story of Elizabeth and her family from the time she inherits a large piece of land from her father. Her husband and his twin brother build a development on it much to her disagreement but she had foolishly transferred the ownership of the land to her husband and he overruled her and developed it anyway.

I thought though well written it was a very laborious read and very repetitive in the storyline the best part of the book was the quarter of the story where more happened there than the rest.

The Trinket Wife by Brenda Sedgwick is about a middle-aged marriage and the complexities that wealth can bring to all relationships. I was drawn to the description of this book, and looked forward to the scenic imagery of the English countryside.

Immediately the reader will notice the tension between Liz, her husband, Des, and his twin brother, Richard. This book is suspenseful, and had a lot of drama. The storyline kept me wondering what was going to happen. Secretly, I was hoping Liz would tell off her husband and leave him. Their relationship was based on using the other person for their money/gifts. Overall, all the relationships in this book made me sad and disappointed.

In addition, the plot style and writing did not flow smoothly. I had trouble following along, and had to go back a few times to see if I was missing anything. I give it 3 stars for it’s intriguing nature, but the writing as a whole needed improvement.

Imagine you live a loving, stress-free life with your long-time spouse and you recently inherited a gorgeous, much valuable property from your parents? Whatever is yours is your husband's.. and his identical twin's too. Welcome to Elisabeth's world! She and Desmond have a son and a daughter who have recently left the nest, and Elisabeth is finding out that Des and his twin brother Richard are having serious plans to make tons of money off of her property. And all Des cares about is money and golf. Would you accept it?

This read was an interesting observation of types of relationships between family members (parents-children, spousal, in-laws, new member joining family,..) and closed ones. Elisabeth's reactions --or lack thereof-- was keeping me so frustrated throughout the book. She was ready to accept so/too much for the sake of her marriage. Des living in the shadow of Richard , even though Richard's life has not much to envy, How far women are ready to go in order to get what they want.

This story was nice, surprising at times, but a little too long in my opinion. The writing style was exhausting at times; short sentences, jerky thoughts, jumping from one scene to the next without changing paragraph. But a satisfying ending. If you enjoy stories in a romantic Southern Britain setting, or themes like real estate, interior decorating, marriage, relationships, loss and deceit, you will enjoy this one.

The Trinket Wife has a very intriguing and at times suspense like feel to the plotline. There was everything a good drama needs- mystery, suspense, love triangles, mid-life crisis men, cheating, emotional abuse, drunken parties and scandal.

My major issue definitely is the characters, their strength or lack thereof, their inability to evolve during the novel, the secrecy shrouding all of them to the point where I am not sure I even know or can relate to any of them,

This book was a lot longer than I originally anticipated and lead to me becoming almost a bit bored during the read. I kept waiting for the "aha" moment, the moment where is all makes sense and everything ties nicely together and I feel a sense of closure. Thw writing style was different and felt like points being made instead of a nice consistence story.

This was just not for me. The plot did not flow and I just could not get to grips with the storyline. It was written in a very disjointed form which just did not read well. I found the characters weak, especially the main ones, and difficult to keep track of who was who. I did not enjoy it sadly.

I liked the book - and also didn’t. The story was interesting enough for me to want to know the ending, but I found it hard that a woman with talent and wealth in her own right was quite so weak. I didn’t like the way no one actually said what they were thinking and skirted around subjects instead of getting them into the open. Most of all I disliked the writing style as it seemed to be almost note form of bullet points, rather as if the author had outlined the plot and then not bothered to fill in the detail. Odd.

It was a wildly entertaining read, and would definitely be a perfect fit for those hooked onto soap operas which practically burst at the seams with explosive secrets coming to light. A certain 'letter scene' is indicative of how nicely emotion and shock are played out. Unfortunately, I wasn't enamoured by the book in its entirety.

The Trinket Wife was a lot longer than I anticipated and hence, there were times- especially during the middle of the book where the plot was both, accelerating (so much was happening) and lagging at the same time. The numerous confrontations over the house and complicated relationships added a much needed push for the plot, but it wasn't enough to keep boredom from seeping in during the mid stretches. The writing could also at times jump from being extremely long-winded to choppy.

The book would mesh well with those looking for a weekend read with similarities to a roller-coaster ride equivalent of a dramatic family-drama. It just wasn't completely for me.

This reminds me of a Midsummer Murder was a good book but didnt keep me interested enough as I say it reminded me of the TV programme. A light hearted read

The characters and plot were very interesting. The book took me on a journey of self realization with Lizzy the s, But, the book was not as enjoyable as it might have been because the sentences were short and choppy, It lacked flow.
