what a fun ‘popcorn thriller’! i really enjoyed this one it was another pretty basic one but it was definitely a fun read that kept me interested!!

I was really surprised by this book! The story of three different women whose lives intersect in different ways, each lying to themselves, each other and their loved ones.


I found the ending very strange as I was expecting a "sad" ending, but it seemed like everyone had a happy ending! A nice refreshing change to the usual miserable books with unsatisfying endings.

I enjoyed this read but it took a bit to get into it and was a slow start for me. Once I got it in my head this isn’t primarily a thriller it was more enjoyable to get through. I did like it though and would give this authors books a go :)

Just finished this read by @stacywise_author It took me a while to get into the story, it goes between a few characters from the start. Although it took me time to get into, I was interested in seeing how the characters all tied in together! Not really a thriller as such, but it did keep me up turning pages to see what was going to happen next. Will be reading more of Stacy’s books!

This one was a DNF for me. I really felt like this was going to be a good thriller, but it read more of like a drama & I just couldn’t continue.

I found this to be an enjoyable read, keeping me on my toes throughout. The storyline was written well and flowed seamlessly. I look forward to reading more by this author!

This was an interesting read for me to categorize . I see it as between a women's contemporary fiction and a thriller. I would definitely suggest it to someone wanting to get their toes wet in the thriller genre though. I enjoy the storylines like this where the even happens at the beginning and then the book builds up to it. It is similar to big little lies which has done very well. The characters were all very flawed but I still found myself wanting them to do better especially Riki and was so distracted by all of the drama going on in their lives I had honestly kind of forgotten about the body! Overall I enjoyed it.

Sylvia Webb is a woman with a plan, she’s been conditioning herself, and her Mr. Right, into falling in love with each other. The only thing in their way is his needy ex-girlfriend. Riki McFarlan is an elementary school teacher, with a sweet boyfriend; however, she has feelings for her best friend's husband, who lives in the complex. Embry Taylor is a devoted young mother; her husband is an aspiring actor whose career isn’t taking off.



Lie, Lie Again is a well written domestic drama, full of lies, secrets, and revenge. I loved that all three women are so different, yet so similar with holding in their secrets at any means necessary. I stayed up all night reading this book, it was juicy, I needed to know how it would end. The story was entertaining, there was always something being thrown in the readers directions. I enjoyed the short chapters, and the multiple POVs between all three women, the writing style made it an easy read. I was hoping for more of a thriller however, this was more of a domestic drama.

This is a fun read to start the year off with! Between the friendships, the betrayals among them and the dead body there is a very captivating, sordid story!

Hand on heart, I honestly thought I was going to love this book. From the synopsis, I was under the impression this was more of a thriller, but it really isn't. Far from it in fact. It even lacked the mystery I was hoping for as well. It is a domestic feminist novel, which I'm all for giving a chance but it didn't help that I disliked near enough every female character portrayed. The main characters, all women, were extremely difficult to be interested in. Embry is probably the only one who didn't disappoint me, her secrets and lies seemed to be reasonable.

I think what really disappointed me the most was enduring the slow paced plot all the way through, really waiting for something climactic, for it to be just one big massive flop. I just expected something a lot more dramatic than what we were given at the end.

I'm happy with how Embry's and Riki's storylines were written off. Riki showed the most character development which I loved to see! Even though her weird crush irritated me a lot, I can see why it was incorporated in order to lead to her 'realisation' of what it was she wanted from a man. It's also a bonus to finally have a story where a man is faithful to his wife, and that Riki didn't attempt to stab her good friend in the back. I guess I have to admit that the last ten chapters or so did soften my opinion towards Riki eventually too.

Sylvia is a whole other monster. It is true that she provided most of the suspense and tension within the plot. But her personality and whatever obsession it is she has with stalking men, just doesn't sit well with me. I think I would've been fine with her character if it hadn't been for that very last chapter that confirmed she was a problem. Yes, lying cheating men are the worst but her actions are devastatingly hazardous. She was clearly just an extremely toxic person. The only time I actually felt bad for her was seeing that glimpse of human emotion when she was thinking of Nadine and reading her letter.

I can appreciate the ideas behind this book but it just didn't seem to come together the way I would've liked it too, there's parts that still don't make sense to me, what was the purpose in these certain things happening? It just ended up leaving me with more questions. I did however, enjoy the writing style by the author. The constant switching of character POV was exactly what I needed in order to stay interested, I also love chapters that aren't mega long. I loved reading about Embry and Brandon's relationship and seeing them interact, as well as with their kids. It was like a fresh of breath air seeing a happy marriage be challenged, yet still come out the other end unscathed and full of trust and positivity. That seemed important to me.

Author Stacy Wise says the inspiration for Lie, Lie Again was the duality of female friendships. "They can be amazingly supportive, but there can also be relationships that have a toxic edge to them. I wanted to explore why people do certain things and feel justified in doing them while others would be horrified by their actions." She aptly describes the book as "dramatic, fun, twisty, fast-paced, and emotional."

The story is related via an alternating third-person narrative from the point of view of Wise's three main characters. Sylvia knows betrayal all-too-well and it has left her bitter and bent on revenge. She is a fascinating character -- vengeful, cunning, and yet surprisingly sympathetic. When she realizes that she has been played in a most cruel manner and will have to navigate the consequences on her own, she engineers a campaign designed to secure retribution. She rationalizes her actions by telling herself that she is entitled to wreak havoc in his life because he "should've known that playing with someone's emotions like that was dangerous. But alas, it was a risk he'd chosen to take. He'd started this game, but she would finish it." Of Wise's three lead female characters, Sylvia is the most fully developed and complex. Wise gradually reveals the events in Sylvia's lives that have formed her character. "Revenge had always been a close friend, but now it had become her, encompassing her entire being, . . ." because she is determined that no one will ever break her again.

Embry came to southern California four years ago with her handsome, charming husband, Brandon, so he could pursue an acting career. She's sweet-natured, and struggling to be perfect and not complain as she supports his dream. She's somewhat naive but definitely not a fool, and her suspicions are aroused by Riki's behavior and her observations of the way Riki and Brandon interact. Still, she knows Brandon loves her and would never cheat on her with another woman . . . doesn't she? He spends a lot of time attending acting classes and works as a bartender when not auditioning for roles he has failed to land. She spends a great deal of time alone caring for their adorable three-year-old daughter, Kylie, and seven-month-old Carson. She just can't imagine how she will handle a development that will soon complicate their already tenuous lives.

Riki is a teacher and, in addition to being Embry and Brandon's neighbor, a good friend. She has been in relationships that did not work out, but has dared to trying dating again with Chris. And further complicates matters when a body is discovered at the bottom of the apartment building’s stairs, a victim of a broken stair step. But was it murder?

Lie, Lie Again is a fast-paced and engrossing tale that defies categorization in one specific genre. The tale is replete with domestic and relationship drama, but imbued with aspects of psychological thrillers, especially concerning Sylvia and her behavior. Wise deftly explores the women's complicated friendships, illustrating how different reality often is from the way others' lives appear to casual onlookers. While the lives of Sylvai, Embry, and Riki appear perfectly normal and even mundane, they are, in reality, fraught with conflict, tension, and, in Sylvia's case, an unquenchable thirst for vengeance.

Lie, Lie Again is deliciously entertaining with a surprising and satisfying conclusion. Throw this one in your beach bag . . . it's a perfect poolside read.

Well.. it was an entertaining read but I won't say this book is a thriller! It is an easy read, perfect for a quiet summer afternoon. Don't expect deep plots and intricate stories... it is like a short Mexican soap opera.

I really, really enjoyed this. I went into this book thinking that it was a thriller but I wouldn't class it as one. It is definitely more of a contemporary however I did still enjoy it. This book follows three women who all live in the same apartment complex. There lives are intertwined and as the book goes on we see the struggles and day to day life of Sylvia, Embry and Riki.

I think my favourite POV in this was definitely Riki. I loved being there as she worked through her feelings for Chris and Brandon and I also felt like she had the most character growth throughout the book. I also love how Wise wrote the characters so that as you were reading from the different POV's you still got to see what was happening with the other two. I loved Embry's honey pops and her kids are adorable! I also love how Sylvia doesn't take any crap from anyone.

I think I would have liked this more if it was a thriller however thats purely because of my reading tastes.

I enjoyed this book and found the characters to be interestingly written. The storyline was good however I found it difficult to get into and wanted it to be more fast paced.

This story starts with a body at the bottom of the stairs and continues on before this event has happened. It is a story about three women who I enjoyed getting to know and for all of whom I was rooting for by the end. This is definitely not a thriller but a good women’s drama with a little mystery mixed in. I enjoyed it a lot.

Sylvia, Riki and Embry all live at 1054 Mockingbird Lane, but that is where the similarities end. Sylvia, embittered by a betrayal, is seeking revenge on an ex, Embry struggles to be the perfect wife and mother as her husband pursues his Hollywood dreams, whilst Riki struggles to hide her crush on Embry’s husband. The three women’s personal dramas continue to grow until a body is found at the bottom of the apartment building’s staircase.

I was really excited to read this – I love a good female-led thriller and mystery and I was getting Big Little Lies vibes from this. I was intrigued by the three women from such different lives and seeing how their lives collided. However, this story really just fell absolutely flat for me. Riki and Embry felt completely beige to me, and didn’t do anything apart from ponder how sad their lives were. The only character with any backbone was Sylvia, and I couldn’t stand her – she took the angry warrior woman trope to the extreme and was nothing but bitter and cruel. I couldn’t get behind or enjoy the portrayal of her revenge rampage, which felt childish and stupid.

The pacing of this book was really slow, which was the main thing that made me put this down. The book starts with a body that has been found at 1054 Mockingbird Lane, and then goes back in time to show (I expect) how the body ends up there. Instead of the tension building, however, all we get is an insight into these women’s daily lives. I expect the author was trying to introduce tension through their everyday dramas, but they were boring and didn’t amp up the tension. I got two-thirds of the way through and the women were essentially in the same position they were in at the beginning. I expect people who have read this may tell me that it is all worth it for a surprise twist at the end, but a thriller should build up tension throughout the book and not just the final chapters.

This book was a struggle to get through, a struggle which I eventually gave up on. There was potential but in the end the characters and plot were too underdeveloped for me to enjoy the wait for the big reveal.

I absolutely loved this one. I fell in love with all the characters first few chapters. Kept me wanting me to read more and more.. I love how it had all three view of each woman in the book. I would says it was 9 out of 10.
