The apartment building at 1054 Mockingbird Lane is home to three very different women who are, nevertheless, friends of a sort. With their landlord owner recently dead, they are all a bit worried about the plans that her son has for the complex. Mix in some uncertainty and romantic problems in each of their lives, and soon the secrets and lies begin. Sylvia Webb, Riki McFarlan and Embry Taylor have plans to secure what every woman wants -- love and happiness. Each puts her goals into action and things are happening - until the body ends up at the bottom of the staircase that just might ruin it all. NO SPOILERS.

Domestic drama and contemporary women's lit that has similar elements to other stories you've read or that miniseries you binged. Hidden desires, revenge, frustration, and love affect each of the women but can they do what is necessary. Of the women, I did like the one who was actually the nastiest -- and she certainly had some clever moves so you can't help but cheer for her. I was struck by the notion of how ludicrous it was that there were so many young, single, attractive males out there around every corner. But, it's fiction. This provided a couple of hours of entertainment and most of it moved fast though some of it did drag as each of the women narrate their lives in alternating chapters.

I enjoyed this book! It kept me intrigued wondering who was going to be the victim, there were a few options. I do wish it had more of an ending it was kind of abrupt.

Inevitable is the word almost instantly connected to this story. The storylines are so familiar in the genre of women’s literature and are not saved from sameness with a brilliant twist in the tail. Three women, all with relationship issues of one kind or another but realistically all with perfectly nice lives all come out on top by the end of the tale.
This story failed to grab the imagination and draw the reader into such an extent that the real world faded away and nothing could draw the reader away from the book. Rather, it was a solid slog over the course of a couple of days to get this book read and, in the end, it left the reader with a scrunched up nose of disgust at the waste of a couple of days reading and an overwhelming feeling of discontentment. It was unsatisfactory. Boring even. And the so-called thriller/twist at the end was just so-so. It failed to make the reader clap her hands with excitement and joy at the unexpected turn of events to make the story worthy of the time invested in it.
Three women are connected by one thing in this story; they all live at the same housing complex. Apart from that, there is nothing to link the lives of these women together in any manner that would be believable. Each woman appears to have the life that another wants but finds no fulfilment in living the dream. From the outside each woman, in her own way, appears to have a perfect life. Predictably, scratch away at the surface and the cracks appear. Two storylines end happily ever after, and the third line, the supposed ‘twister’ in the tail ends up getting away with murder and moving on to her next victim. Ho-hum.
A boring start to the reading year.

*Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an early copy of this book for review, all opinions are my own*

This is not the kind of book I'm used to reading. The book tells the story of three women who are neighbors, at the beginning of the book we see that someone fell from the stairs of their apartment complex so the book throws us a few days before that event to make us understand what really happened.
This is not a totally intriguing story but you get so involved with the life story of these women and everything they are going through that you cannot stop reading because you need to know what will happen.
We have three very different women here with totally different lives and personalities and they are the ones who make this book so captivating, if you don't like the characters you probably won't like the story either because they are the ones who move the plot forward.
The author's writing is nothing special is very simple but nice and quick to read.
I loved the characters and loved getting involved in their lives which made the reading experience very enjoyable.
The ending I thought was a little too fast and some things happened so easily and certainly to give a happy ending that I thought it was a bit meh, but I didn't hate the ending because it did make sense with the characters.
I highly recommend the book if you like to read books with strong women, who know what they want and have a very interesting life to follow.

1054 Mockingbird Lane is an apartment building where a body has been discovered at the bottom of the staircase..⁣
Embry, Riki, and Sylvia are three women who live in this building and the story is told POV from them.. ⁣
𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐲~is married to Brandon and has two children, devoted to her family.. ⁣
𝐑𝐢𝐤𝐢~is a second grade teacher and has a secret crush on Brandon, yes her good friend Embry's husband.. ⁣
𝐒𝐲𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐚~dating the man of her dreams but he is not fully vested due to still dealing with his ex-girlfriend..she came across a bit selfish to me.. ⁣
Now even though the book starts off with finding this dead body, that is not what this book focuses around and I enjoyed that; the books is about these women and their lives, friendships, desires and secrets because each of these women have a lot going on.. ⁣
If you are looking for books to start your 2021 book year off with add this one to your #tbr.. ⁣
On a side note and totally dating myself here, but the address brought my brain right to 1313 Mockingbird Lane and the Munsters..⁣

I didn't enjoy this book at all. It felt like it took forever for anything exciting to happen, and the characters were horribly boring.

I was intruiged by this books premise! Ultimately though i do not believe the genre catagory is correct and i was left a bit bored. I wanted way more but the novel took a turn that i did not see coming and it did not work for me.

This one will remind you of a Desperate Housewives or Melrose Place! Three women all live in the same apartment complex and they have secrets. And of course, there is a body at the bottom of their staircase! This is definitely a dramatic story! You will follow in all the escapades of Riki, Embry and Sylvia! They are each complex in their own way and after their own happiness! Be sure to check this one out!

this book could not keep my interest. I was quite bored and I did not like it at all. I was not a fan. I did not like reading it

This book was a crazy ride! (In a good way!) The plot is built around three different narrators, but it wasn’t difficult to follow. I loved the way it started off with an unidentified body at the bottom of the stairs — that hook immediately drew me in and I found myself excited to figure out exactly what happened.

I have to rate this one at 3.5 stars because the synopsis felt misleading. I was anticipating more of a thriller — yes, there was a death, but this wasn’t one of those heart-pounding thrillers that makes you question every little moment within a story. Still a solid, albeit quick, read!

Thank you to the author, Stacy Wise, Lake Union Publishing, and NetGalley for providing an ARC for my honest review!

I really enjoyed this! I loved all the main characters and felt so invested throughout the entire book. Never a dull moment and flew through it towards the end.
This book was well-written and a page-turner

Thank you so much to NetGalley for sending me a copy for review purposes.

I liked this story, but I wouldn’t say that it was super thrilling. I predicted elements of the story and it didn’t leave me with any moments that were shocking.

It was an interesting tale.
3.5/5 ⭐️

This book is all about secrets and lies and women taking charge of their lives. Sylvia, Embry, and Rikki all live in the same apartment complex. Sylvia's boyfriend has been lying to her about being single so she plots her revenge on him. Embry is afraid to tell her starving actor husband that she is pregnant with their third child and is desperately seeking a way to improve their finances. Rikki is constantly butting heads with the parents on the board of the school where she teaches and nursing a secret crush on Embry's husband. This book is unpredictable. You never know where it's going to go. All the characters are likable, but while Embry and Rikki are both more unassuming and sweet and gradually begin to assert themselves more and take charge of their lives, Sylvia is a gutsy ballbuster who is not afraid to take charge from the get go. While it's probably not that uncommon to harbor a revenge fantasy every now and then, it's not likely that most people would actually take action to turn that fantasy into a reality or do so in the spectacular fashion of Sylvia. Accordingly, this story is a great one to read if you just suffered a bad breakup yourself because it's very cathartic. Although the ending to the story is mostly satisfactory, it does leave you wanting to know more about what happens to Sylvia next and if it all goes according to plan although somehow knowing her character you''ll just bet it will.

Lie, Lie Again is the perfect beach read. It is fun, quick, and filled with drama! It is also very forgettable, but it is an easy way to pass the time or get you out of a reading slump.

I personally loved the three main women. They all had their flaws, but it is what drives this story. Sylvia is a charming woman who can con her way out of anything. Riki is a private school teacher with a crush on her neighbor who is married to her close friend, Embry. Sweet Embry is just a young housewife doing her best. Maybe a bit of a pushover. She is the true innocent party, and her secret isn’t anything bad.

There is a dead body found in the beginning of the book and I suppose that kicks off the mystery and events leading up to it, but you honestly forget about it. Somehow that isn’t the most interesting part of this story? I got sucked into the suburban drama and realistic life problems. Once the death happened, it wasn’t a big moment. It didn’t affect many people. I am just mentioning this because I see this being advertised as a Mystery Thriller. There is nothing that thrilling and the mystery isn’t really there. So if you are hoping for some thrilling murder, this isn’t the book for you. It is much closer to chick-lit.

Hard for me to delve into this without further spoilers, so I will end it here. My final thoughts: Entertaining, but I do wish there was more diversity in this story. Overall, I rated this a solid 3/5.

Thank you Netgalley and Lake Union Publishing for the arc! This title was released January 1, 2021.

While I loved reading Lie, Lie Again, the writing is fantastic, I’m left feeling a bit eh. It’s possible this is my own doing as I went into this thinking it would fall somewhere in the mystery/thriller genre, but it did not. There were a few stagnant areas in the plot, and the wrap up was seamless with no twist. Overall the book was entertaining read.

This was a fun read. Yes, there is a dead body that the plot focuses around, but this isn't a thriller/mystery. It is just pure, enjoyable chick lit. It was a nice respite from the more intense books I have been reading.

This was an interesting story -about three women who live in the same apartment complex. They are a bit quirky - each choosing a different route in their life. One is married with kids, one is sophisticated and trying to land the perfect guy, and the last is a teacher for a private school and okay with her more quiet life. The whole book is each chapter taking a visit to each woman as they got through their highs and lows of their day and relationships and jobs.

There IS a mystery listed at the beginning, the very first chapter, but that storyline definitely felt like a 2nd thought and not the whole premise of the story. There is not a lot of tension or buildup or focus on the mystery (at least for me) and more the day to day routine of each woman's life. It was good but I didn't love it.
