Anybody else love a good slow-burn suspense? I personally prefer it over fast paced novels because I can take my time learning about each character and what drives them. @stacywise_author introduces us to these characters in such an in-depth way from each of their perspectives that i can’t help but hope to see them on the big screen 🎥 This was my first ready by Stacy and it won’t be my last! What about you - do you prefer a slow burn or a fast pace?! thank you @netgalley for this ARC! Make sure you grab this one when it comes out Nov 17! 🎉

📚 DESCRIPTION 📚
For three women with so much to hide, there's no such thing as a little white lie...
All three women who live at 1054 Mockingbird Lane have secrets...and with a body at the bottom of their apartment building's staircase, those secrets need to stay buried.
Sylvia Webb has a plan. And a potential Mr. Right. He's sweet, simple, and dependably clueless about what she's up to. The only thing unpredictable about him is his needy ex-girlfriend, who is this close to shattering Sylvia's dreams. But Sylvia's not going to let that happen.
Riki McFarlan has a good career and an amazing boyfriend who wants to settle down. If only she didn't have feelings for her neighbor--who happens to be her close friend's husband. With everything going so right, why is Riki flirting with something so wrong, so...dangerous?
Embry Taylor is as devoted to her children as she is to her husband, who's a bartender by night, an aspiring actor by day. She is his biggest fan. But with his career not taking off and tensions high, even sweet Embry has something she's desperate to keep hidden.
Lies, secrets, and revenge. For three neighbors with stakes so high, someone is headed for a downfall.

"Lie, Lie Again" starts off with a bang: a body found splayed facedown on the asphalt outside of the apartment complex on Mockingbird Lane. Three women are gathered nearby, looking at the scene, and the book is told from their alternating point-of-views. Sylvia, the woman who thinks she's finally found the one and upon learning he's deceived her, sets off to dark measures to obtain her revenge. There's sweet stay-at-home Embry, who has two young children and is married to Brandon, a bartender trying to make it as an actor and failing. Brandon plays double-duty and is the the object of his wife's affections AND their neighbor's, Riki. Riki is a 2nd grade teacher at a private school, where most of the parents make her life miserable. Each of the women have secrets they wouldn't want seeing the light of day. At the same time everything is happening, their apartment complex has suddenly come up for sale after the death of their landlord so we get to read another point-of-view from Jonathan, the dead landlord's son.

I'd originally picked this book up a few weeks ago and ended up putting it down, figuring I'd return to it later. I'm not sure why I finished this book on the second go-around. There's a slow burn book and then just slow, and unfortunately, this book is the latter. As many of you know, I'm not a fan of books marketed as thrillers and then it turns out they're not. That was the case here. I thought the writer did a good job of trying to tell the story but these women were unappealing and truthfully, annoying and sometimes committed implausible actions. Like, grow up. These women were not friends and their interactions felt forced.

Thank you NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for allowing me to access this early release. 3.5/5 stars. The story tells the intertwining lives of three different women who live in the same housing complex. When their landlord dies and her greedy son returns to sell the complex, these women band together to help prevent that from happening. One person winds up dead at the bottom of the stair case and the reader takes a long journey to discover who and how. I really enjoyed this read, it was light and each woman had a different struggle that any reader can connect with. This was a very enjoyable, light hearted read!

Slow, misleading, and a little ridiculous. I wasn’t a big fan of this book. Riki annoyed me for most of it, Sylvia seems like a sociopath, and Embry was a stereotype. The dialogue was odd. I finished, but I just couldn’t get into this one.

Lie, Lie Again follows three women who all live in an apartment complex called 1054 Mockingbird Lane. Each woman - Sylvia, Riki & Embry - all have issues & secrets that they would like to keep to themselves, and when the recently passed owners' son decides he wants to sell the building, the three ladies realise they need to work together to stop it.

This book throws you straight into the deep end with a 'partical reveal' in the first page. Then, the story flashes back and we start to learn about each woman.

Slyvia is a hotshot marketing guru who has managed to find herself a wonderful man that she is starting to plan the future with - unfortunately for her, he's not who he says he is.

Riki is a teacher at a private school, who is struggling to deal with the pushy parents, a boyfriend she's not sure she wants to be with, and a crush on her neighbours husband.

Embry is the wife of Brandon & mother to 2 little children. With Brandon being a struggling to get an acting job, Embry discovers she's pregnant with baby number 3 at the worst time.

I really liked this book, the chapters flown incredibly well & everything seemed to interlink quite smoothly. It was an 'easy read' and something I finished in a day, which is what I like about a book! The writing style is simple but effective, and you really got to know the 3 women. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it & would recommend to anyone!

I picked this book thinking it would be a fast paced, small town drama with just the right amount of humour. Honestly, it gave off a very Big Little Lies vibe.

Unfortunately, I had to DNF this one because it was too slow for me.

Intriguing story of three women living in the same apartment complex. These three women are all friends and all have their own secrets and lies they are living with. Complex story of friendship, betrayal, and making the best of the situation you are in. While some of the women have more serious problems than the others, they all have their own stories. Quick interesting story.

Lie, Lie Again is about three women who all live in a small apartment complex in LA. Embry is a mother of two with a husband trying to make it in the acting world. Rikki is a second grade teacher at a private school looking for someone to settle down with. Sylvia is in marketing and has met a man she has really grown to like. All of these women are keeping secrets that they don't want getting out.

The first half of Lie, Lie Again I wasn't feeling very much. I enjoyed reading about the characters and learning about them but felt that it went on for too long. The second half of the book really turned my mind around, I liked that all the story lines were nicely wrapped up and got the closure needed to end the book. Lie, Lie Again kind of reminded me of Big Little Lies with how the story builds up to something big at the end. While reading you get to hear all of the characters point of view on the things that are happening in their lives.

Thank you to Netgalley, Stacy Wise and Lake Union Publishing for this E-Arc in exchange for an honest review.

I love the character building in this novel. I was expecting more of a fast paced thriller, but was surprised when it was more of a slow burn. The twist wasn’t that surprising to me, but the story was engaging enough to keep me interested.

The premise of this novel is unique. 3 women find a body in their apartment while simultaneously engulfed in their own secrets. You’ll have to read it to believe it... trust me you’ll want to.

This was my first book by this author and I loved her writing style. The story focuses on three women, all who live in the same apartment complex. Rikki is a second grade teacher working at a private school where the parents rule the school. In addition she has a huge crush on her neighbor’s and friends husband. Embry has two small kids and has no clue how she’s going to balance raising two kids on her husbands earnings while he’s trying to make it in LA. And Sylvia thinks she has the perfect man until she learns he’s been lying to her. Her goal then is to get revenge.
This book gripped me from the beginning to the end and I highly recommend it.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this book.

This book really fell short for me. The description was misleading. The story begins with a body at the bottom of the stairs. Readers are then introduced to Riki, Embry, and Sylvia - three women connected by the complex they live in. The book follows them by switching between their narratives. Their stories were tied together well, however, so much of what I was reading felt like I was just following their day to day lives. The details did not really lead up to a "moment" that made the story for me. Many of the details that had taken up so much of the story were never followed up on. By the time I was 67% of the way through the book, I realized the body at the bottom of the stairs was still a long ways away. I almost put the book down several times, as it was not really keeping my interest or leaving me wanting to pick it back up. However, I decided to continue and I was not completely disappointed, as I felt like it picked up 75% of the way through. Embry and Ricki were likeable characters, however, Sylvia's storyline left me sick. She was just completely unstable. Maybe that was the point. I enjoyed the way the narrative switched between characters effortlessly. It really tied the characters' perspectives together nicely.

I absolutely loved this book. For me the book had a little bit of everything; mystery, suspense, detective work, romance, and friendship. Wise takes you on a slow building journey throughout LA with a struggling actor, a stay at home mom, a young teacher, a scorned marketing professional, and the one thing that connects them all, their apartment complex. I truly enjoyed learning each characters story while getting to know their personalities. As the novel came to a close, I grew to hate Sylvia and adore Embry and Brandon. For a while Riki was hit or miss for me but I was excited in the end about her potential next steps. Overall, Lie, Lie Again by Stacy Wise was a great, quick read, that I couldn’t put down until I was finished.

What a display of female characters! Wise masterfully unfolds this story, exposing a cunning woman amongst the cast of characters. While I don’t wish to know her, her devious ways are delightful! I also thoroughly enjoyed the Southern belle that reminded me so much of girls I knew in high school and college. A good read!

Wise has created a polarizing story. The story follows three women who all reside in a small apartment complex in California. Rikki, Embry, and Sylvia could not be more different--from each other that is. Different from Big Little Lies characters? Not as much. They felt all too familiar, as did the story. Instead of truly being it's own entity it felt like a poor imitation of Big Little Lies--down to a fall down the stirs during an argument. Sylvia has absolutely no redeeming features. 2/5 stars.

I was pleasantly surprised by this, it’s an entertaining read! The three women who live at 1054 Mockingbird Lane have secrets and with a body at the bottom of their apartment building’s staircase, those secrets need to stay buried. Riki, Sylvia, and Embry each very different from one another but like able & relatable. Which one has motive? Thanks to Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for an ebook ARC. This is my honest review.
