I received this arc in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley.

Somebody contact Lifetime and tell them to make this book into a movie, please! Three women, three narrations- one epic tale!

I am all down for a strong and powerful woman who knows what she wants and takes charge of her own destiny, but I certainly was not prepared for Sylvia Webb and her plotting and downright diabolical plans for finding her Mr. Right. Sylvia has an extremely clinical approach to finding a life partner with merit being based on their physical features, ability to father children and financial income rather than trivial matters such as those of the heart. Hugh, her latest victim, devastated her with his betrayal and rather than sweep it under the rug, she embodies the old phrase "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."

Mockingbird Lane seems to be the epicenter for drama as we meet Riki McFarlane who has a "do-gooder" persona but is harboring a dirty little secret, Forever in the shadow of her big sister who is thousands of miles away, Riki struggles with mounting pressures of work and a man whose face is replaced by another during intimate moments.

Embry Taylor and her hubby Brandon are the quintessential small-town couple (a talented good looking guy and beautiful girl) who move out to Hollywood to make it big. So far Brandon has only gotten some small roles and works as a waiter while Embry struggles with trying to be the perfect wife and mother. As Brandon feels pressure to catch his big break with mounting insecurities he will soon realize he isn't the only one with a secret to hide.

As Sylvia serves as the catalyst of this story, her actions create ripple effects for all the inhabitants of Mockingbird Lane. The book really brings to light the struggles faced by women who are never really happy with their lot in life. The honesty of their emotions was very raw: jealousy of beauty and age, insecurities at work, forbidden desire for your best friend's husband, childhood abandonment issues and how they potentially impact the adult psyche, desperation for love and more importantly the destructive power of a woman with revenge on her mind.

It was a good book. I was intrigued by the synopsis, but expected a little more. Partway through the book, I described to my friend as “I’ve never read a book where so little happened, but I’m completely absorbed.” The book follows 3 women who live in neighboring apartments and explores the secrets that they are trying to keep. This book could have easily been 5 stars with a better ending, but instead I was considering giving it 3. I thought about it though and the characters were so well done, and their backstories so fleshed out, that I was not bored during this book at all.

The blurb of the story intrigued me. Three women, living in the same apartment complex, with very different stories. Sylvia, a professional woman in her mid-thirties with a boyfriend that might just be the one. Embry, married with 2 children and another on the way, wife to a struggling actor. And Riki, teacher with a crush on her neighbours husband. Each one has a secret, but whose will cause the most destruction.

I was really looking forward to reading this. It had all the ingredients for a great thriller, but somehow it missed the bar. It didn’t help that I only really like one of the three main characters. It was an easy read, so easy that I finished it in 2 days, but I felt it was quite slow moving. A lot of focus was on building up the characters and their backstories, so much so I felt that the final twist wasn’t a surprise.

If you haven’t read a thriller before, or maybe just need a lighter one, give this a go.

Funny, twisted, and like watching your favourite guilty pleasure. I enjoyed Lie, Lie Again by Stacy Wise. It was an easy read and even though some things the characters did felt completely unrealistic, I found myself drawn to their antics. Some parts felt a bit drawn out, but overall I had fun reading this one.

I liked this book- it isn't really a psychological thriller, but there is some mystery involved, and I'd say it was more like domestic suspense. I didn't really feel like the synopsis accurately depicted what the book was really about. That being said, it was an interesting read that kept me engaged. It starts off with the body at the bottom of the stairs, but the rest of the book goes back a couple of weeks and leads back up to that. So the reader knows that someone died but does not know who it was until the end. The chapters alternate between Riki, Embry, and Sylvia, who all live in the apartment complex and are all at different stages of their lives and worrying about different things. They basically became friends because they were neighbors and not because they had a lot in common, but that seemed believable to me.

The character development was pretty good, though it did take some time to understand where each was coming from, though I never truly understood Sylvia. The story does start off a little slow but picks up quickly after the first quarter or so when you realize who everyone is and how it fits together. I found the end to be satisfying as well- while it didn't tie up loose ends neatly, it gave you enough to go on about what might happen next.

Overall, I'd recommend the book and would encourage those who didn't get into it immediately to continue reading. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

There’s a body at 1054 Mockingbird Lane and the three women who live there all know how it got there. Three women who have invested too much in the men in their lives and the men they want in their lives will be pushed into paying the ultimate price

This was a wonderful novel that I had a great time reading. The way the writer depicted the characters will strike a chord with many of the readers, and the story will draw everybody in. Highly recommend this novel.

Three women live in the same apartment complex, but with very different lives. Everyone has a secret, ranging from the benign to misguided. The characters are all well done, as you can definitely identify with one or more. One is wholly unlikeable, but she adds to the mix. The owner of the building has recently passed, and in the midst of their own secrets, they're facing whether their home will remain standing, or if the owner's son will sell. To top it all off, someone ends up at the bottom of the stairs. This was a quick, but really interesting book, and I highly recommend Lie, Lie Again. Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for this e-ARC of another winner. All opinions expressed are my own.

I really enjoyed this book. It seemed to pack a big punch in a short amount of time. The characters were well developed and the plot had a little of everything. Very enjoyable read

I have decided to not continue with Lie, Lie Again after reading around 50 pages because, sadly, I think this book just isn't for me. The writing is very good but the plot and characters are not to my tastes so I'm feeling bored, which is more down to me than the author.

I have given a 4 star rating based on the quality of the prose so far.

Thank you to the publisher for the eARC.

A bit slower paced than I was anticipating, based on the description. I was hoping for more action but it was drawn out. Sylvia's character had the most substance, where Embry was more of the typical mom character.

‘Lie, Lie Again’ was such a fantastic read! Set in an apartment complex, we follow Embry, Sylvia and Riki as they deal with their own secrets as well as uniting to stop the complex being sold. Despite their best efforts to keep their secrets hidden a body ends up at the bottom of the stairs...
This was not what I expected and I loved it! I thought this would be a fast paced thriller but it was a really slow paced, character focused narrative with enough mystery to keep you reading on. Of the three women, I enjoyed Sylvia’s story the most as it had the most twists and drama. I guessed who the body was, I think most people will, but I was surprised by how it came to be at the bottom of the stairs. The writing was very descriptive and really brought the story to life. Would definitely recommend if you enjoy a slower paced mystery that’s more literary fiction than thriller. Looking forward to reading some other novels by this author, one of my favourite reads so far this year.
