There is definitely something magical in the air with Kate and Clara's Curious Cornish Craft Shop. If you want something that is fun, whimsical and with a twist of magic then you need not look any further.

After reading this excellent book it is super hard to write this review. Mainly because there are so many elements that took me by surprise and made the book what it is. And I don't want to spoil those moments that make this book so enjoyable.

I know that Ali has written books set around St. Felix before. But if you are a newbie like me, don't let that put you off! as you can easily read this story without reading the previous. and it may even make you want to pick up the other books. Or is you're an oldie, enjoy catching up with some of your favourite characters. There is definitely something for everyone.

While we mainly focus on Kate, Jack and Julian in modern day St Felix. We also get glimpses of St. Felix in the late 1950's through the eyes of Clara, Arty and Maggie. And I loved finding out about their lives and what their stories signify. And I somehow felt like I knew St. Felix and could picture the pretty harbour and beach and the fisherman houses. There were times when I felt like I was standing there with the gang.

This will make you believe that anything is possible as Kate and Clara's Curious Cornish Craft Shop will sweep you of through the pages. This was a really enjoyable read and one that I actually cannot wait to dive back into as soon as possible!

This book was lovely, I particularly liked the relationships between Ben and Molly and how that evolved.

Kate and Jack both have histories and baggage and it was inevitable they were going to gravitate to each other. I lived the parallels between Clara and Artie too and the history of the town.

This is a lovely addition to the magical series of St Felix.

Kate owns a craft shop in a little seaside town called St Felix. She meets Jack, who is opening another art shop which she worries will be bad for her business.
They both get some things from a house clearance - for Kate an old sewing machine and for Jack an old easel. Some very odd things start to happen! Paintings appear on the easel and pictures appear beautifully sewn onto material. When they are put together they transport Kate and Jack back in time.
The book tells the story of Kate and Jack but also of another couple, another family from the past. As the couple get to know each other, they also get to know another story - a story they can put right.
This is a really good summer read, I recommend it to other readers who enjoy a work of fiction with a little magic thrown in!

Completely honesty upfront on this review, I love Ali McNamara, every book I’ve ever read has left me happier and in a better place, they are just wonderful, so I’m an addict to her books. I can happily say that this is no let down, I love the quirkiness to this story, the mystery how it brings Kate and Jack together. I thought that Ali treated Jack’s disability well and doesn’t treat him with kid gloves, it’s positive and uplifting and great to see more representation in books. A completely enchanting and heartwarming read, one you will fall in love with.

"Welcome to the gorgeous Cornish town of St Felix, where there's magic in the air...Things happen which can't always be explained"

It wouldn't be summer without an Ali McNamara book as far as I'm concerned. I have read one in each of the past five years and loved them all. It won't surprise you then to hear that I loved this one too! I was delighted to see that this book sees us returning to the Cornish town of St Felix, the setting for some of the author's previous novels.

Kate and her daughter moved to the little town of St Felix partly so Kate could put some distance between herself and a controlling ex, but also so she could fulfil her dream of running a craft shop. She has settled in well and enjoys being part of the community. When she discovers that there is a new art shop going to open nearby she worries that this will threaten her business. However, she and the new owner Jack soon become friends although not without some tension between them. When Jack acquires an easel from a house clearance and Kate an old Singer sewing machine, St Felix works its magic and some strange things begin to happen, revealing secrets from the past.

This was a such an enjoyable story to read. Although some of the mysterious things that happen are, let's be honest, unlikely, I would so love to think that they could happen. I liked that in this story we got a glimpse into the past too and the connections with previous residents, their stories echoed by those in the present day. The town of St Felix is such a great setting and you get a real sense of the strength of community in this harbour town. There is, as I would expect, a gorgeous romance or two at the heart of the story too. However, it's not always light reading with living with disabilities, and controlling relationships also explored.

I'm adding St Felix to my list of fictional places I'd love to visit. Not only does the little town sound gorgeous, there's always that hint of magic in the air. Kate and Clara's Curious Cornish Craft Shop is an enchanting, heart warming and 100% feel good story. Give this a try and see if you fall under the spell of Ali McNamara'e writing too!

I loved this "magical" and quirky story. So trying to not spoil it for the reader, Kate runs a craft and art shop in a little Cornish village and finds out someone else is about to set up an art shop almost on her doorstep. Not happy with this, Kate storms to the other shop and this is where we meet Jack, the new shop owner. You really need to read this book for yourself to see how their first meeting pans out. Fabulously written, interesting characters, and I loved how Jack's 'situation' (no spoilers) was written about with such reality and positivity. I heartily recommend this book as one to read.

I would like to thank Little Brown Book Group UK and NetGalley for an early copy for me to read and review.
Ali McNamara is one of my all time favourite authors. I love the magical elements to her stories that anything is possible. I adore the cover designs for her books, the colours and landscapes are always so pretty.
In Kate and Clara's Curious Cornish Craft Shop we follow Kate who owns a craft shop in St Felix, this is her dream. Kate finds herself involved in a mystery where embroidery images and paintings tell a love story that happened years ago. This mystery brings Kate together with Jack and the two of them must try and solve this magical mystery together.
I love St Felix. Ali has written two other stories set there before, both as perfect as this story. I adore this little harbour town in Cornwall and could picture it in my minds eye as I read, I could see Kate walking about from shop to shop. I loved Sebastian who works in Kate's shop, and the way he winds Kate up and wanting his days off on the beach, which must be so tempting when you work by the seaside.
As the mystery unfolds I really enjoyed Kate and Jack's story unfolding and getting to know them. The way they developed throughout the story and grew was lovely to read and I was so happy with the ending.
A beautifully written story that completely captured my heart.

A simply amazing story. I was so enthralled by the whole plot within the story, I couldn’t wait, just like Kate and Jack for the next piece of the puzzle. I throughly enjoyed the slowly unraveling of the mystery and the developing relationship between Kate and Jack.

It was such an amazing feel good read I didn’t want it to end. When the first unexplained ‘oddity’ happened I thought that it wouldn’t be for me and that it would ruin the story as it would be far too far fetched but I was so wrong, it not only added to the story but made me enjoy it more. I can’t wait to search out more stories about the character of St Felix.

This is the third of Ali's books set in the wonderful seaside town of St. Felix, Cornwall. It was lovely to re-visit this magical place and I really enjoyed meeting the new characters as well as hearing little snippets about some of the characters I met in previous books. This story introduces Kate the owner of the local craft shop and Jack who owns the nearby art shop. When the two of them acquire an old sewing machine and an easel from a house clearance, Kate and Jack are brought together in a way they could never have imagined. As with all of Ali's books there is a delightful element of magic and mystery that makes her books different to so many others out there. I also enjoyed the flashbacks to the 1950's where we are shown the lives of Clara who used to own the shop that is now Kates and her daughter Maggie and the artist 'Arty' and dear old Freddie How the two timelines come together is a fascinating part of the story as Kate and Jack delve deeper in an attempt to put right past wrongs. I was totally enthralled by this lovely story from the first to the last pages and can't wait to read more of Ali McNamara's books. For complete escapism and a sprinkling of magic there is no other author quite like her. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a pre release cop of this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Lovely, cosy read. Great to be back in magical St Felix exploring the secrets of the past and present. The development of the relationship between Jack and Kate is fractious which is the point but sometimes feels quite fractured from the overall story. However that is the tiniest of tiny gripes because I thoroughly enjoyed reading this.

Thank you Netgalley

I loved this book, it was just magical. Ali McNamara is one of those authors who writes in such a way that I feel immediately at home. Consequently, I’ve been a fan for a good few years now. This is the latest book in the St Felix series, and it’s just as brilliant (if not more so) as the rest.

I thought the idea of the mysterious paintings and embroideries was beautiful, and I loved the way that it brought Kate and Jack together. The complex emotions of being disabled were well portrayed, though of course everyone has a different experience. I loved so many of the characters, Jack, Kate, Ben and Molly especially, but the secondary characters were also well realised.

The friendly atmosphere of St Felix, both in the present day, and the 1950s, came across well. I hope there will be further books set here in the future.

I’d recommend this book to anyone who loves a romance with a touch of magic. It’s a perfect place to escape to for a few hours.

I was given a free copy of this book, my opinions are my own.

Thanks to Net Gallery for an ARC of this book.

The market feels very saturated with 'The XXX on the XXX' clicklit books over the last few years, and this is the third of Ali McNamara's books I have read but the first set in St Felix.

What an interesting (if slightly unbelievable) concept! It was a light and easy read, one which definitely makes you want to visit (or move!) to Cornwall!

All the 'J' men were interesting characters- there was good character development of the men Jack and Julian. I really enjoyed getting to know them!

I would've liked to have known more about Clara, Arty and Maggie, although their story ended nicely and well wrapped up!

I loved the dynamics between Kate and the others in the shop, there was a bit of everything and everyone.

A thoroughly enjoyable read :)

I love reading about the town of St Felix, there's always a magical element to the stories. In this case we get glimpses of the past that help the Kate and Jack rectify some past wrongdoings. A really warmly written love story with some great characters and a beautiful setting.

Another great book from Ali McNamara. Great to be back in St Felix for another story.

When Jack moves to the small village of St Felix to open an art shop he meets Kate who owns the local craft shop. Jack receives an easel and Kate receives a sewing machine from a local house clearance and strange things start to happen.

Another amazing book by Ali McNamara. This author never disappoints! Loved the way the story told the life’s of different characters in what I describe as a mystical, magical way. It reminds me of another of Ali’s books with a typewriter. The wonders of St Felix keeps you wanting to know more. Highly recommended! Can’t wait for the next trip to St Felix.

If I’m honest this book didn’t do me. I found the main character really dull and struggled to find her interesting enough to carry on with the book.

Single mum Kate runs the little craft shop in the harbour town of St Felix, Cornwall. She had always dreamed of owning her own shop and after a horrible time in her past, she decided to up sticks and move and found her little gem.

She is unhappy when she hears that a new shop is about to open that will sell some items that she does. Newcomer disabled army vet Jack, has bought himself a shop to sell art equipment and can’t understand what Kate’s problem is as she only sells low-end art products where his will be high-end.

The pair are united in a mystery brought on by old craft equipment from a house clearance which seems to have a life of their own.

I always look forward to reading Ali McNamara’s books as you know there is going to be something mystical hiding within the pages of an amazing story and Kate and Clara’s Curious Cornish Craft Shop didn’t disappoint. In fact, I was so happy to see the mysterious goings-on start early in the book.

The writing is superb and the plot cleverly put together. The characters, Kate and Jack are both feisty and have plenty of attitudes. Both have pasts they would rather forget and futures they would like to enjoy. They really worked well together.

Once I began the book I didn’t want to stop, so much so that I read it in just two sittings. It is so beautiful, magical, and is set in a glorious harbour town that you can perfectly visualise as well as wish you were there. I also love that we get to go back in time to the 1950s St Felix and hear about Clara’s life with her sick daughter.

I now can’t wait for Ali McNamara’s next book. This one, for me, felt like her best work yet.
