Thank you, Netgalley and the author/publisher, for the opportunity to read and review an advanced reader's copy of this book. This in no way affects my review, all opinions are my own.^

Soooo, my goal for 2022 is to read the entire Bible and not just read it but also understand what I'm reading. I was born in East Germany before the Wall came down in 1989. Christians were targets for the Communist party at the time. My parents wanted me and my sister to be safe, so I wasn't raised Christian. This means I had nobody to turn to when I had questions about spiritual topics (or I didn't know who to turn to). With that being said, I'm glad I have found a series that will be immensely helpful in my quiet time with the Lord. I love reading different commentaries but this one has been the easiest for me to work with and the most helpful. It answered so many questions. I love all the quotes not only from that book of the Bible but references to other books of the Bible and other books/movies/authors such as C. S. Lewis. The writing is easy to understand and with lots of explanations with plenty of evidence why the author thinks his arguments are accurate. I also love that the author included so many helpful footnotes and many of the original Hebrew words and their meaning. Fantastic book!!! Now off to study Genesis with Straight to the Heart of Genesis.

I have found this commentary very helpful and learned things that I didn't know by simply reading the book of Job at first glance. The writer has done his research about the time and culture. His Eloquence runs through the whole book and his anecdotes make it more interesting and relevant.
I would recommend this book to be translated into Spanish. I believe that other readers will find this commentary helpful while studying Job.

I like this paragraph. “The book of job is honest. Some of the things that we are about to hear job and his friends say about God are meant to make our toes curl. Therefore God is inviting you to be real with him about your questions as you read, so that he can give you real answers.”

A nice devotional based on the book of Job. I found several discrepancies that disappointed me. I received an arc from the publisher and Netgalley. This is my unbiased review review.

After the title description of title was interesting, would be discounted and in disagreement with the author claiming Job was perfect. Job was blameless not perfect. Jesus was the only one perfect. Because of this, I didn't finish title.

Wanted to like this more. It was not an easy book to read. So much information.

Thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free,it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.
