My rating: 5 stars!!!! I have to sheepishly admit, I am not used to British slang, so I had to Google some words for translation! That being said, I have been following Ms Marsons since her first book, Silent Scream. Her writing is an addiction that I ... just .... do ... not .... want ... to ... give ....up on ... yet! I have come to a conclusion, in my vast reading experience, that I tend to drop authors, because as their novels progress, you see a pattern in their writing ...you can almost anticipate the next action ...shoot, some authors repeat same sentences over and over! They get stale - predictable! Well, I got into my first Angela Marsons novel and immediately loved her story line, her style of writing! Then the second novel ...and wait, didn't I just love that one too!! Around the 7-8th book I was beginning to think her story plots were becoming a bit predictable, but she blew that whole theory out of the water with one killer book that jump started the series to a whole new level for me! As for Killing Minds, bravo ...well done! I will be on pins and needles waiting for the next one to come out!!! As much as this book can be a stand alone .....I do highly recommend that you start at the beginning with Silent Scream because this author does like to weave some its and bits from past novels into her books

DI Kim Stone series is one of my favorites! Killing Mind is another solid read and did not disappoint. The story is extremely well written, with full of surprises and heartbreak. I highly recommend this whole series. These books work as standalone but do yourself a favor and start from the beginning because they're all fantastic reads.

Killing Mind by Angela Marsons has DI Kim Stone called to the home of Samantha Brown. By all appearances, it looks like the woman took her own life. Kim and her trusty sidekick Bryant visit Myles and Kate Brown to notify them of their daughter’s death. Something feels off to Kim and she rushes back to the crime scene for a second look. Kim is now positive that Samantha was murdered, but she needs to prove it to her boss in order to begin an investigation. Kim and her team are called out when a dead man is pulled from a lake. The man did not drown, his throat was cut just like Samantha’s. They soon find a connection between the two victims and it leads the team down a sinister path. Killing Mind is the 12th A DI Kim Stone Crime Thriller. I do recommend reading the series in order. Each book builds upon the previous one in this engaging series. I thought Killing Mind was well-written and the story moved along at a fast pace. I like the diverse cast of characters that continue to develop. Penn is fast becoming a member of the team. They still miss Dawson, but, while Penn cannot replace him, he shows what he can add to the group. Kim and her team are a hardworking bunch. Bryant is a little distracted because a rapist and killer is up for parole. This case is what led Bryant to working in CID. One of the man’s victim’s is still alive and fearful that the man will come after again. The father of another victim has never been able to recover. Kim and the rest of the team busy with the two murders. The case leads them to Unity Farm which turns out to be a cult led by a manipulative leader. The author certainly did her research for this book. We see how easily it is to fall under the spell of a persuasive man. I thought it was fascinating and frightening. I enjoyed following the mystery to see if I had accurately identified the killer. Killing Mind is a compelling story full that will have you riveted until the very end.

The 12th instalment in the Kim Stone series and still they keep getting g better . From page one it’s just good to be back . Totally love this series and Angela Marsons writing skills .. can’t wait for number thirteen ❤️

This was a great book. I have read others in this series but not all of them and not in the right order, but that did not take away from the story, or the character development. This one starts with Kim and her team turning up at a scene that seems like a suicide of a 21 year old girl, but Kim can';t shake the feeling that they missed something, and does her own research into it. She ultimately determines that this was not a suicide after all, which leads her to another murder case and a tie in to a place called Unity Farm.

The story focuses on what turns out to be a cult situation with Unity Farm- this is a topic I didn't know much about previously, and found really intriguing. Marsons does a great job showing the reader the data through those investigating it, as well as what it feels like to actually be there, through Tiff's infiltration.

There is a side story about Bryant's involvement in a murderer up for parole- he made a promise years ago to follow this case through and ensure that the perpetrator never saw the light of day. There is a lot of excitement with this p[otline as well, despite it being only a small part of the overall story.

All in all, this book was well done and reminded me how much I have enjoyed the other Kim Stone books. I'd recommend it to those who like police procedurals and mysteries, even if you didn't think you would be interested in reading about cults!

I must admit, this series for me is highly addictive, I have followed DI Kim Stone from the very beginning and now hard to believe we’re on to Book No. 12!

Kim attends at the apartment of a young woman to determine/agree as the coroner has that it was an apparent suicide. Although Kim comes to the same conclusion, something just isn’t sitting right with her… and so it begins…. Kim is launched into the world of cults, with a place called Unity Farm always seeming to be at the centre of Kim’s investigations, it seems the vulnerable people in society are being preyed on and somehow convinced to give their all to this place including all their monetary funds/assets. Kim sends Tiffany aka Tink in undercover but has she done the right thing?

As and aside, Bryant is dealing with his own demons when an old case of his comes to the forefront again when a nasty piece of work is up for parole having murdered/raped a 15 year old girl years previous, having vowed to help her father keep him in prison insofar as he can…. This is a tough one for Bryant.

Another fantastic instalment to the series which never fails to hit the mark, I love how the team work together and the personalities that go with it, absolutely without a shadow of a doubt, one of my favourite detective series, how Angela Marsons keeps finding these fresh new ideas to put yet another winner together is beyond me.

Number 12 in this series and it just gets better.
Could be read as a stand alone because the plot is tight and the characters are described carefully and so are believable in any context

What happens when vulnerable people are exploited. This is a story of powerful people and the effect that they can have one others.
Kim sends a young PC into investigate a cult, she is not quite as strong as at first seemed.
We are thrown into a situation that is thrilling but never ridiculous.

Hard to believe that this is book 12 in the series and what a cracker this book is. Every time I hear Angela Marsons has a new DI Kim Stone book coming out I don’t even need to read the blurb to know it’s a must read for me. Well I can honestly say this series just keeps getting better and better. Kim and her team are back in the thick of the action again. I just love the rapport the whole team has and how they all work together. This book had me on the edge of my seat as I read it and there were plenty of twists and turns. Just brilliant. Well deserved 5 ⭐️ read for me.

This was an utterly fascinating new book in the always wonderful Detective Kim Stone series.

It is abundantly clear to me that either the author has first hand experience of life in a cult, or more likely has done a significant amount of research into them, as the level of detail is truly impressive.

This felt like far more than a thriller, more like a human interest book, showing just how vulnerable people can be manipulated. It was really interesting to learn about Unity Farm and what happens there.

Especially from the point of view of an undercover officer and how her mindset seems to be affected in a very short amount of time, and limited contact with the farm.

Yet I still wasn't sure who the actual murderer was, and I was once again very impressed with just how tight Kim Stone's team is, how they share the work load, all have wonderful hunches to follow.

And the other case touched on that Bryant is involved with, is one that will linger with him forever.

I was completely and utterly hooked on this story and read it in two sittings over the course of a day, ignoring all real life things going on, while I had to see what would be uncovered next.

It is scary that places like Unity Farm must exist in real life, and I feel this book really does raise awareness of a situation that many would never dream of, and that can only be a good thing.

Marsons is truly talented. How on earth are we on the 13th book in the series (counting First Blood) and the books are STILL so strong? I have never read a series for this long and been this invested in the main characters still. Marsons also does the perfect job of reminding you of previous happenings without re-telling the story which is also a skill not all authors who write series have. Not only will I continue to read any further Kim Stone books but I truly look forward to them!

Another must read from Angela Marsons. I’ve been an avid fan and read everything book so far and immensely enjoyed every one. This book is no exception. All the usual characters that we have come to know and love are back and the story once again keeps the reader turning the pages at a matter of knots. Highly recommended.

I was lucky enough to get a preview of book 12 on netgalley and this series is still going as strong as ever 🥳 I can honestly say I’ve loved all of the books in this series! I don’t seem to have left a review since book 9 for some reason but I think I just read them so quickly that I get caught up. As ever such an enjoyable, fast paced read. This book takes us to the disturbing and dark world of cults and it makes for pretty scary reading when you get an insight into this world. I love Kim and her team and I think the fact that I read this book in 2 days (my days off work but still toddler attached) says it all! If you haven’t read this series and you love a good crime series this ones for you!

Killing Mind is Angela Marson’s twelfth Kim Stone novel and it is another fabulous read. Stone and Bryant attend a scene which both the detectives and the pathologist agree is a suicide. However there is something niggling at DI Stone and she’s really not sure that this obvious suicide is that simple. With her usual tenacity and with the help of her team, Stone pieces together that Samantha Brown had help slitting her own throat. In quick succession another body is found having been murdered in exactly the same way. Despite losing their daughter, Samantha’s parents are unwilling to share all they know but drip feed the team little pieces of information. With just the name of the commune that Samantha had stayed at, Unity Farm, the team realise they will not get anywhere without an undercover officer joining the commune. Tiffany Moore is a police officer who looked much younger than her years and agrees to go under cover, with just her wits and her mobile phone to keep her safe. Meanwhile the team try and uncover exactly what happened to Samantha and why her parents’ won’t tell them all they know.
This five star read has you gripped from the opening page and is yet another wonderful window into the life of Kim Stone.

When Kim Stone sees the body of Samantha Brown on her bed with her throat cut everything seems to point at suicide. However something niggles at her, making her suspect this was murder. When the body of a young man is found with his throat cut there seems to be link. Samantha Brown's parents seem to be somewhat evasive. Further investigation leads the team into the dark world of cults & mind control. As always the plot is well crafted keeping the reader guessing.

I have loved the Kim Stone books from the very beginning, not just for Kim, who is a fascinating character, but for the rest of the rest of the team. By now they all seem like old friends & I can't wait to meet them again. This series is getting better & better. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

This is the 12th installment of this series and author Angela Marsons has yet again provided her readers with an enthralling and original story line. This book can be read as a stand alone but I have loved reading the series from the beginning and getting to know the characters.

I love the author's style of writing which easily flows, this book will keep you gripped from beginning to end. It's another excellent plot and my thanks to the author Angela Marsons for a super read. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

In this 12th book in the Detective Kim Stone series we find Kim, Bryant and the team looking into the death of young woman. Originally thought to be suicide, now accepted to be murder.
Enquiries reveal her parents had had her forcibly removed from a group living out at Unity Farm.
As the investigation progresses, the body count rises along with the realisation that what they are dealing with is a cult.
On the surface it`s a retreat, a place where everyone is one big happy family, yoga, head massages,meditation, reiki are indeed on offer.
However what at first may appear innocuous is gradually revealed to indeed be a sinister and dangerous place where the vulnerable and struggling are being manipulated.
Getting the proof is not quite as easy.
Kim makes the decision to send in a young officer, Tiff, with no formal undercover training, a big risk!
Will it pay off? Will Tiff get the evidence and come back in one piece?
As usual a tightly plotted tale, where as the story unfolds the tension mounts.
An absolutely cracking read and I for one can`t wait for the next Detective Kim Stone book.
Such an easy 5* from me.

Killing Mind by Angela Marsons
This is book 12 of the Kim Stone series, I've read the first book in the series so far although I've bought many more of them. This book reads perfectly well as a stand alone.
I really enjoyed this book, there are a lot of characters to try and remember as the book goes on but not so many that its hard to follow.
I love Kim Stone, I really need to go back now and read the rest of the books to get to know her better. I enjoyed the storyline and felt the book was well researched. I love police procedural books and think Angela Marsons is up there with the best authors in the genre, and fast becoming a favourite of mine.

Another absolutely riveting installment from my absolute favourite series of all time, you would think that by book twelve it may have gone a bit stale but nope this one is just as brilliant as the rest! As usual jam packed full of mystery intrigue and murder that had me on the edge of my seat. Absolutely brilliant!

Killing Mind is my first Angela Marsons book, and it's a fabulous police procedural set in England! I will be reading the other books in the series.

Detective Inspector Kim Stone and her team of police officers investigate a suicide that doesn't sit well with DI Stone. She investigates further to open a murder case. Soon the body count mounts up. The points of view also encompass Bryant, Stacey and Tiffany.

In addition, there is Bryant's case of 25 years back that consumes him, as the rapist/ murderer is being released 15 years early.

The author has examined the psychology of cults in a novel and fascinating way. She has interestingly juxtaposed the release from a cult with a prisoner coming out of prison.

There is constant page-turning action, suspense and new reveals. The short chapters keep the interest high. The POVs changes at just the right time, so the reader can follow a thread to a set point before the next part of the story picks up.

This is very much a gritty crime story, the repeated descriptions of the rape and mutilation a bit too much and therefore gratuitous in my opinion. That's my only gripe with Killing Mind. I suspect that the author prefers the gritty crime genre, so I'll have to get used to it if I'm to read the rest of her series.

This is so excellently plotted, I'm in awe of Angela Marsons. The 2 sets of crimes and several plot points are all resolved perfectly. There is heart and compassion for the victims and the police. DI Stone shows remarkable leadership, while maintaining her professional distance. We learn the back stories 9f the police officers as well as a number of other protagonists, but not at the expense of forward momentum. The balance between the officers' working and personal lives is well told.

Kane and Brittany are nuanced characters. I really enjoyed how Kane's role evolved. No spoilers.
