this was a really good horror novel, it had what I was looking for in this type of book and I really liked that this series started out so strong. I look forward to more in the series.

I enjoyed the story, It was a fun clean read. I feel that the main antagonists (there’s more than one) where unfairly portraied as two dimensional characters. The main protagonists, on the other hand, had chemistry between them, something I guess is no easy feat. The story itself was entertaining, fast paced and, as mentioned earlier, fun. I was hoping for a couple of scares here and there, couldn’t find any. Still I will keep on following further installment of the saga.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sawyer Shepard is on a gap year and looking to explore the world thanks to the inheritance left from his parents unfortunate death. He finds himself in Sage City, Colorado with the expectation of grabbing a bite and taking in the local view points but is met with a snowstorm that traps him in town. Sawyer has a run in with some of the locals and the billionaire investors in town but a more ancient enemy awaits. Will Sawyer along with the residents find the will and way to defeat a growing menace and possibly save the world?

There were some things I really liked about this book, and a few that left me unimpressed. The charaters are great and have a wonderful chemistry throughout the novel, except when it comes to those dealing with the big bad. Sawyer was so well written and his role in the story was beautifully laid out, even his great revelations throughout the story However I wish there was more about the big bad other than it's existence. A character is even propositioned by the beast and that story line fell very flat for me. Perhaps the author is saving more insight into these characters and their choices for later books, I'm just not sure if I'll be around to learn it.

Overall though, this was a good quick read that is appropriate for all ages. Nothing super graphic or inappropriate, as far as age range I would say 12 and up. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a light read to try to get over a book hangover. It's the type of story you can follow without giving yourself over to it completely, the perfect story to move on from a dramatic climax of a series.
