A fun little book which is part-philosophy, part-self-help, part love letter. Although tongue in cheek, James King is clearly a huge Keanu Reeves fan. He is the epitomy of a chilled out dude with boundless wisdom and a simple approach to life that we can all learn from.

A really fun, quick read. Lots of interesting details that as a big fan of Keanu were a pleasure to read. Loved the little illustrations as well. The perfect gift for a Keanu fan!

A wonderful, engaging and philosophical view into the life and legacy Keanu Reeves has created.

Everyone should be a little more Keanu

We would all benefit from being more like Keanu!
This is a fun read, a basic self-help book that references Keanu and the roles he has played in his films, to show how we should all be more Keanu to have a better life. It is fun with the films and quotes it mentions, and makes me want to go back and re-watch some of the older Keanu films!
This is a book you shouldn't take too seriously and if you are a Keanu fan, it is an enjoyable read.
It is not a book that I would pick up again, but it was enjoyable for what it was and brought back memories of watching some of the films mentioned.

I really enjoyed this guide to living a more excellent life. It's funny and unputdownable. But it is not all light hearted and doesn't shy away from the traumas that Keanu has endured, including the loss of his wife and baby, but shows how tragedy has built his character and personality. If you don't have a crush on Keanu at the beginning ( which I didn't ), you will by the end.( which I do).

Written with great admiration and respect for its subject, this short book aims to teach important lessons in being a healthy and well-rounded human through the life and filmography of Keanu Reeves. It's not deep enough to qualify as a useful self-help book, nor is it insightful or in-depth enough to give you a better understanding of the man. I'd imagine that it's intended not to be taken too seriously, though it lacks the humour to really justify this.

This is a fun self-help book which you can read in an hour. Under the chapters Keanu the Guru, Gentleman, Fighter, Friend, Rockstar, Comedian, Lover and Pioneer, you’ll read about various topics. While you’ll admire ‘The One’, you’ll also find helpful little tricks for a more meaningful life. Let us all #bemorekeanu, enjoy little things and live life to the fullest. Loved it a lot!

“Whether it’s through surfing or suffering, philosophy or a phone box, Keanu’s always learning something. Plus, in turn, teaching us things too.”

A lot of heart has been put into this book as well as some extensive knowledge of Keanu Reeves’s life and career. The author, James King, is a film critic, he knows his Keanu stuff and he knows how to make use of it. The resulting product is this ‘excellent!’ tribute to a happy living based on Keanu’s life.

It’s funny, somewhat satirical, and wholehearted. We’ve all heard of The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. Behold Keanu’s Secret, the mini-guide on how to improve various aspects of your life, be it by the example of Keanu, the guru, or Keanu, the gentleman, or Keanu, the lover. There are many more sides to Keanu, waiting to be discovered. To paraphrase Laurence Fishburne’s Morpheus, no one can be told what #bemorekeanu means. You’ll have to see it for yourself. So which pill will you choose, red or blue?

Not a memoir nor a biography per se, this pocket philosophy cum self-help book is centered around the wonderful human being and presence that is Keanu Reeves. That alone made it a winner in my books. While I may be totally biased as far as he was concerned, I’m sure many will agree that Keanu is a true gem.

'I don't want to be part of a world where kindness is a weakness.'

Just about everyone loves Keanu Reeves right now, but that hasn't always been the case. I've been an avid fan for almost three decades who saw great subtlety in his many roles despite how critics and even general viewers pan him for being wooden. His life story was tragic but yet Keanu maintains an almost zen-like persona that radiates kindness, humility and even wisdom. And this book talks about Keanu both as himself and the characters that he has portrayed throughout his career. The most mentioned ones were those he was most well-known for, i.e. Ted Logan from Bill & Ted, Johnny Utah from Point Break, and of course, Neo and John Wick. I trust that I don't even have to mention the names of those movies.

'Even in the face of tragedy, a stellar person can thrive. No matter what's going on in your life, you can overcome it! Life is worth living.'

If you love Keanu, check out this book. If you want to gain a grounded philosophy and be more contented in life, check out this book. I've highlighted so many quotation gems that would enable one to #bemorekeanu that I won't be able to share them all. But trust me, it's worth checking out.

'"The only true wisdom consists in knowing that you know nothing." That's us, dude!'

I didn't have high expectations for this one as I thought it was going to be more of a bogus novelty book than anything else what with its (admittedly excellent) full page illustrations and massive quotations. Nope! It turned out to be much more than that - I was pleasantly surprised... Yes, it's a quick read (you can get through it in just a few hours) but the content is so good that I read it in a single sitting.

This is an awesome mashup of biography, career overview and believe it or not - self-help guide. There's much we can learn from this humble movie star.

The highlights for me were learning about his generosity and his constantly positive attitude despite the immense tragedies he's faced in his life.

Here's a quote I loved - 'Even in the face of tragedy, a stellar person can thrive. No matter what’s going on in your life, you can overcome it! Life is worth living.’ - Keanu

Yes, perhaps we should all be a bit more Keanu. Be excellent to each other.

A self-help book linked to the life and films of Keanu read. Not my usual kind of read but enjoyable and some good advice. Everyone should be more Keanu!

Just loved 'Be More Keanu'!
The author, inspired by the life of Keanu Reeves, has succeeded in creating a clever mix between his filmography and his personality, and has written a true guide to "better living" on the atypical model that is Keanu Reeves.
It is obvious that film critic James King has followed Keanu's career for a very long time, and his sincere appreciation for the actor but also the endearing man is felt on every page.
The result is an elegant book, pleasant to read, full of film references and totally positive towards Keanu.
A useful book for the life advice he got from observing Keanu's, and seeing that, if there is a role model to follow to improve our own life, Keanu may be the best role model that we have in this disrupted and destabilizing 21st century, even if Keanu himself is probably not aware of being this modern "Guru on a surfboard".
If you know about Keanu's career, you're going to enjoy taking this spiritual journey in the company of Keanu's films.
If you don't know Keanu's filmography, this book will certainly make you want to spend hours in front of your screen devouring his films.
A guide to read and reread each time we wander in our own life.
Thanks to James King for writing this very original ode to Keanu Reeves.

This was a very good mash-up of Keanu love and a mind body spirit manual. I particularly loved seeing Keanu's best movie moments throughout.

I DNF'd at 40% as it was a bit long-winded for my personal tastes, I was expecting more inspirational quotes rather than in depth analysis.

A delightful and fun self-help book that made me laugh and think. We need to be more Keanu and in this times it's something we really need.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

The clue is in the name with this one. If you don't like Keanu Reeves, turn away now. Actually, no, wait. Because if you don't like Keanu Reeves, there's obviously something fundamentally wrong with you as a person. Don't believe me? Angry? Then you need to read this book.

Throughout his career, Keanu Reeves has shown in his films, interviews and also in his rather secretive personal life, that he is a truly thoughtful, generous and spiritual person. Not to mention handsome, kind, adventurous, handsome, funny, and oh yeah, handsome. But if you can stop thinking about his dashing good looks for just a second, this book brings to light how incredibly insightful he can be, and how his words and actions can melt the heart of anyone. He is, in fact, a real life guru. Not to mention those haunted eyes and chiselled jaw line.

This book made me smile on every single page. It made me happy and it made me think. It's insightful, playful and like having a little slice of mindfulness in your pocket to remind you of what's important in life. Don't like Keanu Reeves? Read it anyway.

Really lame, try-hard, unfunny pseudo-self-help book lionizing Keanu Reeves through his movies' film quotes. Dull, predictable and grossly toadying, James King writes exactly how you'd expect this book would read like: a bad, smarmy patois of dull drivel that completely fails to do anything but suck up to a movie star. Even as a gag gift - which is the only thing I see this selling as - it's not worth flicking through on the bog. The polar opposite of the cool Keanu Reeves and something I'm certain he wouldn't even glance briefly at a second time - don't bother.

Thank you James King for writing my new bible. These are words to live by.

Ahhh, Keanu - The internet’s boyfriend, a man who worked with female directors long before it was woke and who gifted each of his stunt doubles a brand new Harley. I love this man. This book is more than a homage, it’s a reminder! It’s full of advice to help you become more like this wonderfully sweet and successful guru/actor. And my goodness the world needs more Keanus right now.

I couldn’t put it down. And the book is beautifully segregated into short sections so you can revisit it as often as you need to! The wisdom is honestly so frequent and delightful that it’s difficult to choose just one favourite quote. But I’ve gone for:

‘Sometimes music should be more about catharsis than perfection, enjoying it simply as an emotional release. After all, confidence isn’t ‘They’ll like me’. Confidence is ‘I’ll be fine if they don’t’. Be brave enough to suck.’

One of my more useful reads of 2020. Be More Keanu is out on the 6th of August ☺️

Be More Keanu is the most fun, self-help type book I've ever read. Linking everyday things and methods to Keanu Reeves with the underlying message to #BeMoreKeanu. I didn't know what to expect really going in to this book, but I did indeed really enjoy the book and will forevermore be asking myself, What Would Keanu Do?

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advance readers copy in exchange for an honest review.
