I really enjoyed this book. I felt invested in Jenna and was desperate to discover the truth about her stalker. A real page turner, full of twists and turns.

I loved this book, such a good pacy thriller, easy to read, and just keeps you wanting to read on. Very hard to put down. Would thoroughly recommend.

Loved this book, it was a real page turner.
There was a lot of twist and turns in the plot which kept you gripped and wanting to read more. The reason for 4 stars is because I was a bit disappointed in the ending and the reasoning behind it. However still a good read and would recommend.

I really enjoyed this book, Jenna is a doctor who is being stalked, they come to her home and leave awful presents for her to find. she doesn't know how to trust or where to turn. Its easy to feel she is imagining it. What an awful feeling that must be, the worry nobody believes you. It was great characterisation. Would definitely recommend

One Step Behind follows the story of Jenna and her stalker. Up until the day he’s involved in an accident and lands himself in the hospital where Jenna works as a doctor, he’s leaving disturbing gifts on her doorstep and sending cruel emails wishing her to die. The power scale soon tips though as Jenna now knows his name, Matthew Dover.

I thoroughly enjoyed the way that the author integrated the views of Matthew’s sister Sophie and found that this book kept me hooked from start to finish. It’s fast paced, full of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming and the ending is shocking!

Thank you netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book. WOW what a book. This had me sucked in from the first chapter. Well plotted and very well written, its like something that is on tv. I love psychological crime thrillers but this was amazing. The twists are brilliant. Well done an absolute 5star read.

I started this last night intending to read one or two chapters, but found myself unable to put it down. I devoured this book, and I enjoyed every second of it! I was engaged and invested in Jenna, and the series of plot twists surprised me but also made sense and there was clear foreshadowing if you knew where to look! This book is one of the few books that has successfully employed red herrings throughout, and the ending was satisfying and thrilling. This is one of my favourite books this year, and I can't wait til it's out so I can make all my friends (and customers!!) read it.

Jenna has a stalker who leaves disturbing gifts on her doorstep and sends her cruel emails wishing her to die.
Until one day he has an accident and is brought to the hospital where Jenna works as a doctor. Now she knows his name, Matthew Dover, and finally, the power scale has tipped. But will she take the law into her own hands?

The story follows Jenna addressing her stalker and is interspersed with Matthew's sister Sophie's perspective.
This is the kind of book that grips you instantly. The story was fast-paced and had me at the edge of my seat all the time. It was full of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end when it provided a shocking twist that I didn't see coming.
It was my first book from Lauren North, but it won't be my last.
I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book. The writing is easy to follow and the story keeps you on hooks. The reasoning why was a bit silly but for a bit of stay at home reading it's perfect.

I did enjoy the book although it was a bit far fetched in places but it didn’t stop me from wanting to read it and finding what happened next, Freya had a stalker which would be terrifying so can understand what she must have gone through and there were so many twists and turns it made me dizzy this is the second book I’ve read of this author and look forward to the next one the ending was awesome I would definitely recommend it.

Wow this story is amazing and so twisted! I spent most of the book doubting absolutely everyone and assuming they were the problem. But this was full of so many awesome twists that I really was on tenterhooks right through,

I was really compelled to keep reading this book really quickly as I was totally drawn in and could identify with Jenna's feelings. Terrified of her stalker and facing awful experiences as he intrudes into her life, suddenly she finds herself facing him with his life in her hands. Mentally she goes on such a roller coaster and the developments in the book are often unexpected as other people in her life witness changes in her. To say more could ruin your reading experience! Read this to the end and buy it soon as your next read, you won't be disappointed!!

What a cleverly plotted and written psychological thriller.

Starts off simply enough with Jenna clearly being stalked. Those descriptions from her point of view were troubling, and unsettling to read.

Then we discover the man she is sure is the stalker is brought into her a&e department and she realises there is a potential power shift and will she potentially break the Hippocratic oath?

At the same time we get chapters focusing on Sophie, and her not overly healthy looking relationship with Nick.

All of the writing points you in a certain direction but how much can you trust an author to not have some surprises up her sleeve.

This may only be Lauren North's second psychological thriller but it is incredible. I was hooked on the words and devoured it predominantly in one sitting in the garden one afternoon.

Disturbing, well written and the culmination of the story lines was brilliant. Definitely a book I'd recommend

Thank you to Transworld Digital and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This was a really good read , very fast paced and I read it in one sitting ! Jenna is an A&E doctor , she lives with her husband and two children , for the last year she has had a stalker who is making her life hell , she sees him everywhere , he sends emails leaves disturbing gifts for her . One day she is at work and he is brought in after an accident , she thinks that now her life may settle down but she can't shake the feeling she is still being watched , and she continues to receive emails . A good twisty tale , I didn't see the twist at the end and I enjoyed this

Jenna an A&E Doctor is struggling to juggle working full time at the hospital and raise her two children Beth and Archie with her husband Stuart.

Jenna is constantly living on the edge, looking over her shoulder, paranoid that she and her family are being watched. She has a stalker, who has left her creepy doll heads, follows her and constantly sends her emails.

When her stalker has an accident and ends up as a patient at her hospital, the power is in her hands, as he is admitted in a critical state. Could she let him die?

Jenna starts to look into who her stalker is and why he picked her?

The story is told from Jenna and Sophie’s perspectives.

We go back to when Sophie was 8 and her parents adopted Mathew, who was a strange child who hardly spoke and grew up to be a loner, who loves to take photographs and is slightly creepy.

This book had me hooked from the first page with its eerie sinister feeling that Jenna was being followed, it gave me the Heebie Jeebies!! I could actually hear his footsteps behind me as I read!

OMG I love when you read a book and you think you have it all worked out then suddenly the rug is pulled from under you’re feet and you don’t know if you are coming or going.

I can’t recommend this book enough, its twists kept me guessing until the end. I couldn’t put this down and ended up reading until I could hardly see the words on the page.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

Yet another five star book by Lauren North who really is a very talent author. I loved the tension of the story and never came close to solving the crime. I enjoy it when the characters are far from perfect but still realistic. Definitely an excellent example of the psychological thriller genre. It would make an excellent tv series too.
