Well-written in a way that Children will be able to understand themselves without being patronising. The illustrations throughout really compliment both the layout of the book and the writing style. I really wish I'd had this book when I was younger!

My daughter and I really enjoyed the original book in this series (and the accompanying activity book) and it's lovely to see Fantastically Great Women returning in a longer form.

Filled with fascinating facts and Pankhurt's signature, adorable artwork, readers young and old will learn something new from this inspirational book. Its longer format offers a more detailed look at the lives, works and struggles of eight brilliant women.

It opens with an overview of the challenges faced by female scientists, providing informative context which will help readers to understand why they might not have come across some of these names before. Each woman is then given around twenty pages of detail and illustrations.

The women covered come from a huge range of scientific fields and lived (or in some cases still live) across the world, offering breadth and diversity, and ensuring that this book will inspire a wide range of readers. The lives of Mae Jemison, Marie Curie, Elizabeth Blackwell, Janaki Ammal, Katie Krafft, Caroline Herschel and Tu Youyou are explored in vivid detail. And their research is touched on too, with details on everything from astronaut training to Malaria medication.

Fantastically Great Women Scientists and their Stories would make a brilliant gift for young STEM fans, and would also be an excellent addition to primary school classrooms.

I was provided with an advanced, digital copy for review via NetGalley.

This is part of the fantastic series 'Fantastically Great Women' this time focusing in female scientist throughout history. Full of interesting facts, I particularly liked reading about Mae Johnson. This is a great book for all children but particularly those interested in the wonders the scientific world holds!

Really enjoyed it - lots to learn, and can definitely use it in class! The information was really helpful, and it was effectively divided up. I think it is the first book on NetGalley I will actually have to have the physical copy of in order to share it with my class.

This series goes from strength to strength, highlighting fantastically great woman from history. History has always focused on and favoured the achievements of men, this series pushes those boundaries so we can learn about the women who made huge contributions in their fields. This book looks particularly at scientists, including Marie Curie and Caroline Hershel.
The stories are accompanied by super illustrations mapping out the lives and contributions of each woman. “They never gave up on their dreams”, even when they were fighting to be treated fairly, given proper education and equipment to use.
It is stories like these that help girls to see the world through their dreams. They can aspire to be anything they want, they just need to dream, work hard and be determined.
These books are always incredibly popular within schools.

I enjoyed reading what I could of this book... but it was all over the place. It started at page 10 seemingly in the middle of Mae’s story and then jumped to page 72 so as soon as I started reading about one scientist the next page would be a different one!

I liked the illustrations though and what I could make sense of was really interesting!

I’m sure the actual book will be a very good read for children!

I wish they had released books like this when I was at school and not when I am no old man but I believe that one is never too old to learn and appreciate knowledge, this book is astounding and taught me so much history I am ashamed to say I did not know, an absolute must read for all
