WOW. Finished in less than a day, I couldn't put it down. Gripping, and twisty. I love the twists that make you say "ooooh" out loud! So so good!

A book told by two characters, one chapter from Danielle's perspective then from Beth's.

I enjoyed this book. Reading how two characters think and perceives the same situation is always an interesting read. I enjoyed how Danielle and Beth both the same story differently and how the characters wormed their way into each other's psyche.

I read this book quickly and found it hard to put down.

Who really is in power when a counsellor and patient meet? I guess that depends on who has a motive or how manipulative one could be.

'I Know Your Secret' unravels at a rhythmic pace, as Heald uses the dysfunctional relationship of councillor and patient to great avail. The ability for each character to be in a position to manipulate the other gives the novel an open feel, allowing for many different outcomes.

Too often, as an author begins to tie up loose ends, the pace of an otherwise fast paced psychological thriller drops out in the last 10%. Heald however does a fantastic job of closing the story with an intense climax and resolution.

I would recommend this novel for a quick, easy read that will leave the reader entertained.

Thank you #Netgalley for the arc of 'I Know Your Secret' in return for an honest review.

Beth, a therapist who’s own life is falling down around her, meets Danielle and offers to work with her. Danielle is a very damaged woman with a lot of baggage. Both women have secrets and we know their stories intersect but just not sure exactly where. This story take us on a crazy journey of betrayal, lies and devious plotting. I wasn’t sure who to believe and what was real. I thought I fingered it out about of a third of the way in but then some good twists were thrown in to offset what I thought I knew. I was definitely engaged the whole time with their story and the ending was a rush. The epilogue was a nice cap off as well.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this and offer my honest opinion.

This book started out really great. As it went on, I started to really dislike Beth AND Danielle. When there's not one character I can root for I get kind of bored. The end was a surprise, though, and I realized there had been clues sprinkled throughout the book.

Title: I Know Your Secret
Author: Ruth Heald
Rating: 3/5

A huge thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for letting me read this advanced reader copy.

Synopsis:

Beth is a marriage therapist, despite her own marriage falling apart it is her job to help fix other peoples. Danielle seeks help from Beth, her marriage is on the rocks, she has low confidence due to her disfigurement and more than anything she still wants a baby. Both these women have dark secrets, a past of grief and turmoil and unknown to Beth both these women have crossed paths before. The past is about to come back and haunt them both and change their lives as they know it.
Review:
It was the cover of the book that initially caught my attention and drew me in, but then after reading the description I was hooked, questioning what little information was given to me, therefore I was eager to get stuck in. The reviews had also looked promising and gave me high hopes for this read.
The story starts off with a prologue, a very descriptive one at that, the story is kickstarted and you are pulled in. I Know Your Secret is told from both perspectives, Danielle’s and Beth’s, it is easy to follow and evident that these women have not had it easy from the beginning. However, you are left wondering you can actually trust them both and is Danielle a liar?
The characters were quite complex with a lot going on and I wouldn’t say either of them we’re particularly likeable but I was eager to know their background and their truths. You do feel for both woman at times, they suffer from mental health which the book touches on brilliantly and it shows how women have a bad habit of comparing themselves to other woman, bringing themselves down.
As for the story itself, some of the chapters leave you in suspense so you have no choice but to keep on reading which was cleverly done. There are small twists that start to add to the tension and build up the story and halfway through the story finally begins to unravel. Personally, I feel the pace of this read was too slow for my liking and after the half way part I was really hoping it would pick up so we could get to the big revelation, the tense atmosphere the story created soon wore off due to the lack of pace.
When we eventually got to the climax, I found I was able to predict a lot of the events making the read less thrilling for me. The connections on how the characters came together were also confusing at first, but this did come together in quite a clever way. The book does keep you on your toes however, because despite guessing many of the twists, the final one did catch me off guard, the story finally began to kick off and I got the type of ending I wanted. In fact, the ending did catch me by surprise because it was unexpected, so it took a while for the book to deliver but it did in the end.
So, for me, I had a bit of a rollercoaster relationship with this book, it was full of twists and turns some predictable some not but for me it just missed the wow factor. However, I did really enjoy the author’s style of writing.

I Know Your Secret is a book that will keep you up at night. Full of twists and turns, it's a book that spins you round more than a ride at the fair ground. A gripping page turner you will not regret reading.

Ruth Heald is one of my favorite new authors! I’ve now read all three of her books, and they’re all been amazing. She just gets better and better. I love psychological thrillers and especially when they’re about moms with young children. Ruth nails the dynamic and fears. I Know Your Secret had tons of twists and turns and I couldn’t put it down! Definitely read this one!

I Know Your Secret follows two characters, Beth - a therapist who's husband has just left her & she is having to raise her child alone while juggling her clients & life - and Danielle - a new client of Beth's who has marriage problems & has a dark childhood which she needs help with.

The chapters alternate between Beth and Danielle's POV's which is good. I like that both women are focused on equally & that each chapter you learn a little bit more about them. You quickly start to realise that they are linked in more ways than first realised.

The story is very fast paced & very gripping from the beginning. I always worry with triller/drama books that they will either start off really slow or will lose the grip but this one didn't, it keeps you interested the whole way through.

The only 'issue' I have is that I worked out what happened between Beth & Danielle early on so the shock wasn't there when it was revealed. Even though I had worked it out, I did still thoroughly enjoy this book.

This book has great twists and it’s really interesting to see the view of both main characters.
The paranoia, suspense, intrigue, grips you.

**Thankyou Netgalley and the publisher for approving my request**

This book was full of twists and turns! Very well written. I can't say I was able to like or even identify with either of the main characters, but I don't think I was supposed to. Regardless, it didn't stop me from enjoying the story.

Beth's life is falling apart. Her husband left her after he had an affair, Beth begins to suspect that the new client she's begun counseling was the "other woman". Beth lost the love of her life 16 years ago and she can't stop thinking of the past. She's suffered from a mental breakdown before and it seems she's heading that way again.
Danielle wants to fix her marriage so she begins couples counseling with Beth but her husband doesn't show up. Danielle wants a baby but her husband doesn't think she'd be a good mother. When she was 15 her family faced tragedy and she needs to work past it. She's got secrets that she's keeping from her husband and her therapist.

I like how the book alternates between Beth and Danielle's POV. It definitely kept me guessing with all the twists and turns. I enjoyed reading it and it was well written but it didn't WOW me.

I Know Your Secret by Ruth Heald is a deluxe page turner! Beth and Danielle are on a secret-blasting collision course that one of them may not survive.

Beth is a counselor who is intimately familiar with how your life can fall apart. She lost the love of her life, Nick, before she met her husband and had their son. Now her husband is a cheat who is leaving her. She will lose her home and possibly her livelihood if she doesn't find more clients. She is stressed about how her son will be affected by his parents' divorce. Beth has secrets though, ones Danielle knows.

Danielle seeks marriage counseling/anger issue therapy with Beth. Her marriage has been rocky, she was in a disfiguring burn and she has more baggage than a cruise ship. Her life isn't as picture perfect as it may seem from the outside. Is her husband a control freak, are her anger issues what will break up her marriage and doom her to a childless life? Danielle has secrets too, and Beth knows them.

The pull and tug between Beth and Danielle is a nail-biter. Readers may not actually like either of these women, but they will empathize with their circumstances. Beth and Danielle hold possibly fatal secrets - their lives will come crashing down if either one of them open the boxes of secrets they hold. I highly recommend this book for anyone who likes thrillers!

This book is a real page turner.

There are two main characters and you find yourself swapping between the story and views of each.

Beth, who is now a counsellor with marriage problems of her own, finds herself having trouble, resisting, blurring the lines between counsellor and client.
Is her difficult past catching her up? Is she being paranoid?
Or is she right all along?

Danielle believes, all she does is for her family. Whether it’s right or wrong, she is determined to make the person she feels is at fault, suffer.

This book has great twists and it’s really interesting to see the view of both main characters.
The paranoia, suspense, intrigue, grips you.

Love the way it keeps you guessing.
However, I don’t think you will guess the ending?!

Read it and see.....

Great book by Ruth Heald.

This is my first book by Ruth Heald and wooow y’all I was hooked. So this book follows Beth (a counselor) and Danielle(a patient)… Beth is a marriage counselor whose marriage is in trouble *sigh* who has a son *ncaaww* who meets Danielle whose face is scarred *sad face emoji* who also has tons of secrets. I didn’t know who to believe, who to feel sorry for, and who to cheer for and the ending *shocked face emoji* Huge thanks to bookouture and Netgalley for giving me a copy in exchange of an honest review.

I found this to be an OK read.

Beth is a counsellor with a little boy whose world falls apart when her husband leaves her. Then a new client comes into her life, Danielle, with whom she gets very close, but, what's Danielle's purpose for counselling? Is it legitimate, or something more?

It's an easy read, I just found it a bit boring and slow.

Thanks to Bookoutre and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview.

What a delicious book! This was my first book by Ruth Heald and I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style! I loved the clearly marked chapters telling which character was speaking in first person. I love first person in books because it’s like I’m in their mind more than in second or third person perspectives.
I did work out some of the ending early on but I loved that there were some real punches at the end! And I LOVED the ending! I don’t want to give away and details but it just might be one of my favorite endings to a psychological thriller!
I will definitely be looking for Ruth Heald’s other books. I highly recommend I Know Your Secret!

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for allowing me the privilege of reading this ARC book in exchange for my totally honest review.

Great edge of your seat thriller. You're in for a ride with this book. Great from beginning to end.

Thanks to the publisher and Net Galley for an early release of this book.

This was fine. It was a quick, easy read. I didn't really connect with the characters and some conversations, particularly between Peter and Danielle seemed to go nowhere. Overall, though, it wasn't half-bad.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this copy for review.

Beth's world falls apart when her husband announces he is leaving her. She gets a new counselling client Danielle, who seems desperate for help with regards to her marriage. But is Danielle really there for just counselling, or could there be another reason? Beth may just have to face events of her past as things start to go wrong... what secrets will be revealed?

This is the first book I've read by Ruth Heald and I loved it! It was well written with a great plot and interesting characters. I really liked how the story went between both Beth and Danielle and you were kept guessing as to what was happening. The twist at the end was fantastic and I loved how the story came together. Very much recommended, I'll be reading other books by Ruth.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest feedback.
