This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.
This book is so fast paced due to the short chapters.

A great read

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

This was the first in this authors books that I have read. I really enjoyed it and it kept me gripped the entire way through the book. It is set during a court case which I found a really interesting concept.
Definitely would recommend.

I'm a huge fan of the Roy Grace series but I was a bit disappointed that the main himself featured far less heavily here than in other books. Most of the drama takes place in a courtroom and is fairly compelling A good read but I felt it lacked something compared to previous cases- possibly the lack of Grace.

A gripping, immersive story that I could not put down.

This might have been my first Roy Grace novel but it certainly won't be my last!

As usual Peter has done it again.
Peter is in my top 20 of authors - sorry there a few I follow and I should decide in what order they all are one day!
I’ve read a lot of Peter James’s books in the Roy Grace series and as always this was another one which was hard to put down. I loved the plot and it was nice that the was more trial focused for a change.
A great read which I would highly recommend.

This book left me feeling a little bit meh, it just felt lacklustre to me. The last book in the instalment was enjoyable but it too lacked something, this book even more so. I recall a time when I first read Dead Simple and was blown away. At 16 books into a series, I can imagine it must be tough to keep things fresh but this book just left me feeling disappointed.

The storyline had potential as a juror is being threatened and blackmailed, however even this failed to capture my attention. The writing seemed very padded out and ‘fillerish’...yes I know it’s not even a real word...but you know what I mean. The characters fell flat and there were things that I never understood about certain things within the storyline (such as how were the bad guys watching Meg?). Small details like that kind of bug me and it gave me an overall sense of dissatisfaction. I really hope that Peter James ups his game with the next Roy Grace as something needs to change!

Find them Dead by Peter James
I give this book 4 stars

Find them Dead by Peter James
I give this book 4 stars

Ending his secondment to London’s Met Police, Roy Grace gets a tip-off about a county lines drugs mastermind operating out of Brighton. On his first day back in his old job in Sussex, he is called to a seemingly senseless murder.
Separately, Meg Magellan finally has her life back together, five years after the car crash that killed her husband and their son. Meg receives a summons for jury service. But when she is selected for the trial of a major Brighton drugs overlord, everything changes.

Roy Grace is back even though he’s not so prominent in this instalment.! You can read this book as a stand-alone or as l did following on through the series. This book is based predominantly around a courtroom case. I found it an overall enjoyable read with a slower pace,
A recommended read for Peter James fans.
Thanks to Netgalley, the Author and the Publisher for my chance to read and review this book

I’ve read a lot of Peter James’s books in the Roy Grace series. As always this novel is hard to put down and as a reader I was gripped by the plot. It made nice change that this was more focused on the trial than the usual police procedure. A great read.

This is the 16th book in the series already, and its another solid read by a very talented and prolific author. I love Peter's books, he lets the reader feel part of the action, and you get so immersed in the story, you are almost disappointed when its done! Recommended for anyone who loves a good book.

Interesting storyline and a great continuation of the Roy Grace series. Fast paced and intriguing to get to know more about the jury system

Another great read from Peter James. I love his books and this was one of his best. I would thoroughly recommend this book but make sure you read his other books if you can.
Thank you Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for giving me the opportunity to give my unbiased opinion.

Back in Brighton and back with Roy Grace.
Playing catch up with this series and thoroughly enjoying it. I'm annoyed with myself that I got behind, but then I'm really pleased that I've had chance to read these back to back.
I love Roy Grace, he is a first class character. This book is full of twists and turns and a really good story to it. I'm glad i'd done my Jury service before I read the book.

Peter James needs no introduction, and if you've ever read one of his books, particularly one of his Roy Grace detective novels, then you know exactly what to expect here.

A big time drug dealer is arrested and goes to trial. In order to save himself, he threatens one of the jurors in particular - Sarah. Her daughter is away travelling, and he will have someone kill her if Sarah doesn't find a way to turn the jury in his favour. And of course she can't tell anyone.

Meanwhile, Roy Grace is investigating a murder which is linked to the court case, but will he be able to put two and two together and solve the case before it's too late?

I really enjoyed reading this. It's tense and very cleverly written. The story is quite complex and all the different elements come together really well. I especially enjoy the "baddies" in this, you could feel the evil coming across and it actually gave me chills. I liked the fact that the story revolved more around Sarah and her experience, as opposed to the detective being the centre of the story. It made a nice balance between the two parallel storylines.

I think anyone who enjoys a thriller or detective story will like this. It wasn't a challenging read but it was enjoyable.

This is the sixteenth book in the series featuring Detective Roy Grace. I have read most of them but found this one disappointing. Most of the story is centred around a court case involving Meg, one of the jurors but one which Roy Grace didn’t feature in. Details of the trial were too involved , and covered too many aspects and was boring, I hope the next book in the series is an improvement.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Flawed plot and a massively weak ending

Apart from the first couple of chapters, this crime/mystery is set in a courtroom. The book is the latest in the series featuring Superintendent Roy Grace but is centred around a jury member, Meg who gets elected Foreman. She has been approached by a shady figure to let her know that unless a Not Guilty verdict is passed, her daughter and friend who are backpacking in South America will never be seen again.

So, this will not be a long review. I started the book in July and got bored, so I went on to another. At the start of this our second lockdown in England, I went through my reading material to see what I should look at next. If I wasn’t depressed enough by lockdown, I would have been by this novel. It’s dreadful.

I have a strange feeling the author got bored too as the ending is rushed and doesn’t tie in with the plot at all. There are a vast number of loose ends which I am not going to take the trouble to list. It has very little about Roy Grace apart from a most unprofessional relationship with his boss, and it has a central character in Meg who I wanted to slap on numerous occasions. I also wonder where the title came from as I can’t recall any event in this ponderous tome which is remotely linked to it.

I have given 2 stars as I finished it –eventually (1 star is reserved for those books which I can’t pick up more than once}. I enjoy the Roy Grace series and think Peter James is an excellent author. I suppose we all have our off days and, oh boy, was this a big one. You have been warned.

I absolutely love the “dead” series by Peter James and this latest in the series did not disappoint

Another fantastic page turner with a new fresh story that keeps you hooked

Eagerly waiting to see where he takes the next book with his son who is turning out to be a little strange to say the least!!

Keep them coming Peter my favourite series by far

Another great read in one of my favourite series! A great storyline that had you gripped from the start, my only criticism would be that Roy Grace Or any of the other main characters in the series played very little part in it so it felt more of a stand-alone book rather than part of the series. It was however left with a big cliffhanger which makes me eager to get going on the next one !!
