I was hoping I'd enjoy this book but I just realized that this genre does not work for me. I am sure someone else would enjoy it if they are a fan of the genre.

I found this to be different, interesting and intriguing. This was a fast paced read full of different characters and races. I’m glad that I finally got to this one and finally picked it up.

This was a saga of four books. The World building was unique, the premise interesting, the protagonist was lovable as were all the other creatures in this world and the author did a good job of creating enough action without being overly action packed.. I enjoyed this book, but I'm not sure that I would go back and reread it. At some points it was long and overwhelming, However, it was a great book series to curl up with.

I really enjoyed the part about pheonixs and firebirds, but the characters was alright...but nothing that made me very interested. I manged to get through book 1, but had to stop at book 2. This just was not for me.

This impressive and imaginative dynamic duo delivers this heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, page flipping, block busting bombshell, bestowing this delectably composed spin, with an intense storyline and gripping plot, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. Escapades and mayhem rule the roost displaying the drama, turmoil, intrigue, spiraling suspense and intense situations, along with a boatload of moxie, you have one intoxicating masterpiece. Shattering boundaries and dispensing lines, exposing the strengths and weaknesses being weighed and balanced, booting this gem into the eye of the storm, breaking it down, knocking it into overdrive, catapulting it into a hissy with a life-altering culmination.

Really a saga worth reading and falling in love with! It was incredible, and complex and addictive!

i never ended up downloading this but i picked it up recently.

This was.. wow, what a rollercoaster (in a good way). The world building was so elaborate, we have several races with different traits and traditions and their own past that finally emerged into one present.

I really enjoyed reading this series a lot! I absolutely loved the characters and the storyline was perfect for me.
Looking forward to reading more from this author

I'm afraid that this book wasn't for me... but that doesn't mean that it isn't for everyone. I'm sure that there are people out there who would really like this saga, I'm afraid that I'm not one of them.

I really wanted to like this book - I couldn't though - there was a heavy hand of 'preacher over the underlying mythological elements but there were some beautiful elements too. I finished the book, but it's not one I'd revisit, and after a week, I couldn't tell you what it was really about other than some of it really felt jarring and unsuitably toned. Also, some of the 'characterisation', which I remembered after publishing the review, was pretty stereotypical. This was an epic and long read, and when I finished, I was skimming by the end, because there was a tonne if issues with book 4, but, I wanted to finish, which I guess is worth something.
2.5 stars, rounded to three on Netgalley.
I was given a copy of this book to review on Netgalley by the author or publisher, in exchange for an honest opinion. Thank you for the opportunity.

I received an e-arc of this from NetGalley for an honest review.

I will admit, starting this book seemed extremely daunting because of its length. Four books in one is a lot. But when I did start it, I was immediately sucked in. I simply couldn’t put it down. And I came to appreciate having all four books in one so I never had to wait to start the next book.

This saga had so much to offer. I would’ve even know where to start. There’s just so much about this that deserves recognition. I love the writing and I love the world and the world building. Everything was so well done and well executed, and I am in love with it. Everything was also so unique and different and it felt like the first truly new thing I’ve read in a while.

I love a good fantasy series. And I love fantastical creatures. This book gave us an abundance of different kinds of creatures, and it was so fun learning about them and then seeing the parts they all had to play in the end. I also love when a series can manipulate my emotions so well. And this did that. I felt the love and the loss and the fear of the unknown (which is one of my biggest fears actually lol). I appreciated seeing and feeling the, acknowledge and come to accept their differences. I love seeing characters overcome their differences and do what’s needed together. Especially when there’s two groups who have deep rooted issues with each other that eventually come together. My heart!

I appreciated that this wasn’t a story of action, action action, and I appreciate that it also wasn’t such a glacially slow slow-burn. It was a very well paced story with a massively strong plot line. It’s so hard to come by stories like this. I wish more characters got happy endings. I love a good happy ending, but I can understand why not. It made the story much more realistic and relatable. I can appreciate how it was handled. It was such an amazing adventure and journey that I’d happily experience all over again, including the hurt and loss.

I am grateful to have been given the chance to delve into this world and share this review. Please do yourself a favors and take a journey through it as well.

So I have a lot of thoughts on his book. Let me start be prefacing that this isn’t my typical genre and generally I don’t read a lot of books about mythical creatures. That said there are a lot of intriguing elements here, and maybe I’m reading too deep into it, but I feel the author trying to allude to a lot moral arguments laced into the story. There is a lot of really beautiful imagery as well. So if you let yourself walk down that path you can potentially get lost in some really deep, consequential life tracts. While the idea of the Phoenix is written into many fantasy storylines, we get a new perspective here with Phoenixes in human form and other classes of beings known as Firebirds, who’s main power is the ability to create plants and nature. While Phoenixes are immortal, Firebirds use their power of creation. These 2 races are stuck in a world destroying itself. They have a small path toward a better future but it means that the 2 races have to work together. Because this is a series boxed together it can be a little long, and because I’m really busy it took me almost 2 months to finish. There are a lot of characters and storyline elements in the story which can get a little confusing, but generally the story holds together well. If there were a follow up, I would read it. This was a very long and beautiful journey. I really love the universe and how the author exploit all of his characters. It was a very intense book that made me go through pretty much all the emotions a human being can go through.

I really wish there was a hard copy of this book, because I want to have it on display and be able to read the physical version.

Dayanara is eighteen and an outcast in her village as her mother is considered a thief. As she is being punished, she sees a man light himself on fire and then returns alive after burning to death. He is a Phoenix. Phoenixes are not allowed in her village. Why? She manages to cross a river, climb up a cliff and meets her first Phoenix whose name is Dorian. He tells her to go home. She doesn’t stop going to the phoenix’s place and becomes friends with other phoenixes. She is not suppose to know any Phoenix as they are the enemy. She knows she has to be secretive about visiting them but her one “friend” follows her without her knowing. The story continues through the following volumes. Dayanara will have adventures with surprising twists and turners that kept me immersed. I liked Dayanara’s curiosity and more. She is on a journey to find out who her birth father is. She also wants to understand Dorian, her first Phoenix friend. It’s been wonderful not to have to wait for the next book to be published to read it. The author has written an amazing fantasy series. I will be adding her to my must read author list. Don’t miss this series!

Well...I can't say I didn't enjoy this series, but I can't say I enjoyed it, either. I kept reading because I was curious how it ended, but I did not savor the actual reading of the book itself. It was very confusing. Things really weren't explained well, and when they were, I found that they were at best only explained like halfway. Something else I consistantly noticed throughout the whole series was the confusing and overused dragon scenes. Need some action in the book? SEA DRAGON.
Need a plot twist I TOTALLY did not see coming? *said with heavy sarcasm* DRAGON BLOOD. For something the author is going to use over and over again and is supposed to be the source of every plot twist, you would think they would at least be explained. But NOPE.

The first book had an interesting premise, but it suddenly took a hard left turn and the plot went in a whole new direction than the summary said. We only got to briefly glimpse the whole burning phoenix part at the very end of the book, and even then that mystery is not solved until later books. That being said, this was the best book by far.

The second book was...interesting. A whole new cast of characters get introduced, and I can't really say if that's a good or bad thing. I mean, it's nice and all to see new characters, but EVERY SINGLE TIME one of these new characters joins a scene, this happens:

(This character is from Egypt)-Runs his fingers through sand and talks about hourglasses
(This character is from China)-Talks incessantly about and gazes at Yin and Yang necklace
(This character is from Spain)-Speaks Spanish and then translates to English, fingers his crucifix
(This character is from Australia)-Loves water and has an accent

I don't know about anyone else, but it seems like all of this was just repeated over and over for the author to get diversity points.

The third book was just not memorable.

The fourth book was a hot mess. Everything was just confusing and just going at a slow pace, then at the end BAM!! everything happened at once. It was nice change of pace however to see the main character not save her "soul mate" and instead save her friend of 10 years.

I just couldn't get into this series, and by the end, I wasn't even cheering for the main couple. There is not much facinating about any of the characters and there was much left unexplained. The lush volcanic island was an intriguing setting to read about and provided for very vibrant covers for the books.

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

The pleasures of life can't come without the pains of grief and regret. That must be why the tagline of this series captured my interest so quickly and deeply. We would all want to erase our sufferings in the past, but are we willing to pay the price?

Besides this, there are also quite a number of ideas and concepts in these books that capture the imagination. Soulmates, a world that extracts payment from its inhabitants, races that can heal people or nourish the soil. Unfortunately, I don't think having all of these in one series added to it. Instead, they don't quite fit well together and leaves the main premise scarcely explored to a satisfying conclusion.

The worldbuilding in the series is beautiful and captivating. Maneating plants, crystal caves, the Vitalis, and more. However, this is taken away by the author's attempts to explain it all. It also put me off a lot that this is a result of some apocalyptic event and rapid evolution. As a scientist at heart, this irks me in more ways than one. It might have been better left as a pure fantasy realm.

As for the plot, I don't think it meshes well with the main premise either. The books are long and drawn out, the storylines becoming convoluted as more and more is added.

It was great that there were so many characters. I wish that more of them could play a bigger part in the story. It was hard to relate to any one of them, because they mostly felt one-dimensional to me, with their relationships to each other superficial.

Honestly, I can't help but feel that there were many great parts to these books, just not executed to the best of their potential.

The cover is beautiful. The description made me curious enough to apply for an ARC. I was hoping to find something new and unique.
What I found instead was a childish writingstyle, mixed with a topic of a YA/Teens novels. I had expected a bit more... phoenix and I still do not get what the deal with those shitty man-eating plants was. Gave me Little Shop of Horrors vibes without the actual feeling of this. musical/movie. and not in a good way.
