Very difficult book to read. Must be very difficult for the survivors to put this behind them when the war was over. So sad this is a true story. How ever did the Germans get away with the sadistic abuse on such a grand scale and no one stepped in to stop it. Where is our God when you read of such atrocities.

This is a beautiful story but requires a lot of concentration and attention whereas I prefer to just relax into a book. I find these types of books fascinating so I persisted with it. For passionate historians this is a must but if you're looking something that is an easier read this may be a little difficult.
Well done to the families for getting their stories out there though and I feel that we need more of these types of books so that we never forget the horrors of WW2 and how the Nazis treated the Jewish communities.

An incredible - and important - story, beautifully told. A perfect example of how the human spirit can overcome the unthinkable.
Everyone should read this. Never forget.

His book is a heavy read. It is thoroughly researched and focuses on three pregnant Jewish women during the last months I f the Holocaust and WW2. I had never heard of these women or their stories and found this book incredibly informative!
However, it could have been so much more concise. I appreciate the author giving thorough background information on the women, their husbands and their families as well as their experience until the beginning of the war. But the repeated descriptions of the ghettos, the inhumane and insanitary environments and conditions in both the trains and the camps have almost stopped me reading and left me skipping pages, numerous times. This is not to say that I didn’t empathise with the women and prisoners- I did! But I got the gist of their situation, desperation and fear from the first few descriptions. The repetition prolonged the read unnecessarily.
I am glad to have read this book and gotten to know so much more about women prisoners and the miracle babies of Mauthausen and Freiberg.

A very emotional book of three women and their struggle and determination to protect their unborn children of the horrific torture they went through.Born Survivors is a book you will never forget.5*

What can i say about this book. was so lovely to see the three babies meet up when they are older. It was very sad and heart-breaking to hear of the things they had to endure in their young life. Happy at times, hard to read also but definitely recommend

A very powerful insight to three very strong women’s experiences at such a harrowing time. These three women had so much strength and courage not only for themselves but for their unborn babies.
This book was hard to read at times due to the nature of the subject but it is a must read and so very informative. There is a good amount of in-depth explanation about the time, places and the lives of these women before concentration camps.

Truly inspirational. How very strong women were having to endure unspeakable torture. Throughout the book it brought me to tears however I felt guilty because these women do not need sympathy but extreme praise and have unbelievable courage. I shied away from what happened under the power of Hitler, This book is about courage and strength about family and loyalty. I can’t say I enjoyed this book It is not the correct word to use however these women did manage to see humour even though there was no humour to be seen. I would recommend this book 100% it is thoroughly inspirational especially at this unprecedented times.
