A short, but interesting and eye opening read in what can happen you say yes to God and truly look to listen for his voice. The book will make you think a little more and have you longing to hear from God.

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Using anecdotes from her own life, Lysa Terkeurst provides several concrete ways and scriptures to know when God speaks. Lysa encourages her readers to have a more intimate relationship with the Lord, and she provides a quick start guide to make it practical.

“Is God Speaking to Me” is a quick read—less than half an hour for me. If you’re looking for a deep dive, skip this and head for one of Lysa’s other books. But if you need a refresher or help with where to begin, this is a nifty little resource.

I have been a long-time fan of Lysa TerKeurst and her writing. So often it seems like she is writing from my head, knowing my thoughts, frustrations, and insecurities. My favorites of hers include MADE TO CRAVE and THE BEST YES. She writes from the heart including personal experience and insight and combines it with Godly expectations and scriptural support. She writes like you are sitting at the table together and I appreciate her insight so much.

I read her latest as an eBook, but from what I understand it is more of a booklet than a book. Harvest House calls it a Pocket Book and is just under a 4″x 6″ size. At 64 pages, you might think there isn’t much to learn, but TerKeurst packs it full of wisdom. If you’ve ever wondered if the thoughts in your head or the feelings in your heart have been put there by God, this is the book to help you discern God’s voice from yours or even someone else’s.

This pocket book is an excerpt from her previous book, WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WOMEN SAY YES TO GOD. In these books, she asks readers to be obedient to God. Starting the day with prayer and conversation with God opens up the opportunity for communication with Him and to be ready to hear what He has to say. She also offers five key questions to ask yourself when you are wondering if this nudging or direction is coming from God. Answering those key questions help you discern whether God is asking you to step out and lead, step out in faith, try something new, or be obedient to Him.

These five questions though do require you to have that personal relationship with God, so if you aren’t sure about your faith in this area, referring to Scripture and spending time alone with Him in prayer is a great place to start. Knowing God so you can recognize His messages is the first step to hearing Him. Knowing His Word, His character, and what would please Him makes separating out the good expectations from the bad much easier.

When your parents or best friend or sister give you advice, you listen and take their advice to heart or lean on them for support. You trust them because they know you and your relationship with them is strong. The same is true when God offers advice or direction. If you already have a relationship with Him, it is easier to recognize his voice and be more willing to heed his advice.

“God will not say things that are inconsistent with who He is.”

Start by investing time each day to have a conversation with God. It doesn’t have to be proper or formal. Just talk to Him. When we spend that time with Him, He will respond and we will start to see Him speak to us in many places of our lives.

I found TerKeurst’s book to be helpful in discerning what is God’s voice and when he is nudging me. Her five-question check made so much sense to me and confirmed what I already believed about my relationship with Him and that he is hearing my voice too.

I received an ARC from Harvest House Publishers, via NetGalley. This review is my opinion.

In this booklet, which is three chapters of the book What happens when women say yes to God. Lysa Terkerust opens up and knows we all can be related to those struggles, especially about knowing and following God’s will for our lives. Though short in this practical book we find much useful advice we can practice in our daily life, I like how Lysa focuses on how important is to trust and rely completely on God and not ourselves. That even when we feel afraid of taking the step if we trust and believe we can see miracles happen even when things don’t make sense. I like how she emphasizes the importance of being honest with God and how we won’t reject it by it. Surrender requires to be daily. The more time I spent with God I will learn how to hear his voice and to follow his lead. And at the end of this booklet, we find helpful Bible Promise we can have on a visible place to memorize.

This short little pocket book is packed with so much truth. The question is, Is God Speaking to Me? The answer is YES! We only have to learn His voice and obey His direction. This was a quick read but also a re-centering book that I recommend! This book points to another book she wrote called What Happens When Women Say Yes to God which is supposed to expound on the things covered in this short book.
Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to review this book for my honest opinion.

This is a short but important read by Lysa Terkeurst. Knowing whether or not I'm truly hearing what God is saying to me has been a constant question since I began my faith walk. And while no book - including this one - can truly answer that for us, Lysa does a good job creating her case using bible passages and stories from her own life and struggles learning to hear God. "Is God Speaking to Me" isn't going to provide you with a definitive answer but it will get you into the book that will, and the more we open our bibles, the louder His voice becomes.

I am reviewing a copy of Is God Speaking to Me through Harvest House Publishers and Netgalley:

Have you ever questioned whether God speaks to us today. Or are you worried about whether what you are perceiving as God’s voice is you’re own thoughts. You are not alone in these thoughts.

In Is God Speaking to Me, Lysa Terkeust shares how she wrestled with these very thoughts, and questions. As well as sharing with the reader how God has taught her to more clearly discern His direction in her everyday life.

This book helps you by using scripture, encouraging personal stories as well as practical application.

Stop going through the motions of life and learn how to recognize and respond to the Divine appointment the Lord has for you.

This little booklet carries a lot in a few pages, I’d recommend to anyone who has ever questioned whether or not God still speaks to us today.

I give Is God still Speaking to Me five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

Lysa will always be an autobuy author for me and this really solidified that.

Lysa writes like she's sitting with you on her couch, a cup of coffee in hand ready to remind you of exactly who God is and what He wants to do through you. It's the swift kick in the pants we all need to be better believers, friends, and women.

This book awakened something that had fallen asleep deep inside me after I finished ministry school and made me reconsider, am I actually trying to listen to God's voice, or have I already decided I can't hear it?

A book for every women. SO good. So important. So lysa.

“Is God Speaking To Me” by LysaTerkeurst is a quick and insightful read. FYI, though, this is an excerpt taken from LysaTerkeurst’s book “What Happen When Women Say Yes To God”. I didn’t know that, and I have own and have already read that book. So this was a repeat to me! But it didn’t hurt to read her words again. I have loved all the books that LysaTerkeurst has written. She writes in a way that it feels as if she is sitting right across from you, talking to you like a friend. This booklet has a lot of key concepts that can be used in our daily lives.

I definitely recommend this booklet. I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

This is not exactly a book, but a short little booklet is going to be enjoyable for you if you like Lysa TerKeurst. I liked the way she talks about obedience and If you read her book "When Women say yes to God" you will see that is kind of the same content (I´m not sure if it exactly the same because I gave the other one away). I had a nice memory about when I was single and I also felt I had to give my bible away... in a bus station. And later a book in a plane never imagined the same thing happened to someone else and it was written in a but. That was fun. I obviously didn´t "hear" the voice of God in my ears, but it was like an inner conviction inside that I should do it (just to let it clear: I wanted to keep my book and my bible, didn´t intend to give them away). I already read the book she is referring to and didn´t know it was about it when I got this one. I must admit I don´t like the title very much, because it sounds kind of mistic and I believe the Word of God is written and we can have access to it, with no need of guessing what is he telling. I like that she admits she has never heard (audible) the voice of God. She talks about impressions and thoughts. There are study questions and I just invite you to check it out and find out if you find it helpful or not. We all need to be very into God´s word so we can discern his will. We need to separate feelings from His Word. Not my favorite by her, one must admit. She has other great titles by the way..

This little booklet is taken from TerKeurst's book, What Happens When Women Say Yes to God. She shares her profound experience of hearing God tell her to give her personal Bible to the fellow next to her on a plane. Her obedience and the subsequent events she experienced are very encouraging.

TerKeurst shares how she has learned to hear from God, though never audibly. She gives us her morning prayer and provides several questions we can ask to distinguish our thoughts from God's impressions. She also tells us how God will confirm His messages to us.

This is a good little booklet for readers who wonder if God speaks today and want to know how to hear His voice. There are study questions to answers and Scriptures to read so this would make a fine study for a weekend. TerKeurst's writing style is a pleasure to read in this honest and encouraging booklet.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

This is a collection of a few chapters from one of Lysa's earlier published books; it is not new material.

I am a fan of Lysa TerKeust and have read most of her books. This booklet was not what I hoped it would be. I felt like it was missing something. I liked the material but it was not my personal favorite.

I think that this is a nice booklet for anyone who has ever asked (which I think a lot of us have) Is God Speaking to Me? Especially if they have not read anything by Lysa before.

Lysa TerKeurst is definitely one of the top women Christian writers of this generation. She is honest and real, which makes her voice feel reliable. TerKeurst really gives off that friend vibe that you want in a christian book.

"Is God Talking to Me?" was quick and practical. I love that TerKeurst gives real questions to help discern what God is calling you to do. I think that sometimes hearing the voice of God can be overwhelming. We don't always hear it, we don't always see it, we don't always perceive it. TerKeurst even addresses this saying, maybe we should filter all our urges through her list of questions.

Honestly, I don't think I listen for God's voice enough. This book was a big reminder to be rooted in the scriptures to be more fully attuned to what God is saying to me and through others. It also reminded me that I can miss it, if I'm not listening.

I gave this booklet 4 stars. I love the practicality of it and the clear need it answers. TerKeurst fills a void and worry that a lot of people have, myself included. I would love to do the whole study this book pairs with. Thanks to NetGalley and Harvest House Publishers for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

This booklet is an excerpt from one of the author’s previously published books. I think it would have been more helpful to the reader if Lysa and the publishing team updated/revised the original book (versus publishing a small booklet).

This book was targeted for women, but it certainly applies to all people. Lysa addresses the fact that we have been called to a life of obedience and serving God not ourselves. The challenge is hard, but the reward is great. She gives a road map on how to have open lines of communication with God. It can be hard to tell if what you are feeling/hearing is from God or not. You will hear stories of ordinary people who experience real life change. Life can be challenging and we doubt that God can do anything with us, but God can use even something small and make it great. This book is made from segments of another one of her works, but it is an important to focus in on how to form that relationship with God. You will be guided through the steps of how to get there, challenges you may face, how to conquer fears and focus on the bigger picture. If you want a shorter book that is straight to the point and gives you action steps on how to "say yes to God", this is a great book for you. Don't let the length fool you though. It is chalk full of information and scripture to support why hearing God's voice will be a blessing to your life.

Have you ever wondered if you could hear God's voice? I have. I doubt myself all the time.

I love this book by Lysa because she really helps me stop getting so much in my head with things and to trust that I can actually hear from God. She talks about how to expect God to speak and the happiness that stems from the absolute assurance that God will speak and is speaking to us. It's just so good! I can't recommend this book enough to all my friends and family. I might even get all the women in my family this for Christmas, because it is so, so good!

I think this book should be for all women who struggle with their identity in Christ and if they can actually hear his voice.

Many Christians (myself included) want to hear God's voice. We want to know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that we are following Him, hearing His voice. We want to follow His plans for us, not our own selfish desires masked as God's plans. But that can be hard to do. How do we really know God is speaking to us?

In "Is God Speaking to Me?" Lysa TerKeust spends a few short chapters sharing stories of times she has heard God's voice, as well as ways to know when God is speaking to each of us. I really appreciated the list of questions she asks whenever she is listening for God's voice. This booklet was short and sweet, but still Biblical and helpful.

*I received a complimentary copy of Is God Speaking to Me? through the publisher and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My positive review is not required.

3.5 stars. First of all, this is an odd little booklet, in that it is a collection of a few chapters from one of Lysa's earlier published books; it is not new material. Also, because it is a booklet, it does feel a tad incomplete, though it would serve well as an intro or hook to some of Lysa's other books.

My main criticism of this book is that it is told very anecdotally, with Lysa sharing her experiences of listening to God, without much actual direction on how to discern His voice and direction, as the title suggests. To be fair, this is a topic about which there isn't much concrete advice to give. However, other books do it better.

Lysa does have some wonderful feel-good and encouraging stories to share, and it is a very quick read that encourages spending more time talking to and listening for God, which is ALWAYS good advice.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley, opinion is my own.

I think this booklet is not only an effective way to get readers jnterested in the full book "What Happens When Women Say Yes To God", (although it's definitely on my to-read list now!) but could serve as a Christianity 101 of sorts to teach the basic tools of prayer, reading and reflecting on the Word, asking the 5 questions, and looking for God jn your every day life. You can feel the depth of Lysa's faith just by reading her words which makes you want to seek out what she has with God. Even though this is a portion of a book written for women, I think the concepts could also be helpful for men. After all, the beginning story is about a man whose faith grew out of an interaction with Lysa!

“Radical obedience is hearing from God, feeling His nudges, participating in His activity, and experiencing His blessings in ways few people ever do.”

From “Is God Speaking to Me?” by Lysa TerKeurst
This short book packs a powerful message! Lysa TerKeurst, in her familiar, down-to-earth, relatable style, shares her insight to unpack and answer a big question, “Is God Speaking to Me?”

With Scripture as her starting point, Lysa enlightens the reader on how to hear God’s voice, every day. She encourages one with prayers and explains through anecdotes what it looks like to live this out.

“Each day when I wake up I pray a very simple prayer even before my feet hit the floor. God, I want to see You. God, I want to hear You. God, I want to know You. God, I want to follow hard after You. And even before I know what I will face today, I say yes to You. This simple act of surrender each morning will prepare your eyes to see Him, your ears to hear Him, your mind to perceive Him, and your heart to receive Him.”

From “Is God Speaking to Me?” by Lysa TerKeurst
Through committing time to God, in prayer, worship and Bible study, His voice becomes clearer and one’s whole perspective shifts. Lysa breaks down this process into manageable bite-size pieces.

“When you look at your everyday circumstances through the lens of God’s perspective, you come to see each situation, each person who crosses your path, each encounter with Him as a divine appointment.”

From “Is God Speaking to Me?” by Lysa TerKeurst
I’ve read several of Lysa’s books and enjoy Bible study with her ministry, Proverbs 31 Ministries, so the principles of this book we’re familiar. However, I love the way Lysa distills complex topics into easy-to-remember and live concepts. She creates 5 simple questions to ponder if it is God speaking and her joy for time with God is inspiring!

“No longer is your day just one task after another, but rather a string of divine appointments and hidden treasures waiting to be discovered.”

From “Is God Speaking to Me?” by Lysa TerKeurst
This is one to park in, come back to and enjoy. I found it refreshing, a great reminder to be still with God and savour the gift His presence is as well as a call to seek His input in my day more frequently. I highly recommend it, it’s a five out of five on the enJOYment scale!
