Thanks to Netgalley, Miranda Smith and Bookouture for allowing me to review this ARC.

In the world of thrillers these days, it is hard not to get stuck in a "rut" with repetitive story lines, and honestly, hard sometimes not to get bored with the genre. However, this book definitely took me on a ride. I enjoyed every minute of it and had a very hard time putting it down. Miranda Smith's writing is excellent and glues you right to the page from the beginning. I highly recommend this amazing thriller!

This was a really great suspense novel. I totally thought I had the book figured out but I was completely wrong. It was very enjoyable and I will definitely recommend.

This book was amazing! But that means I’m going to have a hard time telling you why. How is it that the best books are the most difficult to review?

What I Know is jam-packed full of suspense despite the fact that you know who is doing what. Don’t be put off by that. You will still be gripped as Della alternates between Zoey and Brian’s stories. Both stories are equally good and I admire the author’s consistent plotline and the lack of silly red herrings.
What’s equally as good as the plotline is the character development. This is especially the case with Brian and Zoey. As their stories progress, we see them grow (albeit into the role of a psychopath) and we get insights into why they do what they do. Della’s growth is in some ways the opposite. We see her become stronger and better able to deal with what life throws at her. While they become worse, she becomes better. Also, I became more emotionally invested in Della as the chapters went on and I really enjoyed her as a character by the end.

Cleverly written this thriller weaves it's cleverly contrived way to a humdinger of an ending. I could feel my toes curling up in anticipation. A must read.

It isn’t often a story comes along that follows you into the daylight. This book is that book. It compels you to continue long after you should take a break. The writing is well formatted and incisive. I wish you well it is not one to read with just one light on.

The outcome of this book is very clear from the outset. In saying that it held my attention to the end and I enjoyed the read. The main character and her relationships from her past are captivating. Also the links from the subplots into the main plot are well done and joined beautifully. The language and descriptions used by the author are intoxicating in describing feelings and the impact of ones childhood on adulthood. I would have liked more depth in description of the relationships and characters in the present of the book. Worth a try. Psychological thriller but not too disturbing.

When I was in school, it always seemed like the meanest girls were the ones who knew how to win over the teachers with their big, fake smiles and their insincere compliments. But in What I Know by author Miranda Smith, one teacher is able to see through the lies to fear the danger lurking in her classroom.

Narrated through two timelines, What I know by Miranda Smith, is a dark, psychological thriller that brings up thoughts about nature vs nurture. Are people born evil or is evil an acquired trait? Della is hiding a dark secret about her elder brother, Brian. However, her secrets soon come to the surface when she encounters a student who reminds her of Brian. Della could see the darkness n her brother way before anyone else could. Similarly, she seems to be the only one who can see Zoey for who she really is.

I was drawn to the past timeline about Della and Brian growing up. Although, it was easy to guess the secrets about Brian, I was still intrigued by events that took place and couldn’t stop reading until the final reveal. I struggled with the present timeline due to various issues. First of all, Della was bordering obsessive about her student and crossed so many logical and professional boundaries in her search for the truth. Although maybe justified, I found some of her actions cringe-worthy. I also didn’t like her friends and couldn’t really understand some of their ‘telling’ actions. In addition, I went into the story expecting some twists or jaw-dropping reveals but I didn’t get any of these.

In the end, I loved the writing and couldn’t stop reading to the last page. I wish the mystery was a bit stronger and I would have loved to have a character that I could root for. However, I am once again in the minority with this one. Most readers seem to have enjoyed it way more than I did. If you are a fan of this genre, definitely do check it out. You probably will have a much better experience than I did.

5 Stars!

What I Know is a terrific story! I rarely read a book all the way through in one or two sittings, but this novel became an exception. I could hardly wait to see what happened next with Della, a wholly believable and sympathetic character. Della is a teacher who is able to see what others can't when it comes to spotting abnormal behavior. When she becomes convinced one of her students is a dangerous psychopath, she has a tough time convincing colleagues there's a reason for concern. No one believes her.

One of the things I liked best about this story was the supportive and loving relationship between Della and her husband Danny. It was sooooo refreshing to read a thriller where the husband is actually a good guy. Even when he doubted Della's claims about one of her students being potentially dangerous, he didn't belittle her concerns. He wanted her to be careful, but remained firmly on her side.

What I Know is well written, well paced, and thoroughly entertaining. Loved it! Many thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for providing an ARC to read and review.

It’s a regular day in Della’s English class. She knows which students enjoy the class, which ones slack off, and which ones hide behind a pleasant and normal facade. This last one isn’t a regular occurrence in Della’s life, at least not anymore, but it is after Zoey enters her class. Della knows a sociopath when she sees one. She knows how they carry themselves, how they talk, what their micro-expressions mean, and the sordid intent behind their friendly exterior. She knows it all because she lived through it with her brother. Now, with Zoey in her class, Della not only revisits her past, but she must also decide how to handle the walking chaos-in-the-making in her classroom.

This is such a brilliant book! I love stories centered on Cluster B personalities, and this is as well-researched and accurate as it gets. You just know there’s more to this story than meets the eye, and you can’t wait to find out as you tap on the Kindle pages. I for one was mindful of every red herring, of every clue, and of the various backstories and stakes that made the rest of the story plausible. I am impressed, and that says a lot, for few psychological thrillers impress me these days. The twists and turns leave your head spinning in the same way sociopaths do when they remove their nice-person mask.

Downsides? The second part of the book seems a bit rushed. I would have liked a subtler ebb and flow. Too much happens all at once. Also, I received this book as a galley with a different title. It was called THE GOOD GIRL before they changed it to WHAT I KNOW. It made it difficult to find on my NetGalley shelf. Other than that, I love WHAT I KNOW and I give it four and a half enthusiastic Whipped Vanilla Cold Brew iced coffees!

I enjoyed this book but wasn't as enthralled with this book as I would have liked. Lately, I have read a lot of superb thrillers so unfortunately this book had a lot to live up to from the beginning. I

I really liked this book. It cept my interest throughout the whole book. I liked Della although I didn't understand her obsession. i felt her frustration when everyone seemed to believe she imagined things and had an agenda against one of her students. I liked the dual timelines. Getting to know what happened in the past made her actions in the "now" make sense.
A really good psychological thriller.

"Della knows what evil looks like when it hides behind a confident smile. Her own brother, the town’s darling, couldn’t keep his true nature hidden for ever."

Overall this book was an enjoyable read, it was suspenseful, intriguing and well written. I liked the character development especially in regards to Zoey and Brian. I loved reading about them and their obvious psychopathy as told by Della.

I recieved a digital copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book made me look at every child i know and question my good/evil radar! While it all seems WHOLLY impossible that anyone could be capable of the events in this book, you will not ever question the plausibility of this plot line! This was a read that I could not set down!

Teacher Della Mayfair is trying to forget about her past and her brother who is a convicted killer. But when a new student arrives in her class, Della is convinced that the new girl exhibits the same dangerous tendencies that her brother displayed.
Zoey is well liked by the other staff and students so Della becomes frustrated that she is the only person to recognise the risk. Can she make others believe her about Zoey's true nature or is Della's own past skewing her viewpoint...?
What I Know is a dark psychological thriller. There is little violence or graphic description so the actions are left up to the readers' imaginations. My heart sank with fear when young Della was given a dog but thankfully my imagination was worse than what was described.
Della's perspective is told through a dual timeline narrative, both in the first person. We see her present day experiences with Zoey and flashbacks to her childhood with brother Brian. I felt frustrated and even angry as Della was constantly disbelieved by her parents in the past and her colleagues in the present.
The focus is very much on how Brian and Zoey's insidious behaviours impact on Della. I found Brian much more interesting as the danger felt more real and direct. There was little motive to Zoey's actions as well as scant evidence that Della can use so she feels undermined by her colleagues but she never loses her conviction that she is right.
I felt that the ending was a tad abrupt and would have liked more insight into Zoey as well as the aftermath of the final climactic event, but overall What I Know was an enjoyable thriller.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read the ARC of "What I Know" by Miranda Smith in exchange for my honest review.
This psychological thriller was gripping from the first page till the last!

From the moment high school student Zoe Petersen enters Della Mayfields English class, she feels that there is something off about the girl.
Sure Zoe is smart, sociable and an excellent athlete, but it's the comments she makes, certain info she seems to have and those blank stares that are making Della feel very uncomfortable.
Moreover, having grown up with a psychopath brother, Della has developed a sixth sense when it comes to detecting and interpreting certain behaviour. Della, just knows Zoe is trouble.

When bad things start to happen, it's crystal clear to Della that Zoe is to blame and that she's seriously dangerous. It's like watching history repeat itself.
The problem is though that Della is the only one seeing right through the girl's act.
In fact, she has to get some serious proof fast to convince her colleagues about how dangerous Zoe realy is, before people get hurt....

The story goes back and forth between past and present which made it all the more interesting.
I was very intriguied by what happend with Della's brother Brian in the past but equaly invested in the present storyline revolving around Zoe. I particulary liked the main character Della and understood her struggles and anxieties.
All in all a very good read!

As they say : “ Just because you’re paranoid, it doesn’t mean they’re not after you. “

This story is heartbreaking, terrifying and infuriating. I absolutely could not put it down!

Chaos ensues when you’re up against a charming and terribly dangerous person who has you in their sights!
Do you play along as to not risk your safety or do you put yourself in the line of fire?

I didn’t want this book to end. I loved every minute of it.

Thank you to #NetGalley for providing me with an damaged copy to read and review!

4.5 stars

What I Know (entitled Good Girl at the time of this review) is fast-paced and engaging from the first page until the last. I liked how it alternated between the narrator’s past and present, and the significance of her childhood on her adult life was very clear (if not a bit in-your-face). In fact, aside from a couple heavy-handed “clues,” this story was well-written and delivered. As a teacher myself, I could relate to some of the school politics and teacher-student relationships-- with the exception of that between Della and Zoey, of course!

Overall, a quick, fun and suspenseful read.
