An exciting and gripping story will keep you occupied for another few days in lockdown. Some of the twists were predictable but this can be excused as it is a fantastic read.

A gripping tale. I couldn’t read it fast enough. Lots of twists and curve balls. Highly recommended xx

Great book.
I have loved this one and been unable to put this one down. I have loved it. Can’t wait to recommend this one.

This book was only average for me, for reasons I will get to.
First, the positives: I really loved the relationship between Luke and Nina and how he connected with her in the orphanage. I also enjoyed the rather sinister atmosphere of rich landowner families having a subtle or not-so-subtle hand in everything that happens and making any problems disappear. (I felt that more could have been done with that aspect of the story; in the end it was almost incidental to the main plot.)
What didn't work for me:
– Absolutely none of the twists were a surprise to me. I saw them all coming. In that respect I found the book rather obvious.
– The red herrings were clunky, because they sought to mislead readers about a person whilst being in that person's POV. It felt too much like an authorial cheat, the way things were deliberately described in an oblique way that isn't how people would naturally think about things.
– The funeral fakeout is one of my least favourite techniques and I've seen it used in several books recently. It never fools me; it always irritates me.
– Everything just seemed to get resolved too easily at the end. (Having said that, I did like the very final lines …)
So overall, it didn't quite work for me. Others may have a different experience!

I really enjoyed this book. Lots of detail put into the story & relatable characters. I guessed part of the twist at the end but not the full extent, that’s part of the fun! Well written and easy to read. Thank you for my preview.

Guilty by Siobhan MacDonald was a great read. Luke was an incredibly frustrating character in acquiescing to so much of Allison’s manipulations. The story of Nina’s adoption was interesting and the connection between her and Luke was well conveyed. The emerging story of Luke’s internal struggle kept pace nicely and there were a few wee twists and turns along the way. Fran was definitely a character I’d love to meet. She was great! I also loved the red herring of the extra curricular practices....don’t want to spoil that by saying any more here, but it was nicely done. Did anyone else worry about that stew ......
Overall I throughly enjoyed the book. Maybe a little neat in tying up the loose ends but hey ho...who doesn’t like a satisfactory ending.

Wow what a story. I could feel myself tending up after each chapter not knowing what the next chapter would bring. Something happened a while back involving Luke and his wife fast forward to the present day, after discovering horrific messages does someone know what husband and wife did all those years ago. But do they know the real story? The last few chapters I literally couldn't put down and then the ending left me ice cold. Absolutely brilliant read. I would recommend to everyone.

A perfect psychological thriller.
Doctor Luke Forde has the perfect life. A respected heart surgeon, he has a rewarding job, a successful wife, and a daughter, Nina. From their beautiful house overlooking Carberry Lough in County Clare, they present a portrait of family bliss. But over the course of a weekend, Luke's life
It begins with the word 'GUILTY' painted on his boathouse one morning. Then he spots a chilling notice in the local newspaper. When this is followed by the delivery of a small coffin-shaped package, Luke is terrified. Someone knows the dark secret he is hiding. And someone is out to get him. spirals into chaos. Someone is guilty and he will pay.
This psychological thriller is perfect. Although the concept is not new but it's writing is flawless. I kept reading it without taking break.
Thanks to NetGalley and Little Brown Book UK for giving me an advance copy.

A quick read and an enjoyable one. I liked how each snippet with Terence was then followed by par of Luke's history that he had been referring to.
Enjoyed the twists at the end too!
