I'm excited to be back on Bay Island with Cass, Bee, Stephanie, Tank and Luke.

Cass's mystical talents are hitting an all time high - she hears voices of the departed constantly. The voices bombard her as she tries to run her business and go about her normal routine. When she hears about the haunting of the Bay Island lighthouse, she can decipher if the voices are warning her about the lighthouse or something else. Then, one of the local lighthouse keepers falls to his death out of one of the lighthouse windows. Cass now isn't sure if his death was accidental or on purpose, or rooted in the mundane or the mystical. Either way, Cass finds herself right in the middle of the investigation. The victim was not faultless and the author gives the reader plenty of means, motives, and opportunities to figure out along the way.

Grave Consequences is another fabulous book in the Bay Island Psychic series. I feel like Cass, Bee, and Stephanie are friends and I enjoy their characters, actions, and antics. Their dynamics create a warm and emotional friendship, where they all have each other's backs and best interested at heart. Cass is a very down-to-earth character and has been likable from the beginning of the series. I find her easy to connect to, whether you believe in her abilities or not. Stephanie and Bee are excellent sidekicks, always there for her and supportive.

I enjoy the flow of the story, the just right pacing, and the smooth conversational dialogue between everyone. As with all of the books in the Bay Island Psychic series, I find myself totally immersed in the plot, the characters, and the setting. I visualize the story and find myself wanting to tag along with Cass, Bee, and Stephanie on their many adventures.

I may have been provided an ebook of this series to review but I will be buying a paperback for my bookshelf.

Cass Donovan uses her psychic abilities to give readings at her Bay Island boardwalk shop she calls Mystical Musings. Although she's always been aware of her intuition, she has comfortably grown with her psychic powers until she witnesses Fred soaring from an upper window in the lighthouse to the rocky shore below. He was a randy character, known for womanizing. It's disconcerting that when Cass tries to relax and "open" her psychic gate, she is now flooded with voices of the departed all vying for her attention and she'll get no info from the dear and newly-departed Fred though there are others who think she might have.

As the well-plotted and paced cozy mystery proceeds to unfold, Cass is introduced to Simone Carlson who appears to have the same abilities--and more. Cass is hoping she can teach her to block all but the specific voice she wants to hear. Obviously, she has more to learn.

In the meantime, her two main support characters have her back and about every waking moment. Greatly devoted to Cass is Bee, though every time I saw his name, thought of a woman. Stephanie is a married friend who is aware, as is Bee, of Cass's psychic abilities. Cass has a puppy, a Leonberger, who has grown into his paws and is still in training lending more than one audible hoot.

This narrative punched my buttons for setting descriptions, quirky characters, twists and red herrings, talented and independent (mostly) main character, and even a wet dog with fur full of sand--sure to add a chuckle--especially if you've ever been there. The conclusion pulls all loose threads together and drops a couple hints of what you might find in Book 6.

I received this digital download from the publisher for the book tour and greatly appreciate the opportunity to read and review. Recommended to those who enjoy an entertaining and immersive cozy mystery.

GRAVE CONSEQUENCES by Lena Gregory
The Fifth Bay Island Psychic Mystery

Cass Donovan and her friends, Bee and Stephanie, decide to have a day of fun and visit the island's lighthouse. It seems that Fred, the lighthouse keeper has decided to add ghost tours, citing an old legend of the tragic romance between a local girl and a pirate. Bee starts to get treasure fever and Cass wonders if Mystical Musings could become a stop on the tour. As the trio gazes at the scenic view, Cass sees Fred fall from the third floor window. She also sees a shadow. Was that the shadow of a spirit...or a murderer? With her mediumship abilities growing, Cass tries to cope with the barrage of voices and make sense of what they're saying. Can she make contact with Fred? Or will she just make herself the target for a very human killer?

GRAVE CONSEQUENCES is a story of friendship. The deep bond between Cass and Bee is evidenced by all that they do for each other. Even though each can get annoyed with the other, they are always there for each other and would give everything to help the other person, no matter what. Such friendships are rare and should be cherished.

This fifth Bay Island Psychic Mystery is emotional. Watching Cass suffer as she tries to get a handle on her new abilities, her inability to understand messages received, and fear for her friends keep the tension high. New characters, including a possible mentor for Cass, along with a tragic ghost story provide intriguing new storylines. Filled with lots of twists and turns GRAVE CONSEQUENCES keeps readers guessing.

Although this is a more somber mystery, laughs and humorous scenes serve to lighten it. I especially love how Beast raises the vibe of every scene he's in. GRAVE CONSEQUENCES is a compelling mystery that kept me engrossed from start to finish.

This well written mystery has a bit of everything, ghost, psychic, murder, and lost treasure. A fun paranomal series and this is a great addition to it.

I received an arc of this book from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
So I almost didn't request this book because its book 5 in a series and I havent read any of the others. But it sounded so good I decided to take a chance that I wouldn't be lost..
I am so glad that I did, this was a great book, and now I definitely want to check out the first 4 books..
All of the characters are funny and just all around great.. I think besides Cass my favorite character was Bee. He seems like a great friend, and also a huge gossip. able to ferret out information before any one else. I also loved Stephanie and Tank and of couse Cass' dog Beast..
So in this book we have Cass whose psychic powers seemed to have grown, and now she is hearing so many ghostly voices that she is having trouble seperating them to listen more closely..
While doing a reading for her friend Stephanie to help her figure out when a baby might be coming her way to adopt, she gets some ghostly voices talking about the lighthouse.. When they arrive after looking around they see a guy falling from one of the lighthouse windows.. They also find out that there might be a buried treasure somewhere near the lighthouse that was buried there a really long time ago..
Cass is trying to contact the guys ghost that just died, while her and her friends are also trying to figure out who killed him and how to find the treasure..

This was my first in the Bay Island Psychic Mystery but it certainly won’t be the last. I’ll be looking for the previous books and awaiting the next. Despite not having read the previous books, I was able to discern the relationships among the characters and at least identify the sub-plots if not understand them completely. I really liked the way Cassie’s struggles with her expanding psychic gifts was handled by the author. While I would suggest that a new reader begin with the first of the series, there was plenty of back story information to keep the reader informed and interested. Try this cozy series, you’ll be glad you did.

Grave Consequences by Lena Gregory is the 5th book in the Bay Island Psychic Mystery series, and my second book in this series. Dead people talk to Cass Donovan, but unfortunately they all talk to her at once and she is struggling to control it. Cass hears one voice call out about the lighthouse over and over, so her and her friends go there. Next thing Cass knows, she sees a body falling out of the lighthouse, and a shadow in the window he fell out of. Cass is determined to find the truth. What a fun series, I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I'm always excited to find a new series to read, and I really enjoyed this one. This book has a well thought out plot and characters, along with plenty of twists and turns. I recommend this book for cozy mystery book fans, and this one has a psychic twist.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Oh, what a great book and a mystery !! I keep getting them !! It's full of intrigue and mystery as you follow the twists and turns throughout the story. The relationships are well-done and the characters are wonderful. I'm eager for the next book. I highly recommend both the book and series which I suggest you read in order. The book has several sub-plots, like Stephanie and her husband’s attempts to adopt a child, a new woman in town who seems able to calm the voices in Cassie’s head, and a search for pirate treasure that may or may not exist. There’s plenty to keep Cassie and the reader busy.
The author does a good job of clearly writing each character and setting the place and the scene. The perspective of a psychic who struggles with their gifts is an interesting one and lends a unique perspective to the story. One thing I struggled with, having no previous experience with the series, is the depiction of Bee. He’s written as a stereotypical ‘gay male’ to me. I don’t know if he is or not but the descriptions of his clothes, his efforts to be the town gossip, etc, really didn’t read well to me. I didn’t like the character which put me off the story, particularly because he is in so much of it.

Lena Gregory is such a great writer! Do yourself a favor and pick up her book. Book 5 in the Bay Island Psychic Mystery series and Cass Donovan is trying to figure out how to deal with all the other worldly voices in her head trying to get her attention. When visiting the lighthouse the see one of the owners fall to his death. Cass feels this was no accident and is trying to figure out who did it and hopefully it won't get her killed in the process.

I highly recommend this book and this series for all cozy mystery lovers. If you have never read a cozy mystery then this is a great writer to start with. I can't wait for the next book in the series and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Synopsis:

Cass Donovan is reminded that you can’t believe everything you hear, especially when it comes from the dead . . .

When stories begin circulating of a centuries-old ghost haunting the Bay Island lighthouse, Cass is caught up in mystical happenings of her own, with countless voices from the beyond all clamoring for her attention with dire warnings. But before she has a chance to learn whether there’s a connection between the rumored ghost and her restless visitors, the lighthouse keeper mysteriously falls to his death, and Cass’s reputation for communing with the dead lands her right in the middle of the police investigation.

Cass knows the victim was no saint, as he made little effort to hide his philandering ways from his wife or anyone else, and often acted out with no thought for the feelings of others. But had he finally gone too far, or were there more menacing motives behind his murder? As Cass begins building a list of suspects, including the man’s supposedly grieving wife and a mysterious new woman in town, she also turns her ear to those otherworldly voices, hoping for a clue. And as she begins to close in on the culprit, she realizes too late that if she’s not careful, she’ll soon be communicating with the dead in person . . (Goodreads)

Review:

The characters are well developed and well rounded. I really like the friendship between Cass, Bee and Stephanie. They are such good friends and would do anything for each other. And I really like how dramatic Bee can be, he makes me laugh. The secondary characters in the book add a lot to the story.

The writing style flows smoothly and it defines the characters very clearly through their actions and words. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions pulled me into the story from the very beginning. I enjoyed the paranormal aspect of this book, and thought that Cass being able to communicate with the dead made it even more interesting. The mystery was well plotted and had enough clues to sift through and suspects to consider. The ending was very climatic and nerve racking.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. And if you like paranormal cozy, give this book a try.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, Beyond The Page Publishing, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.

This is the 5th installment of the Bay Island Psychic series. Cass Donovan a psychiatrist who moved back to her home on Bay Island running a psychic shop. She is getting messages from the other side but they are not exactly clear. Rumors of a ghost at the lighthouse as well as pirate treasure circulating makes her wonder if that is what her warnings are about. The lighthouse keeper falls to his death and Cass is convinced it is murder. There are lots of suspects as the lighthouse keeper and tour operator has not been a faithful husband and was not a really great person. This an entertaining paranormal mystery. Cass is surrounded by her friends Bee and Stephanie and the ending is really touching. Good series.

I received this ARC via Netgalley and Beyond the Page Publishing, in return for an honest review. While this is the fifth book in this series, it can be read as a standalone and is my first reading of the Bay Island Psychic Mystery series. Cass can hear voices of the dead. She runs a shop in a small coastal town, providing readings and select gifts such as candles, jewelry and other interesting things.
In this book, the voices in Cass’s head have reached a cacophony and she can’t decipher one from another. Aside from the impact on her business, it affects her ability to discern warnings from beyond. In this case, she goes to the local lighthouse with her two best friends, Bee and Stephanie. While there, she witnesses a local tour guide fall to his death. What isn’t clear is whether a shadow in the window is a living person or a dead one. Since the victim is not well liked because of his running around on his wife and general demeanor, it’s difficult to work up her sympathy for him. Still, she believes that her gifts are given to her for a purpose and she tries to help the local police solve the murder.
A truly mystical mystery! The characters are really hitting their stride which makes the mystery that much more enjoyable. Flirting with the past to solve a murder in the present, this mystery is perfect from start to finish.

Cass should be used to hearing odd voices in her head, but when one voice keeps repeating certain words, Cass is worried that another tragic death is about to happen.
Searching for clues and listening to her inner voices has helped in the past, so before she can really understand, a dead body turns up and Cass has to help.

This is a cute series and I enjoy the characters and their interactions.

Building upon previous books in this series, you can red this as a stand alone but it will be best appreciated if you have some exposure to Cass, Bee and Stephanie. Trust me, you will love the previous books in this series. Author Lena Gregory has created one of my favorite series.
Beast adds some needed lightness to the dark topics covered.
Cass can't control the voices in her head. She can not help them all and can't help the most important ones if they all speak at once! Plus, she knows there is something important someone is trying to message to Cass regarding her best friend Stephanie.
It helps to know tha Stephanie and husband, Tank, a police officer, have been trying to adopt a baby. They are turned down because the birth mother is afraid Tank's job has the potential to leave Stephanie a young widow and single mother. Stephanie is heartbroken.
Meanwhile, there is a new ghost tour business in town. Could this mean another source on income for Cass? There is something strange about the woman running the tour company, a woman whose husband disappeared under suspicious circumstances. She has psychic abilities of her own and has ties to Amanda, from the local lighthouse.
Speaking of the lighthouse, is there really a treasure hidden there, from pirates long ago?
True or not, someone seems to be haunting the shoreline. Cass, Bee and Stephanie are in the wrong place at the right time as the lighthouse keeper, Fred, falls to his death upon the rocks.

Filled with tension and swirling emotions, this episode of the series will keep you on the edge of your seat. Not all mysteries and problems can or will be solved within these covers!

This is the 5th book in the series. Although, it's not terribly confusing, I did struggle through the first part of the book, not the author's fault. I had no background on Cass, Bee or Stephanie, making it difficult for me to connect with the characters immediately. Despite that, I thought the story was good.

Cass Donovan, the owner of Mystical Musings on the boardwalk, has psychic abilities. So, not only do people stop to browse her shop, but they also ask for a reading.

Cass has two best friends, Bee Maxwell and Stephanie Lawrence. Cass had been trying to do readings for Stephanie to answer the question of when will Stephanie and her husband, Tank, become parents.

From one reading with Stephanie, there is a push for, Cass and her friends go to the Bay Island Lighthouse, where they learn about the new ghost tours given by the owner/keeper now. It is here that they hear about the death of the lighthouse keeper from the late seventeen hundreds, and a rumor of a buried treasure. Cass is assaulted with voices and suddenly realizes that she is being warned away from the lighthouse. Before any of them could make a move, they witness someone tumble out of a window, and Cass swears she sees a shadow move back, but she's not sure if the vision is real.

Due to Cass's reputation, rumors start that Cass spoke to the deceased and knows who the killer is. Now, Cass needs to figure out who the killer is before the rumors send the killer to her.

I loved the paranormal parts in this book, and also, the friendships between Bee and Stephanie. I'm not one to try to figure out the mystery, but let the book unfold and tell the story. I was surprised, and the ending made me cry.

I received an ARC from NetGalley via Beyond the Page Publishing and I have voluntarily reviewed this book.

The characters in Lena Gregory's A Bay Island Psychic Mystery series are delightful. The paranormal aspects of the series are not a genre I usually appreciate, but 'Grave Consequences' makes the best of the qualities of Cass, Bee and Stephanie. There is loyalty, affection and a sincere commitment to help each other. I was surprised by the ending, and there is a great set-up for more. I look forward to it!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions express in this review are entirely my own.

Cosy mystery mixed up with some psychic abilities of the main protagonist, Cass. The rather unpleasant lighthouse keeper falls to his death which turns out to be murder of course. Cass and her friends Bee and Stephanie set out to discover the truth so we have murder, mystery, ghosts, pirate treasure with which to content not taking into account the massive dog she has but really should train a bit better! Cass has some psychic abilities and hears a lot of jumbled voices but needs to try to train herself to isolate one from the others in order to move forward. She also gives psychic reading which, I felt, left a lot to be desired -essentially she seemed to ooze empathy and was a good listener. A pleasant way to spend a few hours. Thanks to NetGalley and Beyond the Page Publishing for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

In Grave Consequences, Cass hears the voices of the dead. A lot of them...making such a cacophony that she can't understand what they want. Finally, while visiting her town's lighthouse with friends, she hears a clear message, "Stay away from the lighthouse." Immediately afterwards she sees a man fall from a window to his death. Just like the first lighthouse keeper, Samuel, had died in the late seventeen hundreds. Was Samuel warning her? What or who was the mysterious silhouette she saw in the same window a second later? Could Cass use her gift to find the killer? Or can Cass and her friends, Bee and Stephanie, investigate in a more traditional manner?

With at least one ghost, a psychic, a murderer and a lost treasure, this book has something for everyone. In addition, there are genuine characters that you quickly care about. It also has a sweet romance between Cass and the handsome Detective Luke. And don't forget Cass' giant Leonberger dog, Beast. The murderer was a bit too easy to discover. But that allowed me the freedom to enjoy the populace of Bay Island all the more. If you love character-driven cozies, you will enjoy visiting Bay Island for a few hours. 4 stars!
