This book was not what I expected at all! I kept waiting for something to happen that was super secret with Ace the house guest, but things took a very different turn! The ending was excellent and the plot twists were totally unexpected! This was the first of Cathryn Grant's books I've read. It was an advanced copy from NetGalley.

This twisty psychological thriller had me guessing the whole time. Cathryn Grant does a fantastic job of making everyone seem suspect. I didn't know who to believe. I was turning the pages so quickly to find out who the villain was and the ending was great!

I loved the premise for this one.
For the first half of the book we have two questions; Who is Ace? Who killed Jessica? We're left wondering how this seemingly normal family is connected to everything that is going on.
The ending went in a completely new direction, hitting us with twist after twist. I certainly didn't see that ending coming.
I enjoyed this one.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this.

This was a fun, quick read that I really enjoyed. I did NOT see the ending coming! The last few chapters shocked me. I can’t wait to read more books by Cathryn Grant.

Having loved most of Cathryn Grants earlier books I was excited to receive the new novel for review. I stopped halfway through as I was dismayed that it seemed as nothing was really happening and I did t care for any of the characters. I picked it back up yesterday as I had made the commitment and the last quarter of the book picked up stream and I didn’t see the big twist coming at all. So starts out so slowly but ends with a bang. Three stars then.

Really enjoyed this, kept me gripped from the start with plenty of twists and turns along the way. It stands out from the recent high volume of psychological thrillers. High recommend.

Catheters Grant is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. In this suspenseful read Ellie and Seth seem to have the perfect marriage. At least until one of the girls in their neighborhood is found murdered. Add an unexpected house guest who is not what he seems and this novel is off and running. Through a series of twists and turns you are kept guessing about who really murdered Jasmine and what will happen next.

Thank you NetGalley, Cathryn Grant and Inkubator Books for this edition and hearing my honest review. Looking forward to reading more with you

Talk about a twisty plot! Wow! This one had me guessing and I remained shocked until the very end. An unhappy marriage, two children, and a house guest that the husband invites to stay lead to very interesting situations.
A teenager bully in the neighborhood ends up dead raising the tensions, The plot moves quickly. At some times it is not as "believable" as others, but it still all comes together in the end with a big twist I did not see coming. Overall, a solid, ,decent thriller read that would be perfect for summer beach time.

A twist i never saw coming. It jumps right into the story of this woman’s works seemingly slipping from her, with a murder that somehow is connected to her son and the guest you don’t know if you can trust. But you’ll never guess just how the book ends, but then does a mother’s love Ever end?

I received this copy via NetGalley in return for my honest review.

As I stated above this copy was given to me by NetGalley it’s also my very first book I reviewed for them so I was extremely excited to read The Guest. Excited the point of doing cartwheels in my backyard..lol not really but pretty excited still! Unfortunately this book was not for me. The book seems to be about one matter but goes in a completely different direction. Which is all good, it’s what a twist is about but it’s the way it’s delivered I didn’t like.
The whole story moved pretty slow, it had a lot of mundane things thrown in that really could have been cut but then it would be a Novella I’m guessing.
And none of the characters had depth, their personalities were very lacking.
I do have to say I didn’t see the ending coming until the book was almost done, and it was pretty shocking especially with some of the characters moral compasses being what they are.

I think part of me was expecting an A+ book my for my first NetGalley experience but this definitely may appeal to other readers who enjoy mystery/suspense genres who like a slow build and a big pow at the end.

I would recommend this story to all thriller lovers .This book took me by surprise. It kept me interested throughout the story and I needed to see what was going to happen. I truly enjoyed the pacing of the story and the well-written characters.

After spending some time getting into this book over several sittings I managed to get into it pretty much as the book ended. Not sure how I feel about this novel - although I felt the characters were good, the storyline didn’t knit together enough for me for it to be believable.

Following the death of a classmate, Brandon is taken in for questioning - his mum, a gallery owner, goes into protection mode over him. Around the same time Brandon’s step-father moves in a friend of his cousin’s without discussing it with his mum. Over the course of the story a few events occur and their new house guest gets put in the frame for it but is it someone closer to home to be more concerned about?

For me this didn’t quite hit the spot - the storyline needs a bit more work.

Really good read. Would recommend to friends and family. I could sympathise with characters (important for any fiction novel!) and looked forward to picking it up and reading the next few chapters! Interesting plot line and a good ending. Will look out for more novels by the author. Thank you.

Definitely worth reading!!! It started out a little slow and I have to say the ending was definitely the best part of the book!!! I had no clue at all where this was going to go but kept on reading all night because i had to find out!!!!
Sometimes things just aren't what they seem to be. You won't be disappointed as this is a book that you won't put down until you're finished.

This book had a lot going for it. The main character and her husband seemed to get along well. Then, he brings a good looking stranger home to stay indefinitely. His wife is very attracted to Ace, the stranger. Without giving anything away, heads up! An absolutely unexpected last part of the book!
