WTH I just read! Breathe in, breathe out! Ob boy, my heart is beating too fast! It can explode any second!

For the love of all time best thriller novels, what a fantastic, soul crushing story I just finished! It is one of a kind: Blood freezing, gripping, nail biting, hair splitter, mind blowing!

Especially that sinister ending, those big bombs the author left on our laps which are exploded right into my face! Wowww! I need a strong drink! A chilled Chardonnay cannot fix the damage the book has done to my poor grey cells! They are liked fried green okras!

I’ll give a short summary of the story: Natalie Bryers, in her mid forties, living all alone at the farm she’s inherited from her family, working at Kmart, living aimlessly after the great tragedy more than three decades ago ruined their family!

When she was only nine, she has seen the corpse of Jenny who was only 14 found at their backyard of family house. The violent media, prying and gossiping town’s people pointed their fingers at by blaming them as perpetrators!

Then a girl comes from wrong side of town and dysfunctional family confesses the crime. Her name is Chrissy Cornwall and she was only 14! But how a girl who is just 14 can be the perpetrator of a vicious, gory, bloody murder! She told the officers it’s a crime of passion: both girl liked the same boy and one of them has to go. Could it be so simple to take another person’s life even though you’re under age and a scared child!

Now Chrissy is middle aged woman, recently released from the prison wants to talk with Natalie: actually she wants her write a book about the murder with new information she will provide. Ding ding she says she is innocent!

And Natalie who never used her writing skills and degree sees it as an opportunity for closure about the tragedy ruined her family. Her father is already passed away and her mother left them without contacting for years and her dearest brother Jack committed suicide. She’s all alone and this case has been haunting her for decades because deep down she knows Chrissy might tell her the truth and reality can be more devastating that she can ever imagine!

She will wish she never wrote to Chrissy to contact with her and start this mayhem she gets herself into. But she already started the fire and she’d better prepare herself to burn to the ground!

Breathing, excellently riveting page turner I highly recommend which earns well deserved, blazing, dark, claustrophobic, mind numbing five stars!

I’m so happy this book put this brilliant author on my radar. I’m looking forward to read more works of her.

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. Once again, Carissa has hit this out of the park! Her books are not extremely long either with helps to keep my focus. The suspense was amazing! Just when I thought this person was really the killer, i see something to lead me to someone else. BUT I never ever saw the ending coming. Jaw dropped! Great thriller!!
