Claudia has escaped to the beautiful Cornish seaside village of Porthsteren after a difficult divorce in the hope of a new, happier life and opens a spiritual new age shop along the beach front. Jason, a widower, has also relocated for a fresh start with his teenage daughter Millie. He is hoping this is the change they both need after a difficult year and that Millie will feel happier in her new hometown.

When Millie finds solace in the healing crystals and oracle cards from Claudia’s shop it starts a difficult relationship between Jason and Claudia. Jason doesn’t believe in the new age approach to life, and he wants Millie to be able to grieve in her own way without Claudia interfering and he thinks she is trying to make a profit from her.

However when a new mystery shop is set to open along the seafront that is the same style as Claudia’s it causes issues to Claudia's now perfect life.

This was a delightful, charming beach read, I devoured it on a sunny day and it was like being transported to Cornwall, I could almost hear the waves crashing next to me! I sympathised with Claudia and her frustrations and was able to relate to her character. I enjoyed the unexpected twists of this book and Claudia and Jason’s up and down relationship and was pleased there was an air of mystery from the start which enticed me to read more and more.

Claudia and Jason had me loving this book!! It is a brilliant easy read with moments where you think you know where it's going and then it twists and turns onto another direction! Definitely give this one a read!

After a painful divorce Claudia moved from London to Cornwall and set up shop on the coast. With views of the harbour and sea, to a book and coffee shop as neighbours what more could she need.

The arrival of Jason and his daughter Millie could definitely stir things up in the coastal town but that’s not even the icing on the cake. Anxiety’s rise with the news that a new shop is coming to town but what will it be?

This book isn’t your run of the mill love story, instead there’s plot twists here and there which keep you on your toes. Just as you think you know what’s going to happen the story line takes you off in a completely different direction. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who's looking for a light hearted, easy going read. It also really really made me want to go and visit the seaside!

After finishing it in just a few days the ending seemed to come too soon. I’d love for there to be a sequel to this - I always want to know what happens to characters when a book finishes though! Feels like this part of the story may have finished but there’s many more chapters that could still unfold!

I'll definitely be checking out more of Helen's books and you should to!

A great feel good story. I loved it. . It was a lovely setting . I loved the disscription of the coast and the drawing of pictures on the beach to wash away your troubles. The author had done her research on crystals. The love element was brilliant. It made you think about how not to gosip

A beautiful coastal setting, strong characters, a bit of mystery and romance, mix them together and you have a very enjoyable book.

Claudia has settled into her new life in Cornwall after her divorce and is running a 'new age' shop successfully. It is very different to the work she did in `London but she loves the shop and the courses she runs. Her life turns upside down when Jason and his daughter Millie move into the village. Millie loves the shop and finds a friend and a listening ear in Claudia, unfortunately Jason hates this kind of shop, which leads to quite a few arguments.

When a new shop opens in the village selling very similar stock to Claudia it causes a few problems for her and although Claudia and Jason don't see eye to eye he is always around to help.

A book I am happy to recommend

Calling all "Hate to Love" trope lovers! Pollard's "The Little Shop in Cornwall" perfectly fits the bill for you.

Claudia is a thirty-something that decides to leave her husband and London lifestyle to start her life over in a little coastal village in Cornwall. She opens a "New Age" boutique and soon becomes one of the locals. Her life is seemingly perfect--until recently widowed Jason and his teenage daughter Millie move into town. Millie is instantly drawn to Claudia's lifestyle and shop, while Jason vehemently despises it. If you know anything about the "hate to love" trope, I'm sure you can guess the direction this will take, but Pollard also weaves mystery into the plot which I rather enjoyed.

While I could not relate to Claudia nor Jason, which is normally the hallmark of a 5 star read for me, I still felt invested in their journey toward each other. I would recommend this romance novel to anyone who wants a light, low on the steaminess factor, fun read.

In this delightful novel, Claudia and Jason both relocate to a very small Cornish village to start over after life took bad turns for them elsewhere. Claudia has lived there for a couple of years and opened a successful New Age sort of gift shop. Jason dislikes all the New Agey crystals and advice that Claudia finds so comforting, but his grieving daughter, Millie, is interested and likes Claudia. So Jason is torn between what his mind tells him about Claudia’s shop, but he also is happy to see his daughter find a woman who can help her. And it helps that Claudia is quite attractive.

Throw in a best friend who is a wiccan and a competing shop selling witchy accessories and the plot indeed thickens.

This was a very enjoyable read. I would have liked to know how the competition between Claudia’s store and the interloping new store turned out, but I really enjoyed traveling along with Jason and Claudia’s emotional journey.

Claudia ends her relationship with her husband and opens up her business in Cornwall near the beach.

When Jason and his daughter move near her, it doesn’t take long for the gossips to start speculating.
His daughter is a bit quiet and when she and her faith we come into Claudia’s shop, it’s clear he’s not keen on the stuff she sells.
Slowly Claudia starts to get his daughter to open up about her feelings and gets to know her dad too.
Then a new shop is opening up and everyone wants to know what it’s going to be. But when it’ sells the same kind of items that Claudia does, she’s not happy and confides in her friends about how she feels, when suddenly it gets back to the new shop owners and again people start talking about her not being welcoming.
Matters get out of hand and her relationship with Jason is also on an up and down keel. She feels fed up of having to start from scratch every time, and thinks that the new owners are behind the happenings to her shop.
Her friends try to cheer her up, but doesn’t see things their way.
Jason tries to help but when his daughter goes missing, things hit a bump between them.
It becomes clear that it’s not who she thought that were harming her business. But someone who she wasn’t expecting.
Recommend it.
