I am really enjoying this series which includes stories about Native Americans and their different tribal customs and beliefs. I have purchased the next in the series.
The titles relate the physical ground. In that some places are sacred or may have unexpected anomalies weather or atmosphere or...
There is some crime and some police work, but the Reservations have their own tribal police whose methods may not follow standard police rules and regulations, because of their unique position in the community.
We read about Shamans, and ceremonies which are related to their sacred soil and ground.
Overall, well written and nice style.

i really enjoyed this western romance, it had what I enjoyed from the first book and improved in this book. I look forward to more in this series.

Noah Pacheco is a Tribal Liaison and is called by the Chief of Hidden Springs to investigate strange happenings on the reserve. When Noah starts to investigate, he witnesses a stampede that claims the life of a young man. He also runs into a beautiful woman that night who looks like she might be involved in the incident. Noah quickly calls in reinforcements and his friend Gage who grew up on the reserve and is also the son of the Chief comes home to help.

Fallon Youngblood is the beautiful daughter of the chief and she also wants to become the next leader of the tribe. When she meets Noah, she has mixed emotions. Can he really help find out what is happening on the reserve?

As the story progresses, it looks like someone is trying to frame Fallon for the incidents happening on the reserve. She goes from being a suspect in the crimes, to being a target. Can Noah and Gage find the person responsible before Fallon gets hurt?

I really liked this novel and the background on the Native tribe involved. The customs and traditions were very interesting. This book was very different from the first book in the series, and it honestly took me awhile to get engaged in the story, but when I did, I really enjoyed it. I was hoping to read about the characters from the first book On Common ground and I thought it would be a continuation of the ranch and it’s story, so this story line was a complete surprise but a good one. Even though it is the second book, it can be read as a stand alone novel.

This tale was filled with conflict, loyalty and suspense. I was impressed that the complex plot was steeped with respect for the traditions of the Apache People, I never had a chance to read the first book, and I think that might have allowed me to give this book a higher rating, but that's on me. The book is well written, the characters were multi-faceted and felt real. Overall this plot was refreshingly different and a great breath of fresh air!

Fallon Youngblood is half Native American and half Irish beside being a spiritual advisor for the Apache tribe. The sacred land on the reservation is having holes dug in it as college students are looking for treasure. Fallon has finished making a medicine wheel to heal the land. As she finishes the ritual, she sees a stampede of wild horses coming towards her which she barely escapes.. Meanwhile there is another witness to he stampede of wild horses. He is Noah Pacheco, a Tribal Liaison that works with he District Attorney General’s Office. When he sees Fallon, he wonders if she caused the stampede besides thinking that she is the most beautiful woman, he has ever seen. A college student has been killed by the stampede of the wild horses which causes a homicide investigation. Noah find evidence that implies that Fallon is guilty of it. Is someone setting up Fallon to get rid of her? Noah is attracted to her in spite of it. Fallon is running to be on the tribal council. This isn’t what someone wants her to get the position to be the tribal leader. Who is it? Why?

The author has written an excellent Native American suspenseful mystery with romance. It includes modern Native American rituals and culture which fascinated me. It also goes into family relationships. It is suspenseful and surprising. Even though it is book 2 of a series, it can be read without needing to read the first one as there is no overlapping of the stories.

A great story of Noah and Fallon. She is trying to improve women's rights on the reservation, he is the BIA liaison. Sparks fly when they meet, and a good story of modern and ancient beliefs. Hard to put this one down, just wish it was a little shorter. Highly recommend this book and author.

I read this book immediately after the first book (On Common Ground). This book revolves around Noah, Trevor's police partner from book #1. While I liked this book, I was disappointed that it did not ever mention Trevor or Ketra - I was hoping to hear more of their story.

I have to admit that I felt lost during the first 15% of this book - it centers around an Indian reservation and it mentions many traditions that I am unfamiliar with. I assumed this book would be more of a romance (like book 1 was), but this had a more "mystery" slant to it. Once I became more comfortable with the native American jargon and resigned myself to the fact that I was reading a mystery, I enjoyed the book. Noah and Grace (the native American heroine) are both very likable people. But poor Grace has it hard - she was the victim of "attempted murder" several times and Noah along with her brother, Gage, were kept busy trying to keep her safe.

I understand there will be a book 3 centered around Gage. I'm sure I will read it, but I'd really like to get back to the ranch and learn more stories about the cowboys. :)

An amazing look at a Native American community!

Noah is assigned to investigate mysterious vandalism incidents on the Hidden Springs Apache reservation, which quickly turns into a murder investigation. His interest in the beautiful, mystical Fallon is complicated by all the mounting evidence pointing to her as the prime suspect.

This story was a fascinating look at a modern native culture, filled with conflicting families, loyalty and betrayals, and enough suspense to keep me on the edge of my seat throughout. The complex plot was infused with abiding respect for the traditions and beliefs of the Apaches, yet never veered too far from its core focus on identifying and apprehending the criminals responsible. The timeline at the beginning was a little confusing to me, but it all gets sorted out as the story progresses.

Fallon and Noah are really a perfect match for each other in every way. Their romance builds slowly and is almost relegated to a secondary status, but their HEA at the end was solid and absolutely beautiful. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This book is quite refreshing in its concept of respecting mother earth, its inhabitants and preserving culture.

Noah and Fallon come across what appears to be an abnormal, but dangerous occurrence. Noah is suspicious due to the sequence of events that follows.

The blend of Native American culture, suspense, mystery and romance is well balanced. It's descriptive in every aspect and the characters are very well portrayed. There are a few typos, which do not interfere with the flow or content. I really enjoyed this story, and would like to know more about Gage and Quira.
