I regretfully did not finish this book. I thought the expression was peculiar and the descriptions about characters made me cringe.

Had to DNF due to formatting errors in the version I downloaded onto my Kindle. It was impossible to read and therefore I could not finish it.

This is just badly written nonsense. I wonder if the author has any friends who read the book and liked it.

I had high hopes for this book based on the description. I love a suspenseful crime novel but the formatting errors and predictability of certain aspects of the plot made it hard for me to get into. The characters seemed a bit cliche (the gruff crime reporter putting himself in danger for the scoop) and I didn't feel invested in them. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my copy

This book was a quick DNF for me. I think I made it to the introduction of the mob boss and I was cringing so hard at the writing that I couldn't continue. I just can't take it seriously after reading the words "my murder team"

I liked the idea of this book when I read the summary, hoping for something fast-paced and full of the gritty world of criminal organizations and the fallout of trying to take one on. While this book does deliver that, the writing itself falls a little flat. The dialogue didn’t appear natural and was stiff. The descriptions were usually too frank and lacked interest. The plot was okay, if predictable. The characters weren’t particularly memorable. There are many formatting errors that need to be fixed. Overall, this was just okay.

Harry Walsh is a reporter who has been following a series of murders perpetrated by Martin Nelson’s organised crime crew in Los Angeles.

After witnessing a murder, Harry becomes becomes the target of the group, falling deep into the murkiness of the criminal justice system.

The Crime Reporter is a fast paced novel that opens the door to the organised crime world, giving a detailed account of criminal activities in the city of Los Angeles.

The theme is rather dark and touches aspects such as the influence of money and getting away with murder (literally!)

A difficult to put down book that will keep you up all night!

Disclosure: I would like to thank NetGalley and BooksGoSocial Group for an ARC of The Crime Reporter by Stephen Knight. This is my honest review.

The Crime Reporter is a fast paced and very original novel, which pull the reader in to it's murky world on the first page and doesn't let them go until the last.

An organized crime novel, but not in the usual sense. Martin Nelson is the boss of a multi-million-dollar empire involved in every racket you can imagine, including murder crews. They choose down and out women as their targets, then kidnap, rape and murder them, all to keep the cops busy and away from Martin's real money makers. When reporter Harry Walsh, who has been following these cases all year, witnesses an actual murder, he is spotted by the crew members and is now a target himself. Some of the story seem a bit far-fetched, but it is fast moving and a little bit scary to think about what money can buy you. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.
