This is a retelling of Thelma and Louise.
This is a very slow burn of a novel.
This book has great characters and has a good plot.
A good book

Sadly this book just was not for me. This sat on my kindle for quite some time - twice I have attempted to read and twice I did not finish.

Thankyou for the opportunity but I will not be providing feedback on any commercial sites for this book.

I really enjoyed this contemporary spin on Thelma and Louise. I’ve read and enjoyed everything Suzanne has written.

Really liked this story! A story of 2 woman from different backgrounds. And what can happen when faced with a situation and how they handle it. This story had me on the edge of my seat.

Such a good book. Sometimes hard to read, thinking about what might happen next but overall it was worth it & I did enjoy the ending. Love how many issues this novel addressed too!

Meandered a bit but was a quick enough read. I liked how the themes were highlighted and how that manifested into growth and choices for Hadley. We see her change along the way for her safety and those she cares about, but it does take time and she still struggles. That felt authentic and at many times felt emotional. Grace had an interesting back story but didn’t feel as compelling as Hadley on the page. They worked well together through a push and pull dynamic and I loved how both challenge traditional notions.

I really enjoyed the characters and the writing style of Hadley and Grace. The surprise love interest and friendship was very entertaining and the added touches of humor really made the story.

This is a Contemporary/women's fiction that is a take on Thelma and Louise. I love the characters Hadley and Grace. They both have their own problems they are running from, but I feel the characters and their story is well written. I really love the Skipper character, and his character just touched my heart so much. I feel each character came to life which made this book so much fun to read. The storyline had you praying, crying, and sitting on the edge of your seat during reading this book. This book is fun at times, but it is very suspenseful at times. This is one of the take of books you do not want to put it down because you want to know how it ends, but on the other hand you also do not want the book to end. I cannot say how much I love this book. It had great characters and a great storyline/plot. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Lake Union Publishing) or author (Suzanne Redfearn) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

3.5 stars - Overall, I did enjoy the writing style, the various points of view, and the humor scattered throughout the novel. I'd definitely recommend this for anyone on a road trip and anyone that enjoys Thelma & Louise type stories. I can't really put my finger on what was missing from this book, but it was a little slower pace than I would have liked.

3.7 - a little too meandering/flimsy at times, but lots of action and intrigue to keep the pages turning

Hadley and Grace was a nice break from some heavier books I tend to gravitate towards. While it was fun going along for the ride with Hadley and Grace there was still substance to the book. I previously read In an Instant and was extremely invested emotionally whereas Hadley & Grace had a bit of humor to break it up. I was surprised to see this felt like it was a while different genre. Suzanne is quite a versatile author.

A relaxing read for the summer holidays. Emotionally charged and well worth picking up.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me access an advance copy of this book in exchange for my feedback.

The comparisons with Thelma and Louise are obvious but useful. I liked the swashbuckling sense of freedom, the great characters, and the setting and found it to live up to its comparison.

Reminiscent of Thelma & Louise, Hadley & Grace took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. Suzanne tackled heavy themes in a light way that made reading enjoyable.

I sincerely thank Suzanne for the opportunity to read this one early.

Because In An Instant was one of my favorite books last year, I was excited to read this. But I think it set the bar so high that initially I was a bit disappointed. They were such different stories, but I came to love the characters in this one.
Hadley is thirty eight years old, married to brutish husband Frank and has a teenage daughter Mattie.
Her nephew Skipper, with an IQ of 75 and a passion for baseball, lives with her too, after her irresponsible sister left him in her care.
Twenty eight year old Grace works for Frank. Her husband Jimmy is deployed in the Army, leaving her alone to care for their four month old son. His gambling problem has left her with virtually no money to survive.
She takes the job with Frank. When he stiffs her out of a commission that she is due, she decides to take matters into her own hands.
That same night, Hadley is determined to take the kids and finally leave her abusive situation.
Her plan puts her and Grace together, where they team up to get away.
This contemporary/family drama had a few too many coincidences for my taste, and didn't seem completely realistic. But I absolutely adored the characters in it, and I really cared what would happen to them.
They made it a delightful and entertaining read.
Thank you Lake Union Publishing for the e-ARC via NetGalley.

I'm a sucker for a good road trip story and Hadley and Grace more than delivers! There's emotion and drama and it shows women overcoming adversity to find friendship and love on the other side. Yes, it's been compared to Thelma & Louise and for good reason - if you loved that movie, read this book.
