The second book in a series about the Brown sisters, Talia Hibbert has proved that she is the queen of combining traditional rom-com with diversity in so many forms, and producing contemporary romance that is fun, steamy and a truly enjoyable, feel-good read.

I challenge anyone not to fall in love with both the main characters, Dani and Zaf, with all their quirks, and their chemistry really comes through in the story of their fake dating/friends to lovers romance. The supporting characters are also really well drawn, from Dani's sisters who we meet again, to Zaf's extended family. There is plenty of humour throughout the book, but it also manages to deal with some serious issues such as anxiety and grief. Be warned, it is quite steamy which may not be to everyone's taste - be prepared for lots of sex scenes!

Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

After reading Get a Life, Chloe Brown I couldn't wait to read the next book in the series. In this book we meet Dani and Zaf. What can I say?! I just loved their connection. From the fun and lively friendship to the chemistry that sizzles between the pair. I have to admit I do love the fake dating trope and this book sparkles with a fabulous combination of sweet and sizzling moments. There is also a wonderful depth to the story as the characters have both strong and vulnerable sides which results in making them so relatable! I really liked Dani but Zaf was brilliant. Just the fact he read romance books made him extra special and this all combines with his kind nature to show more than what his appearance might first project.

Take a Hint, Dani Brown was so easy to lose myself in and I loved the quirky but realistic characters that this book and series boasts. I have to say I also enjoyed the small appearances by Chloe and Red. It just added the icing to an already fabulous treat! Take a Hint, Dani Brown is romantic, fun and witty. This series just gets better and better. I cannot wait for book three!

Everytime I read a Talia Hibbert book I think to myself "This is my new favorite of hers", EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Every book is better than the next and Take a Hint Dani Brown is no different. This book gave me everything I wanted from the tropes, the characters, the writing, the chemistry, it was just amazing, groundbreaking, brilliant, show stopping... * chef's kiss*.

This book has Talia Hibbert's signature tone and writing...if you put the usual sarcasm and banter on steroids. This book is SO MUCH FUN, it has it all: the romance, the humor, the serious discussions, the smut. It had me in tears and cackling one second, in my feelings the next, and clutching my pearls right after that. I don't know if I said this before but I love when we get both (or all) perspectives in a romance so much more than getting just one, and Take a hint Dani Brown gives me exactly that. It's told in dual perspective, we get both Dani and Zafir, who are work friends at the beginning of the book. And it doesn't only give me that, it also gives me some of my favorite tropes, namely friends with benefits and fake dating. Like what's there not to love?

I adore Dani Brown. I think, no i'm sure, she's my new Talia Hibbert heroine. I would go as far as to say she's my favorite romance heroine. Period. She's dethroned Saadia from Wrong to Need You, whose been up there for two years. I'm not sure if I want to marry Dani or be her, but all I know is that I love her. She's Black, bisexual, fat, a professor and a witch who talks all proper but curses like a sailor. Her bite, sarcasm, confidence and bossiness are the best thing I've ever read. I really like how the author explored that women can be confident and still have insecurities through Dani going headfirst into all her life endeavors, with the exception of romance. Romance is her one weak spot.

Dani doesn't do romance. It gets in the way of her career and her non romantic relationships. But above all she's been burned before and is scared shitless of getting hurt again, she was told she's selfish and not good at romance so she believed it. Eventhough she gives without ever expecting anything in return, she never believes herself to enough, romantically. So she does no-strings attached and flees if strings start appearing. And that really struck a chord with me, which I think that mixed with the sarcasm is what made me love Dani so much. Furthermore, what I appreciated is that Aromanticism was casually brought up as a possibility for her for not wanting romantic relationships. And as an Aro-spec person, I really appreciated that addition. It was small but went a long way.

Then we have Zafir, a grumpy teddy bear who's a huge romance reader (YES! I LOVE HIM) who completely softens around Dani. He's a non-practicing Muslim and super close with his family, especially his niece. I loved the way his mental illnesses were explored and talked about. He's always dealt with anxiety, but after some tragic events, depression was added to his load and at the start of the book he's at a decent place in handling both, but the only way he knows how to do that is to separate himself from his past so this book might be about the romance, but we also get to see Zafir explore that and grow as a person.

Their banter is fantastic, the way the bounce off of each other, feed off of each other's sense of humor and give each other shit was amazing to read. I love witty banter like that where characters aren't scared to relentlessly tease each other but at the end of the day are there for each other and would probably bodily hurt anyone who hurts the other. I loved reading about how much they adored and respected each other and how in tune to each other's needs they were, doing things without being told or ever expecting anything in return. I especially loved how in awe of Dani's brain Zafir was and how he loved to hear her talk about the things she's passionate about even when he doesn't understand them, and never for one second does he feel intimidated or threatened by her intelligence. Truly all I want in life.

I really loved seeing Dani have a good support system around her, especially when it comes to her relationship with her sisters, Chloe and Eve and I can't wait to read Eve's book, aaah.

I loved Dani’s sense of humour, she was hilarious and quick witted. I believe that the way the relationship started was perfect for her, but my heart did break for her a number of times.
It was also nice to read a character who owned being bi and could be with a man without the other side of her not being mentioned.

Zaf was a sweetheart and it was refreshing to read. He was in touch with his emotions and it’s nice to have the tables turned where the guy is in touch with his emotions.

You know one of those books where you need the ending to be reliable but you don’t mind how you get there? That is this book. It was everything I needed and more. Absolute filth through between Danika and Zafir but now I crave more. I need to see where their relationship goes!! Will be buying a finished copy as I received this from NetGalley.

this book was absolutely adorable. it was like a hug! Zafir and Dani had such a lovely friendship, and seeing it evolve into something more made me both happy and a tiny bit anxious for the drama that was bound to happen, but happy is the primary feeling!
I love it when a book shows a queer person being in a f/m relationship, because I think it's important to show that queer people are valid in their identity no matter the relationship they're in. Dani being bi and talking about it with Zaf was 10/10!$
also, Zafir saying ‘we don't want you here’ to toxic masculinity, being open about his anxiety and clinal depression, yes please! not only was he the sweetest, grumpiest man, but he was also so open about his feelings, and that's something I absolutely loved!

I liked Get A Life, Chloe Brown but I preferred this book by far!
Some of the things I enjoyed - The chemistry between Dani and Zaf; the fake dating; Zaf’s openness about his anxiety and loss of loved ones; Zaf; Dani being bi and no big deal being made about it, just acceptance; seeing characters from book 1; Zaf; a good amount of smut but left room for story; great family connections; and did I mention Zaf? 😉

I connected with Zafir more than Dani but maybe that’s because I’m a hopeless romantic and I love a man/character who is in touch with their feelings and isn’t afraid to own them and talk about them. Men talking about mental health is incredibly important.

If they carry on at this rate. Book 3 in the series will be a 5 star!

I received an e-ARC of this book from Netgalley and the publishers. Much appreciated but these opinions are completely my own.

I recieved a digital edition of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own and given freely.

So i was excited for this one, I'd heard such great stuff but honestly i had a few problems with this story. But i really loved the inclusive reps in the story, and the body positivity which were all handled... I'd have loved to have seen more Bi Dani though 😊

I found Dani very annoying, she was willfully ignorant about her own feelings and as confident as she professes she is, she clearly is anything but confident, and doubts everyone around her because she doubts herself. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with either of these things, however i love the fact that Dani has a ton of character growth and learns from her mistakes and the past, it's just a shame it doesn't happen until about 80%. But character growth is one of my favourite parts of any books. The main thing i disliked about Dani was her total disregard of other peoples feelings, Zaf professes his love and she just shuts down any reaction and decideds he's deluded... I know this prompts her emotional growth, but i still really don't like her because of it.

I liked Zafir from the start, I love the fact he reads steamy romances - same - i love the fact that he's unashamed by it and I love his explanation of why he reads them - I love the happy endings and knowing where the story is going 😊

I did find some of the descriptions very strange 'Something blossomed in Zaf' s chest, as fresh and delivate as a flower, and it smelled like honey and candlewax. It smelled like Danika' - the idea of a feeling having a smell is weird to me... I've never smelt a feeling before.
Also he use of the words 'as always' in four short sentences, at the beginning... 'She was ridiculous, as always. Unselfconcious, as always. Made him want to grin, as always. Zaf resisted, as always.' it seems superfluous and could have been avoided... 😔

I skipped the sex scenes - i read a lot of romanxe and therefore a lot of sex scenes and honestly I didn't like these, not sure what exactly put me off about them - but they just didn't sit right for me.

Really good read. Would recommend to friends and family. I could sympathise with characters (important for any fiction novel!) and looked forward to picking it up and reading the next few chapters! Interesting plot line and a good ending. Will look out for more novels by the author. Thank you.

Honestly, Talia Hibbert is the master of rom-com and can do no wrong in my eyes! A diverse romance with a cinnamon roll hero, opposites attract and a fake relationship – what more could you ask for? Well, lols, and there are plenty.
I love the Brown sisters and can't wait for the next one in the series. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

After having absolutely adored Chloe Brown, I was very excited to read Dani's story. I'm happy to report that I was not let down at all and I loved Dani Brown so much.

Talia Hibbert has a unique ability to write characters that are unique whilst also very real. So real they could jump out of the page. I particularly enjoyed Zaf's character - I mean who doesn't love a man who reads romance books?! It's impossible not to love him.

The story was adorable and I was extremely invested in Dani and Zaf's relationship. And I love how Talia Hibbert uses tropes as a good thing - she waves the tropes (e.g. fake dating) in our face and makes it work so well.

I didn't love this book as much as Chloe Brown, but I connected with her so deeply because we both suffer from chronic illness and I loved reading a happy story about that. This book was still wonderful, though. And it deals with themes of anxiety quite well.

Can't wait to read about Eve in the third book of this series (which I believe is coming out next year).

Talia Hibbert really is the queen of writing inclusive romances! I loved Get a Life, Chloe Brown and I think this companion novel is just as fantastic. Hibbert has a real skill for writing funny, heart-warming & romantic romances, while still appropriately handling the delicate and realistic "life stuff" that can pop up around the romances. Hibbert writes romances about REAL people living real lives, and I love that a lot.

I have mentioned before that I love a fake-relationship story and this ticked all of my boxes. Dani and Zaf are great leading characters and both have a backstory that totally explains why they are the way they are. And as they go about faking their relationship for social media, the two of them have the best banter. Dani's sisters (more on them in a minute) are great - as are Zaf's best friend and nieces. The resolution at the end is totally in keeping with their characters and what's gone on before so it just left me with a big happy smile on my face. As well as the banter between the characters, the narrative has such a witty turn of phrase that it will make you giggle.

Hands down the best romcom I've read in 2020. I absolutely loved it. Funny, diverse, sexy, entertaining - what's not to love? Dani was a great heroine, she was funny and relatable and Zaf was honestly one of the sweetest heroes I've ever read. Talia Hibbert is now one of my must-read authors.

After reading the first book, Get a Life Chloe Brown, literally hours before I picked up this sequel meant that I went into this title already loving these three sisters, the writing style and was curious to read Dani's story.

Take a Hint, Dani Brown follows Dani and Zaf who work together in a university/college where she is a teacher and he is a security guard. When a practice fire drill goes off and Dani is stuck, Zaf rescues her and the whole thing is filmed and put online and inevitably goes viral. Suddenly, everyone on campus wants the two of them together and when Zaf sees the publicity his charity is now getting because of this, he asks Dani if she is willing to fake date him to keep up the publicity for his charity.

I really enjoyed this one and what I've come to realise is my favourite thing about these first two books (I'm excited to read the third) is the characters. The characters don't fit into any kind of typical stereotype, they are unique and individual and very memorable. In this book, Dani is a strong, independent girl boss who wants to work hard and have fun. She doesn't have time or energy for a relationship right now. Zaf on the other hand, is a retired pro-rugby player and works closely with a charity for kids alongside being a security guard and he likes to read romance novels in his spare time. I love how real the characters felt and how Hibbert was able to write a fun, flirty, light-hearted romance but also spoke about deeper topics such as anxiety, depression and the death of a love one.

This book is definitely steamy and at times it felt like that overwhelmed the rest of the story. As a fake-dating book, to me it was inevitable that they were going to end up together but I also think that Hibberts intentions were less about will-they-won't-they and more about Dani realising that as scary as it is, she is ready for a relationship with him. One thing that I wanted more of in Chloe's story was more side characters and more of a focus on work and friends and family rather than just being about the romance and I do think this sequel definitely had more of that which I liked.

Overall, a fun, fast and flirty read that is well worth reading if you liked the first book and I'm excited to read the third instalment in this series.

This is exactly what I look for when I think of rom-coms!

This was an incredibly enjoyable book with a good combination of humour, steamy scenes and more importantly, a ship-worthy couple! I also really like this trend of career women and reverse gender roles in romance novels. For a while I had to stop reading romance books because I thought the genre and its message were very toxic. But now that I'm back, I'm very grateful for books like this.

I was also surprised at how well the author could keep the balance between discussing serious issues and having a feel-good romantic comedy. The serious topics never felt heavy-handed or hand-wavy, which again, is another positive for me.

With all that, I feel a bit guilty about not giving this book a higher rating. I really enjoyed this. But I just didn't click with this one the same way I did with The Hating Game or The Worst Best Man. My problem, I guess, is that it just wasn't as slow-burn as my favourite romance novels.
Just to be clear, I don't think the romance or ending is rushed here. It's just that I prefer my rom-coms to be torturously slooow. Here, One of the characters falling in love with the other happened a tad bit too fast for my liking.

With that said, I still strongly recommend this book if you want a feel-good romantic comedy, with fleshed-out characters that doesn't shy away from more serious topics.

Having only recently read ‘Get a Life Chloe Brown’ I couldn’t wait to read this follow up. It was very well written with some great characters. A cute and fun rom-com which also covered some emotional issues. Looking forward to reading the next book. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

A sassy, clever and touching romance, Take A Hint, Dani Brown is firmly in my Top 10 Romances of the Year so far! I haven't read the previous book about Chloe but will absolutely be doing so this week.

I loved the instant chemistry between Dani and Zaf and loved the intelligent, witty conversations between both mains and with the supporting characters. I particularly liked that it wasn't all funny, sexy moments but there was a tenderness and emotional backing throughout the story, with Zaf's family situation and Dani's past experiences.

Loved this and cannot wait to read more by Talia Hibbert!

‘Take A Hint, Dani Brown’ is officially one of my favourite books of this year and has also become one of my favourite books of all time. After reading ‘Get A Life, Chloe Brown’ I did not think this book could top such an excellent book but ‘Take A Hint, Dani Brown’ 100% did. This book had everything I love, a bisexual main character, friends to lovers, fake-dating and insane chemistry between the two main characters.

‘Take A Hint, Dani Brown’ is about Dani and Zaf, who after a video of Zaf carrying Dani out of a university building goes viral, decide to pretend they are dating in order to create publicity for Zaf’s project ‘Tackling It’, where he helps young boys be able to play rugby whilst also giving them a place to feel safe and receive therapy. This book explores dealing with the loss of a loved one and shines a light on men dealing with anxiety and depression and receiving therapy, which is something that is not talked about often. I loved how Dani was a strong, bisexual woman throughout the book and how she refused to change herself or make herself smaller to fit around the person she was dating. I also loved all the relationships in the book, Dani and Zaf’s relationship had me swooning. The relationships between the Brown sisters was as strong as ever in this book. I also loved the relationships between Dani and Sorcha and Zaf and Kiran.

I absolutely loved ‘Take A Hint, Dani Brown’ and I want everyone to read it. It was such a cute rom. I never want to stop talking and gushing about this book and I can’t wait for the next book about the third Brown Sister, Eve.
