Tempting the Dragon King was full of steamy fun! I really liked the main character June, and her story was so real and heart-wrenching that I loved her even more. Tristian, the dragon king, was a typical romance leading man which was a bummer. He lacked depth and his character seemed to change drastically from page to page. Their love was also a little too instant for me. The “twist” in the story was a nice way to end the story - but far too predictable. Would have loved to learn more about the witches. Also, I thought this was the second book in a series, because it read like one where the author gives you a quick tour of the first book in the first couple of chapters in the second book, but you’d still be a bit lost even with that if you had not read the first book. That’s how the beginning of this book felt. There were also inconsistencies in editing that detracted from the story. All in all, the sex in this story made up for some of its faults, and June was such a strong character that I did enjoy reading this book.

Love this! June is bold, strong-willed and feisty. The King is intrigued, instantly drawn to her and knows how to romance her. They both have some family baggage which I thinks makes them even more relatable to one another. Exciting, magical, intense, heartwarming and even a bit of humor, well-rounded paranormal romance. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Human Juniper Jacobs gets stuck on a spaceship that autopilots its way across the path of dragon king Tristan Okora. This was a quick read with a lot of drama and action as well as light and fun moments. I loved the story of how the characters meet and also the development of the plot. The struggle of people from two different worlds trying to figure out their feelings and how they might end up together. I also loved the ending of this book. I did feel like the customs of this far off world in space were too similar to what they are on Earth. I would have liked some differences in how marriage, relationships, and other customs are handled. Also, the male character, Tristan, spoke like he was Scottish. This seemed out of place a little bit.

So when a book puts tears in my eyes I feel some type of way. I mean you don’t have to make a bih cry to make me like your book. Dang!
But here you went all out and did it.
I really like Tristan and June just so go together. Lots of action, some drama, and a few sexy times! This is so worth the price of this book! Grab it. Don’t read any other reviews but this one and get this book. S/N this is a spinoff to another series didn’t know that when I requested this book. Anywho, it doesn’t matter you will understand everything that is going on. One bad bih thought she was badder than another bigger better bad bih (June) learned her lesson from messing with her.
So yeah 5 stars is what this book needs. Especially, when your love of your life murders anyone that would try to harm you. Just gives you some feels. When he said, “ execute them and bring me their heads!” I was like this is true to the bone love!

I did not enjoy reading this book because of three core problems: odd world-building choices, lacking character definition and development, and confusing pacing. This book would have really benefited from another round of editing. I was confused by the concept of aliens being fantasy creatures with what seemed like Earth accents (Scottish?), insta-sexual relationships, the aliens' ability to understand the human (although she seemed to be bespelled to understand them), and a lack of actual conflict. After an attack that leaves her almost dead, the main characters have sex and enjoy their night like nothing happened, saying it was the best of her life. This happens twice in the book. This book just really doesn't make sense. Because I dislike posting negative reviews, I will not put it on my blog.

Note: the book is technically the first in a spin off however it mentions previous character alot. Although technically the book is a standalone, I wouldn't read it as such. However, ai wouldn't recommend this book at all.

Honestly, the book was going well until about the 62% mark. Tristan and June had some chemistry and I like how the author is taking the book.

However, I hate the trope of a other woman being in the picture. Technically speaking Tristan is sort of engaged. And the other woman is a complete bitch.

Which is expected and tiresome to read about. I was so annoyed at this point that I decided not to read anymore.

This was an interesting fantasy/romance book. I'm not quite sure what I just read, but I'm not mad at it.

Juniper is hiking on earth and stumbles onto something she thinks is a cave but turns out to be an alien spacecraft. As she investigates, the ship takes off and shes hurled into space. Unable to understand the controls, and with no food or water left, she is resigned to dying on the ship. Tristan is the new king of his clan of dragon shifters. When he sees the ship of his enemy flying at his ship, he disables it and boards, expecting to fight his enemy.

When Tristan and Juniper see each other, sparks fly. The two eventually get together, but can their relationship last when he lives for centuries and she is mortal? Well, it's a romance book, so what do you think?

This was a quick and easy read. It was a bit jarring to have a contemporary woman from earth making pop culture references while talking to a man that can transform into a dragon while they fly on a space ship? Huh? How did the author dream that up? It's also strange that Tristan appears human and has all human characteristics (because how else would they have all the sex, right?) but can morph into a huge dragon. Perhaps this is not so weird. It is, after all, my first venture into a dragon, paranormal, romance book. Who knew? :-)

In any event, this was actually a fun book to read. It's all fluff and escapism, but who doesn't need that once in awhile?

This is a spin-off to the author's Demon series that is popular, with a different alien species as the main character. The author had been promising to continue the series at some point, and it was nice to see it finally happen. I did not enjoy this one quite as much as the rest original series, but it was still a great read. Although I am not reading much in the way of this genre of late, her books are still great as a science fiction/paranormal read, and I have always enjoyed her writing..

What would you do if you found spaceship on your walk in the forest? Go in and explore, and when the ship takes off? That has Jun done and the ship has her flown to an adventure of her life. Tristan still mourning the death of his father is still trying to accustom to being a new king and when an innocent sassy human comes in his life everything will change for him. This is great SF read with great characters and a lot of humor. I especially loved June she is so strong and caring, Tristan was perfect for her.

I loved the banter between our Earth girl, June and our Dragon king, Tristan.
The chemistry was instant and i believed every minute.
I laughed and i did cry a little towards the end.

First time reading this author and this world. I must say I liked it; quite simplistic but then these kind of romance stories usually are. You could definitely tell this was a spin-off series, and having not read the previous books, I was left a bit lost at the beginning as to the different races and the magic system and what not; which was rather annoying.

The characters were interesting and I liked the couple. They had a lot of emotional range and depth, even if that wasn't dwelled on too much in the story.

Some things were a little inconsistent. Two characters seemed to really dislike each other at first, then later it seemed like it was good-natured banter instead, which didn't come across at first. Perhaps knowing the history of the characters from the previous books may have cleared this up but it just jolted me slightly when I kept reading conflicting information.

Our heroine June was brilliant. A fierce, intelligent and compassionate woman who is so down to earth (or rather out of earth!), and not shy to be herself even in this unusual situation she has found herself in.

I would have liked more depth to the story and the world. There was a lot mentioned that wasn't then really elaborated on. Like the Witches and how it seems their understanding of them may not be exactly what they think. Also, I kept on thinking there was going to be more to the rumour situation in this story, something to add a bit extra but it never came to fruition. A bit disappointing.

However, overall I enjoyed this story. Don't think you can expect too much from these type of serial romance stories but it was sweet all the same. Would recommend and looking to pick up other stories in this series.

Disclaimer: As far as PNR sub-genres go, I find dragon-shifters only marginally more interesting than wolf-shifters (which I've stopped reading books about at this point, they're just too many and too done). So I didn't come into this book with the highest of expectations. But Kiersten Fay may yet make a dragon fan out of me!

Although there are a few false starts at the beginning (some typos and turn of phrases that are a bit on the "purple prose" end for no reason), the author picks up the pace quick, managing to deliver a story that's surprisingly grounded and emotional — for being about alien dragon-shifters who live in a vaguely Asgardian society. June, the MC, is one of the most sympathetic and earnest characters I've read lately. She has a strength that stems from her trauma and resilience and that gives her developing relationship with Tristan (who is more like your run-of-the-mill brooding alpha male) a refreshing gravitas.

Experiencing dragons and alien kingdoms from June's perspective is a real joy — and you can tell the author is really having fun with some of the tropes of the genre. There are several things happening throughout this book that manage to keep the stakes high throughout but (without spoiling it) there is a scene towards the end of the book that you're likely to read again and again. I know I did! And it was a pleasant reminder that if you approach any genre with enough love and conviction, you can delight even the most jaded readers.

Plus, the epilogue scene, setting up a new MC for the next instalment of the series? THAT"S how I'd have liked the book to have started.

I really liked June, she had spunk and didnt let the prissy princess piss her off without pushing back.
I loved Tristan and his mother, they were so down to earth and both liked Juniper for exactly who she was. It did seem like Tristans mum wanted this all to happen the way she acted to start with.
Tristan was fun and i liked the way he basically kicked out the princess on her ass as soon as he could. I liked the way he acted around June so normal and we know they were both in love with each other.

I thought the big fight near the end could have been a little longer and the magic scene could have been a little morw in depth but the whole scene was good. I didn't expect Juniper to be able to shift but it's coold that she can.

This was a fun, quick read and i am excited to read more by the author. I am really enjoying her style of writing and Paranormal romance is my favourite genre :)

Will Tristan be able to keep June safe, or will she go home, and he will never see her again? Will June be able to make it off Tristan’s planet alive, or will someone make it, so she never leaves and never sees another sunrise?

You guys, the banter in this book was some of my favorite I have read this year. It was a comedy with romance with dragon shifting abilities and hot HOT scenes. June had a lot of things happen in her past that presented its ugly self again. It was heart-melting to see her with a young boy and show him love, when others hadn’t. I also loved reading Tristan, and it makes me want a dragon shifter lover of my own. Though on Tristan’s planet, there would be words that made me think of Jar Jar Binks. You have to read this book to understand!

I honestly can’t wait to read more of this series and see what else happens. I also really hope we go back to Tristan’s planet as I am hoping for more information about said world and people.

If one enjoys light science fiction romance and is looking for a fun, steamy escape for a few hours, look no further! Triston and Juniper are delightful characters. Each come with their own baggage that needs to be sorted but find an attraction that can’t be denied. I especially enjoyed the scene where they meet. Juniper has accidentally found herself in a space ship she has no idea how to commandeer, with no food and is looking at a slow death floating through outer-space. Tristan sees the ship as a hated enemy fighter who needs to be destroyed. What follows is absolutely delightful as each tries to unravel all the confusion!

I would love to have seen more depth in the story, especially in the characters, as everything stays pretty much surface only throughout the book. I’m not sure that isn’t intentional, however. Sometimes reading something where one doesn’t have to think that much, but only relax and enjoy might be just what the author wanted. If so, she succeeded in spades because for a light fun other-worldly romp, this one is an absolute winner.

I think this would be the perfect summer/beach read. It's a quick read with just the right amount of romance and adventure. It was a somewhat predictable story, but I actually enjoyed that because sometimes it's nice to just be able to read a book without feeling like you need to Sherlock Holmes the story to figure out what's coming.
