I received a digital advance copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Netgalley and Firefly Press for this copy.
The first thing that struck me as a reader was the raw emotion that oozes from the pages. Kay, the main character, is grieving after the loss of her mother and Chloë Heuch manages to convey the raw emotions of Kay so perfectly: the anger, the hate, the guilt, the jealousy, the self-loathing. It is clear that Kay is on a path of self destruction; the circumstances and events within the story are very real and this makes the writing all the more powerful.
The story is gripping and I just wanted to journey with Kay and know that she would find her way and her true self.
The story not only deals with grief but the angst of being a teenager and also the discovery that friendship and the relationship with friends changes as we get older.
Too Dark to See is a beautifully written story. Powerfully emotive and heartfelt.
