4 - "Anything for you…" Stars!

Having fell in love with Red Moss Vineyards and the Bellini family after reading The Matchmakers Mistletoe Mission at Christmas, I was eager to read The Best Man Plan and on the whole Erin and Jason’s story delivered exactly what I expect from a book by Ms Burton.

This series has started in the same vein as the Hope Springs one did, and feels and reads a lot like it too. In that it is set in one locale with many likeable characters and plenty of scope for future books, with pets, canine so far playing a part in the stories.

Erin, Owen and Jason have been BFF’s since childhood, Erin & Owen are soon to be married, that is until he dumps her by email and disappears on their honeymoon alone. The one thing that stood out for me about Erin was the fact that she had very little reaction (apart from anger) to the fact her husband to be had dropped her like a hot coal. And this is the one thing I struggled with for the whole book, she almost came across as callous in her lack of feelings about the fact Owen had dumped her, with more single minded focus on using their mutual friend Jason to exact her revenge on him.

She’d been thrown off the horse, metaphorically speaking. Getting back on was the best thing she could do for herself right now… Easing the pain of rejection by having a revenge fling would make her feel better. And who better to do that with than Owen’s best friend…

And this almost desperate pursuance starts at the party which would have been her wedding reception if she had gotten married. What she doesn’t realize is that Jason has been carrying a torch for her for years, and if it wasn’t for the fact he is a nice guy and stepped aside when Owen indicated his interest in her, he’d likely have been the one she ended up with. She is so eager to have said fling, she misses all of the signs that this isn’t a man that wants something casual with her, but being the friend he is, and having the feelings he does, he steps in and tries to be everything she needs him to be, at the risk of his own heart.

This was what he’d waited a lifetime for and never thought he’d have…

That’s my only gripe really, I still read the book in pretty much one sitting, I loved spending more time with the Bellini family as a whole, and it was great to see more from Alice and Clay, The whole Owen aspect of the story is resolved much later down the line, and I loved Jason start to finish, Erin… I will be honest and say I still wasn’t convinced by the end, but I hope that will come with seeing more of her as a secondary character in the future books in the series.

Really enjoyed this book. It’s definitely a cute and easy read which has allowed me the escape I’ve needed

So i was expecting it be about a bride being left at alter and she instead goes for a wild revenge night with the best man only to later fall in love with him.

Well all that happened but nit in that order! And it makes all the difference.

Its about Erin and Jason. And Honor & Brenna (Erin's sisters), Owen & Clay (Jason's best friends), Finn and Mike and so many more people. It's an ensemble.

And they are sure to come back in the next book 😍

It was a feel good novel about a girl who is strong & focused, whose family loves wine and weddings, and who's sisters are the most supporting.

And Jason is all charm and calm. He is understanding, loving, caring, and irresistible!
.
Though I'd like a few things to be not the way they were, especially how the author referred to sex and the explanations.

Also the end was a bit predictable. (I thought of 3 scenarios that could unfold, it was one of them).

All in all close to 3.5/5

Waiting for #2

Great romance story that starts with a bang as a bride, Erin, is jilted two days before her wedding. She turns to the best man, Jason, for revenge sex, but he's been in love with her for years so it doesn't quite go according to plan. Throw in a supporting cast of friends and family, a couple of cute dogs and you've got a heart warming tale with a suitably satisfying ending.

The writing style here immediately didn’t appeal to me. It is very simplistic, with characters appearing very clichéd from the get go. They didn’t improve much, and lacked the sort of comedy that would have elevated this.

A great read.

Erin is dumped by her fiance Owen 2 days before her wedding. She turns to their mutual friend Jason to help her get through it, but as they spend more time together soon it turns in to more than the revenge fling she set out for. Jason was interested in Erin before she got together with Owen, and wants a chance for a proper relationship with her, but worries he stands to lose his friendship with Erin and Owen if things go wrong.

An unexpected twist adds to the story.

This was a lovely book to read. Erin and Jason were both very likeable strong characters and the storyline moved at a good pace and kept me engrossed throughout. You sort of know before starting the book that there is going to be a happy ending but that doesn’t in any way spoil the enjoyment of the journey getting there.. The writing style reminded me of books by Jill Shalvis and Sarah Morgan, both authors are on my favourites list. I can imagine this is the first in a series about the sisters and I can’t wait to read the next one.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read a preview copy.
